Breaking Purple

  • Anything but That!: Donnie says this word for word when Mikey shows him that his relationship with Shelldon parallels the turtles' relationship with Splinter. Though, in this case, it's more like This Cannot Be!.
  • Because I Said So: Donnie uses this while arguing with Shelldon at the start of the episode. Soon after, Mikey points out that this isn't a good argument.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Donnie's complaints about Shelldon are an obvious parallel of a parent dealing with their teenage child.
  • Flapping Cheeks: Donnie has these when he speeds along with a rocket pack.
  • Good-Times Montage: Shelldon has one with the Purple Dragons.
  • Restraining Bolt: During the You Are Grounded! moment below, Donnie puts one on Shelldon. Unlike most examples of this trope, this one is more like a prisoner ball and chain.
  • Tame His Anger: Mikey as Dr. Feelings tries to help Donnie control his anger when dealing with Shelldon and to talk things out calmly. It doesn’t work at first and Donnie ends up putting a restraining bolt on Shelldon during his You Are Grounded! scene, which is what leads to Shelldon running away.
  • Turning Into Your Parent: The pictures that Mikey shows Donnie have Splinter reprimanding Donnie and Donnie reprimanding Shelldon, making Donnie realize that he’s become like his dad.
  • You Are Grounded!: When Shelldon pushes him too far, Donnie grounds him.

Repairin the Baron

  • Call-Back: Mikey points out that Draxum has had a hard fall from grace by bringing up events of past episodes.
  • Ceiling Banger: The person living above April's room stomps around so much that it makes her ceiling fan fall. When Raph and April investigate, they find that it was Mikey trying to cheer up Baron Draxum.
  • The Drag-Along: Mikey makes Raph come with him and Draxum to Albearto land.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Draxum makes one by the end of the episode.
  • The Matchmaker: Draxum has apparently been contacted by a woman trying to get him to meet her daughter.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Raph deflects an energy blast, causing it to hit and dislodge a car on a ferris wheel.
  • Save the Villain: Mikey picks Draxum up off the streets and later, he and Raph save Draxum from yokai bounty hunters.
  • Take That!: Mikey and Raph get Draxum a job as a cafeteria worker. They figure it's perfect because he's always angry, needs to be the boss, and hates humans.
  • Terrifying Rescuer: When Draxum is saving a woman and her child from a damaged Ferris wheel car, he declares in the most sinister way that he’s come to get them. Naturally, the delivery and his scary appearance make them think they’re in more danger.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: No one is happy with Mikey helping Baron Draxum at first. The turtles and Splinter all point out all the crimes that Draxum committed against them. Raph seems to be the only one that starts coming around and accepting Draxum.
