A biker named Reb Gustafson (Reb Brown) gets out of prison and is reunited with his former gang, the Violators. He finds out that his friend, Edward "The Wire" Constantine, has been killed and vows revenge on whatever individual is responsible. Reb shows just what sort of individual he is by killing new member Charlie to take his bike.
Watching the funeral, Reb finds out about all of the Wire's former business partners as the audience discovers that Tubbs is actually the man who killed him. It was during a police shoot out and to protect civilians. Reb's gang proceeds to start killing most of the Wire's business partners and discovers the cover identities of Sonny and Crockett from an easily intimidated Izzy.
Then the action gets...gratuitous.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- All Bikers are Hells Angels: Reb and his gang are mass murdering psychotic crazy people who terrorize Miami for a week.
- Apathetic Citizens: Reb snipes a man at his birthday, causing him to fall dead into his cake. His guests just sort of wander off.
- Avenging the Villain: Reb intends to avenge The Wire by any means necessary.
- Bad Boss: Reb kills a newcomer to his gang for his bike and the others shrug it off.
- Denser and Wackier: Miami Vice gives up its usual gritty yet flashy police procedural rules for a grindhouse B-movie's action and violence.
- Establishing Character Moment: Reb blows up the car he came in with a pistol. No, it doesn't make sense but it says everything you need to know about this episode.
- Fake Shemp: Very conspicuous stunt doubles for Don Johnson and Reb Brown are used during Reb's attempt to pull a Taking You with Me by wrestling Sonny over the side of the boat. Probably because Johnson's stunt double hit his head on the side of the cargo ship in an unscripted accident, and the production team felt the resulting footage looked cool enough that it was worth using even with the obvious doubling involved.
- Implacable Man: Reb seems less like a human being and more like the Terminator brought to Miami. He shrugs off everything from beatings to bullets.
- Informed Attribute: The Wire was apparently one of the largest drug dealers in the country, controlling a third of the cocaine in Miami. There's no sign that he was anything other than a poor biker and Reb has to rob a criminal to pay for his sister to be taken care of.
- I Surrender, Suckers: The Violators surrender to the SWAT team only to blow up their vehicle with a rocket launcher.
- Reality Is Out to Lunch: The action in this episode is cartoonish, super-violent, and the characters are ridiculous Invincible Villain types. It's a very different feel from the rest of the series.
- Oddly Small Organization: The Violators are a terrifying biker gang that consists of five members with two of them dead at the start.
- The Sociopath: A doctor describes Reb as a sociopath with no regard for human life.
- 'Tis Only a Bullet in the Brain: Tubbs gets shot in the head for the Commercial Break Cliffhanger. When the show comes back after the break, all he has to show for it is a minor concussion.
- Video Will: The Wire leaves one for Reb and the other bikers.
