Argent decides to send Allison and his sister Kate to Washington. Stiles helps Peter locate Derek. Meanwhile, Jackson is called to get Lydia to the hospital. Scott must cope with the girl he loves knowing his secret. Argent and the hunters try to get Scott's location out of Stiles and Jackson. Scott locates Derek and tells him Peter killed his sister on purpose. Kate tries to get Allison to kill Derek and Scott, but Argent stops them, having learned from Stiles that Kate was behind the Hale's house fire. Peter appears and kills Kate. Derek and Scott fight Peter, but they're overpowered. Stiles and Jackson appear with Lydia's self-igniting Molotov cocktails, which badly burn Peter before Derek slashes his throat, becoming the new Alpha. Scott and Allison reconcile. Jackson asks Derek for the bite.
Tropes applying to this Episode:
- Action Girl: Allison fully becomes this when she gears up with Kate to go out and hunt down the Betas and she helps to take down Peter.
- Ambiguous Ending: Jackson when he demands the Bite from Derek. Derek does display his fangs and lunge at the boy, but it's not shown what the outcome is.
- Lydia is still hospitalized after being Bitten but Scott and Stiles notice she's not becoming a werewolf while also still alive. So Stiles asks "Then what the hell is she?"
- Badass Normal/Badass Bookworm: Stiles and Jackson when they appear at the Final Battle with the self-igniting Molotov cocktails Lydia showed them to make back in Night School. They (or more likely Stiles) paid attention.
- Character Death: Two. Peter and Kate's. Both via Slashed Throat.
- Deceased Fall-Guy Gambit: Kate's role in the Hale Fire is revealed to Sheriff Stilinski via the necklace being placed on her corpse. The ending also shows via a newspaper, she's being blamed for Peter's killing spree.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Stiles, when he stands up to Chris Argent when he's interrogated by the hunter.
- Everyone Has Standards: After coming into this werewolf/hunter conflict, Allison shows it when she maims Derek and blinds Scott, but is absolutely horrified by Kate saying now they're kill the werewolves.
- Chris Argent. Though it's established he's no fan of werewolves, he follows the hunters' Code of Honor: do not kill the werewolf unless there's proof they're a viable threat to people. He fires a warning shot at his sister to have her take her off Scott after it's revealed Kate organized the Hale House fire murdering innocent people.
- Great Detective: Scott uncovering proof that Peter killed Laura Hale on purpose which gets Derek solidly back on his side. Kid's clearly starting to wise up and become less Too Dumb to Live.
- Standard Female Grab Area: Kate, courtesy of Peter. Justified in that even though Kate is an Action Girl, Peter is a werewolf with Super-Strength.
- Klingon Promotion: Derek killing Peter results in Derek becoming an Alpha werewolf himself.Derek: "I'm the Alpha now.
- Lack of Empathy: Kate. The bitch showed no remorse for innocent people alive, as Peter is in a position to know.
- Meaningful Echo: When Allison kisses Scott. It's a complete reverse of their scene in the previous episode with the same dialogue.Scott: Why did you do that?
Allison: Because I love you. - Papa Wolf: Chris Argent. After his daughter has been dragged into the supernatural business, he's pissed at Kate, determinedly hunting down Scott to the point of roughing up Stiles and Jackson for information.
- Season Finale: Of the first season.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Peter murders his nurse and accomplice Jennifer once she served her purpose.
