When the freaky-fab guys and ghouls of Monster High get wrongly accused of Halloween high jinx by a group of normies, things get spooky. But can they prove their innocence in time for a spooktacular celebration?

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Jackson and how he suffers as the only normie in a school for monsters is central in this special.
  • An Aesop: Get to know people before you judge them instead of blindly believing prejudices because you might just make some new friends.
  • Convicted by Public Opinion: Invoked. When the Ghouls come forward with evidence of Holt's innocence, the Sheriff smugly tells them that he doesn't actually care if Holt is guilty or not because the public has already declared him guilty and so he intends to give them what they want.
  • Evil Has Standards: Lilith starts just like her uncle, prejudiced against monsters and willing to frame them/torment them to keep them separated from humans. But she is genuinely horrified when the sheriff announces he plans to EXECUTE Holt/Jackson for a crime she framed him for. This and realizing that monsters and normies are not so different from each other leads to her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Fantastic Racism: While humans having issues with monsters was always alluded to, a central theme of this special is that normies and monsters are bigoted against each other, With Jackson/Holt being on the receiving end from monsters/normies respectively. Frankie desires to change that.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: An unintentional variant; while being pursued by the cops in New Salem, the ghouls hide at a Halloween party.
  • I Am Spartacus: At the climax, when the Sheriff threatens to arrest all monsters at the Halloween party, the normie kids put on masks and declare themselves monsters, starting with Lilith.
  • Odd Friendship: Cleo and Lilith Van Hellscream, of all people, bond over their love of designer clothes and how exhausting being the queen bee is.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Mixed with Disproportionate Retribution and Fantastic Racism. The normies plan to execute Holt for supposedly vandalizing the normie school in part to "put monsters in their place". The sheriff is worse however because not only does he know that Holt is also Jackson (a normie) but he still intends to execute him/them even after Lilith confesses to doing it.
