The school newspaper club is on the verge of shutting down, due to the advent of the school news channel.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Mrs. Tusk was somewhat flustered, when she heard the false news about Adam having a crush on her.
  • Accidental Truth: Adam writes a slanderous article about Jake having "cheek" implants, which turns out to be true.
  • Artistic License – Law: According to Pixiefrog, Jake is free to make up whatever he wants at Adam's expense because of "constitutional protection regarding freedom of the press," while Jake could sue the school for "defamation of character" when Adam outs one embarrassing thing that's actually true about him. While "defamation of character", or libel, is something you can sue over, that ball is in Adam's court because Jake was printing Blatant Lies about Adam's love life. As embarrassing as Jake's secret might be to him personally, the implants are an entirely true statement and thus doesn't qualify as libel.
  • Blatant Lies: Most of the articles, published in the newspapers.
  • Cassandra Truth: Since the students and staff believe everything they read in the paper, they don't believe Adam when he tells them to their faces how false it is.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: After discovering his fake news story was actually correct, Adam tries to backpedal by claiming he meant the cheeks on Jake's face.
Jake: (while clutching his cheeks) "Oh great, now everyone knows about that, too!"
  • Fake Boobs: Jake has butt cheek implants. And face cheek implants.
  • Given Name Reveal: It's revealed Jake's full name is "Jacob P. Spidermonkey".
  • Gullible Lemmings: The people of CDMS, would believe every single lie in the newspaper.
  • Kick the Dog: Jake Spidermonkey when he tries to save the school paper by repeatedly slandering his supposed best friend Adam with false rumors of romantic involvement with various female faculty members. What's worse is despite getting what he wanted (He only uses the newspaper as TP), he continues to slander Adam For the Lulz!
  • Malicious Slander: The papers spread news about Adam being in love with Mrs. Tusk, and several other female teachers.
  • Moral Myopia: Jake can make things up about Adam all he wants, but Adam tells one Accidental Truth about Jake and everyone acts like that is going too far.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Jake keeps taking Adam's comments out of context, to help him with his false news articles.
Adam: Jake! What's the deal with this bogus article? You're clearly saying that I have a crush on Mrs. Tusk!
Jake: No I'm not, but you just did. And I quote, "Something something something, blah blah blah, I have a crush on Mrs. Tusk!"
  • School Newspaper News Hound: Jake Spidermonkey.
  • Spinning Paper: Happened a few times.
  • Trope Breaker: When the CDMS News channel comes out, it renders the newspaper obsolete.
  • TV Never Lies: While the newspaper spouted nothing but lies, the news channel actually told the truth about everything, that is, until Jake became an anchorman.
  • Viewers Are Morons: Or in this case, readers.
  • Weak-Willed: Everyone gets hypnotized, by the idiot box, as soon as Jake turns on the TV to the CDMS News Channel.
  • You Never Asked: The gang works for the school newspaper in this episode and is very passionate in their work. Never before in the series has this job ever been seen or mentioned, nor will we get any reference to it in future episodes.
