The battle between Flash and Lightning in the Equestria League finals reaches its epic conclusion, and the winner of the tournament is decided.
- And This Is for...: During the battle between Riptide and Gorillamp, Flash declares that this is for all the Pokémon Lightning ever called weak, pathetic and worthless.
- Big "SHUT UP!":
- Flash tells Lightning to shut up when he is sick of hearing him say how weak his Pokémon are and how he has already won the battle.
- Lightning shouts one himself when he is in the middle of his Villainous Breakdown, unable to stand Flash refusing to lose to him again and feeling like Flash has always gotten in his way.
- Boring Insult: As part of Flash's Shut Up, Hannibal! moment towards Lightning, he says that Lightning repeating saying the same thing over and over again is boring him, and he lets out a fake yawn as emphasis to further taunt Lightning.
- Broken Win/Loss Streak: Applies to both Flash and his Pokémon.
- Flash finally defeats Lightning in an official Pokémon battle. Previously he only managed to tie with him or outright lose. Though it was downplayed previously when he beat Lightning in the Balance Battle Tournament, they both acknowledged that it wasn't a "real battle". But this is a true victory for Flash that can't be downplayed or denied.
- Riptide always lost against Gorillamp when they battled previously, ever since they were an Aquana and Chimplug respectively. This marks the first time Riptide finally managed to defeat it.
- The Determinator: Riptide absolutely refuses to stay down and be defeated by Lightning and Gorillamp again, constantly getting back up again every time he seems to be down for good. His persistence ultimately pays off, and wins him and Flash the match.
- Entitled Bastard: Lightning starts demanding to be declared the winner before Riptide is officially knocked out, deciding that Riptide is already finished and the "so called match" as he puts it is over. Later, after Flash is declared the winner, Lightning is so shocked by this that he begins mumbling that this "isn't right" and that he was "supposed to win and beat Shining Armor" because he is "the strongest".
- Everyone Has Standards: Everyone in the crowd is left frowning after watching Gorillamp defeat Springer, and barely anyone even cheers. They might enjoy an exciting battle, but that brutal display was way too much for them.
- Heroic Rematch:
- Flash finally manages to defeat Lightning in an official battle, after drawing in their first battle and losing to him in every other, with the only exception being his victory against him in the Balance Battle Tournament, which they both state was not being a "real battle".
- Hopper and Riptide also defeat Venomega and Gorillamp respectively, after losing to them in previous battles.
- Facepalm: Grand does this while groaning in embarrassment when Lightning has his Villainous Breakdown at the climax of the match, screaming how he is going to destroy Flash.
- Humble Pie: Lightning takes a huge slice after losing to Flash. He has his entire worldview shattered, barely able to process that he lost and isn't going to face, let alone beat, Shining Armor like he thought he was destined to. As he slowly sulks out of town, he realizes for the first time in a long time he has no idea what his future holds and is forced to concede that maybe Flash was right the whole time. He ends up humbly asking Grand Hoof for help, despite expecting to be rejected because of how Grand had previously washed his hands of Lightning.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Lightning Blitz is defeated by Flash Sentry, who he has constantly dismissed as a "worthless loser" who wastes his time with "weak Pokémon". Additionally, his ace Pokémon Gorillamp is defeated by Riptide, who Lightning has constantly dismissed as "worthless" since the start of the series.
- Little "No":
- Grand, Pinkie, and Spike do a few throughout the battle when it seems like Flash is going to lose.
- Lightning does one when he begins to process that he just lost.
- Mythology Gag: Flash's reaction to realizing he has finally beaten his rival Lightning is similar to Ash's own reaction to beating his own long time rival Gary.Flash: I did it... I did it... I won. And I beat... Lightning. (begins to shake with joy before jumping in the air) I WON THE EQUESTRIA LEAGUE!
- Not Bad: This is the last thing Gorillamp says to Riptide before finally collapsing to the ground in defeat.
- Post-Victory Collapse: After Flash is officially declared the winner, Riptide begins to fall over, having used all his energy to finally beat Gorillamp. Luckily, Flash and Springer are there to catch him.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Flash literally tells Lightning to shut up when he is sick of hearing him insult Riptide and the rest of his Pokémon. Later, Flash begins taunting Lightning, saying he has constantly been repeating the same speech since they met and he is just boring him now, giving a fake yawn to emphasize this.
- Stunned Silence: After Flash is officially declared the winner of the battle, the entire stadium goes silent as they process this, including Flash and Lightning. Present Mic is the first one to recover and break the silence, with the crowd exploding in cheers shortly afterwards.
- Tears of Joy: Flash's friends are close to tears while celebrating his victory, except for Twilight, who actually has tears pouring down her face happily.
- This Cannot Be!: Lightning is so shocked by his defeat that at first all he can do is mumble that this "isn't right" and that he was supposed to win because he's the "strongest".
- Villainous Breakdown: Lightning, having slowly gotten more annoyed over the course of the battle, finally has one in the climax. When Riptide seems to be beaten, Lightning begins demanding to be declared the winner already, only for Riptide to keep getting back up. When Riptide won't stay down and Flash starts taunting him, Lightning completely loses his cool, screaming he is sick of Flash always getting in his way and that he is going to destroy him, causing the entire crowd to flinch in shock at this outburst, and causing Grand to facepalm and groan in embarrassment.
- Wham Episode: Flash Sentry finally defeats his main rival Lightning Blitz in an official battle, winning the Equestria League and thus earning the right to challenge Shining Armor for his championship title.
- Worf Had the Flu: After Springer loses to Gorillamp, Doc says that if Springer hadn't of taken so much damage against Androrg and Roglacier before then the fight between him and Gorillamp probably would have been a lot more even.
