Is There a Director in the House?

Original air date: 2/27/24

Afraid that she's spending too much time working and not just being a kid, Bunny sends Squidina off to camp. This leaves Patrick without a director, and who can possibly do as good of a job as Squidina did?

Is There a Director in the House? contains examples of:

  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: Considering The Patrick Star Show's' track record of not entirely being happy with Nickelodeon's franchise milking, it's not hard to see Camp Kid as a stand-in for Kamp Koral, a Spin-Off running at the same time. Squidina hates how patronizing and childish it is, and every other camper is a total idiot.
  • Call-Back: Slappy's scene is a spin on the Pilot episode, "Late for Breakfast", which also featured a cooking segment.
  • Continuity Nod: During Slappy's cooking segment, Patrick is wearing his suit from "Nitwit Neighborhood News."
  • Cue Card: GrandPat insists on his Silent Movie being done entirely using cue cards. Humorously, only one of the cards is actual dialogue: Patrick's are just "?" and "??" and Sandy's consist of scientific equations.
  • Deliberately Monochrome:
    • Slappy's cooking film is done in grayscale.
    • GrandPat's Silent Movie is shown entirely in sepia tone.
  • Paste Eater: One of the kids Squidina makes paper chains with is seen eating glue.
  • Questioning Title?
  • Silent Movie: GrandPat's directing choice is a silent movie. Unfortunately, this comes in right as Sandy is about to warn Bikini Bottom of imminent danger, forcing her to pantomime and Cue Card what the danger exactly is.
  • Visible Silence: Patrick doesn't understand what Sandy is trying to warn him about, so a Cue Card reading "?" appears. She gives an even more complicated explanation: he gives a confused look and a "??" card appears.

Star Cruise

Original air date: 2/28/24

The Stars are all set for a cruise, only to go off-track and board an alien ship by mistake... but this won't stop them from enjoying the vacation of a lifetime.

Star Cruise contains examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Cecil's attempts to find parking actually leads him to smash through many of the People Jars the aliens had set up, freeing them. Later on, he plays shuffleboard with the jars, sending them back to Earth.
  • And You Thought It Was a Game: Patrick and Squidina come across the ship's arcade and play one of the games. Patrick doesn't realize he's shooting an actual ship, and mistakes the alien's pleas for him to stop as just really good graphics.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: The captain and the aliens suffer plenty of misfortune throughout the episode thanks to the Star family's antics, which is deserved considering that they were trying to invade the Earth and kidnapped plenty of Bikini Bottomites in the proccess.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After accidentally crashing into the S.S. Super Minnow, Captain Quasar comes out with Pat-Tron aghast at the damages. Cecil attempts to apologize and try to get them to buff the charges, only for Quasar to still think that they should exchange insurance information. Cecil then awkwardly claims to have left it at the ship before deciding to send the car in reverse.
  • Space Episode: The Stars end up aboard an alien ship in the middle of outer space.
  • We Used to Be Friends: A variant. The alien captain and several fuzzy aliens from another ship were initially "invasion buddies" in an attempt to conquer Earth. Thanks to Patrick destroying the ship, the fuzzy aliens renounce their pact with the captain, label him a traitor for something Patrick caused, and destroy his ship in retaliation.

Video Game Arcade

While aboard an alien ship, Patrick and Squidina check out an arcade and play what seems to be a game. It turns out Patrick actually shot at and destroyed an alien ship, ruining the alliance those aliens had with the ship's captain.
