The Devil Wears Ghostier.
This special centers around Clawdeen finding her way as a designer, and Rochelle finding out what happened to her lost love. There's also the extra bit, From Fear to Eternity (which explains how everyone got home).

It introduces Jinafire Long, Skelita Calaveras, Catrine DeMew and Garrott DuRoque.

Scaris: City of Frights provides examples of:

  • Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder: Subverted with Rochelle and Garrott. Rochelle fears that this is the case with her long-distance boyfriend Garrott, who has since stopped writing letters to her since she started attending Monster High. As it turns out, he was being held captive by Moanatella and was unable to write to her, but still pined for Rochelle endlessly.
  • An Aesop: It is better to do what you are passionate about your way than copying someone else.
  • Big Bad: Moanatella Ghostier. A fashion icon whose inspiration has run dry, so she lures promising designers with an apprenticeship, then locks them away to serve as her ghost designer. She did this to Garrott (and who knows how many others) and plans to do this to Clawdeen.
  • Everyone Hates Mimes: A skeletal one makes fun of the boys while they're trying to find the ghouls in Scaris. When Clawd calls him out on it... he dings an invisible bell and disappears.
  • Gay Paree: Scaris, where our story mostly takes place. Buskers, berets, and accordion music ahoy.
  • Nerds Love Tough Schoolwork: In the movie, the cast was given an incredibly hard math problem to do in class that no monster had ever done before. Jackson was ecstatic. In fact, he solved it, but the bell rang before he could show the teacher.
  • Unconventional Vehicle Chase: Rochelle and Frankie chase someone they believe to be Garrott through the streets of Scaris—on scooters!
