Film: Gordy (1995)
This review contains examples of:
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Critic considers the scene where the guards are distracted by a cross-dressing robber wearing pantyhose on his head as this.
- Call-Back: When the Critic is eating breakfast, it's Cheerios 2.
- Evil Popcorn Eating Man from Free Willy appears.
- Cluster F-Bomb: After hearing the notion that you can understand animals if you take the time to listen, Critic decides to talk to a pot (though he calls it a pan). The pot says "Fuck you!" over and over to him.
- Driven to Suicide: After a scene of Louis Rukeyser interviewing Gordy, Critic does an imitation of him saying that his professional career is over and shoots himself in the head.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: The crazy cross-dressing robber with pantyhose on his head appears in only one short scene, yet Critic would rather know more about him than watch the rest of the movie.
- Freudian Excuse: After the scene where Bill Clinton shows his support for Gordy, Critic does an imitation of him saying that his affair with Monica Lewinsky was to make sure he'll never land another spot in a kids movie.
- Mundane Made Awesome: "I'm going to make breakfast now."
- "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: When the Critic first mentions the Pig Power rap, he adds, "Yes, I am dead serious."
- Shout-Out
- When Jinnie Sue gives Gordy his new name of "Pinky", it cuts to another Pinky.
- Critic's imitation of Richard the Rooster says that Osama bin Laden came back to life, became a Transformer and is destroying Chicago with the Dark of the Moon.
- When Gordy saves Hanky from drowning, "Spider-Pig" plays.
- When Sipes orders his goons to kidnap Gordy, sinister music from Free Willy plays.
- After the fight at the concert, Critic calls upon Conway Twitty.
- Critic calls the film "Pig in the Shitty".
- Subverted Catchphrase: "I'm The Nostalgia Critic, and PIG POWER'S IN THE HOUSE!!!"
- Who Writes This Crap?!: Says something to the effect of this after this exchange;Jessica: (To Mr. Sipes) I mean how could you even ask me to compete with a pig?Critic: You know, unless you're in a Muppet movie, that line should not have any context anywhere.
"Go play your banjo, goober!"
