Recap / Lucifer (2016) S06E07 "My Best Fiend's Wedding"

Go To

While Maze and Eve are preparing their wedding, their happiness is rocked by the arrival of Eve's ex, Adam, who wants to reconcile with her. Chloe has decided to rejoin the LAPD so she may be able to reform the organization. Meanwhile, Ella continues to suspect that her friends may have been lying to her about their identities all this time.

Tropes present in the episode include:

  • Continuity Nod: When Ella reveals that she knows that Eve is the Eve, she pauses for a moment to remember that they kissed once.
  • Funny Background Event: When Linda is talking with Adam during the wedding, Maze can be seen in the background trying to give Trixie alcohol and Eve stopping her.
  • Give Away the Bride: Linda walks Maze down the aisle. Adam offers to do this for Eve, but she decides to walk alone instead. At the reception, Linda explains to Adam that Maze needed someone with her after her history of being isolated and rejected. Eve, who was literally created for someone else and never had a sense of self, needed to be independent.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: Adam's views on women are rather backward, which isn't surprising since he had a woman literally created for him, and his son Abel was pretty misogynistic as well. With Linda's help, he starts to grow out of this.
  • In Vino Veritas: Upon getting hammered, Ella snaps and starts to rant about how she knew that all of her close friends have been lying to her about their divinity.
  • Internal Reveal: Played with as Ella is finally let in on the celestials... only after revealing that she's been on to this whole thing for quite some time.
  • Lohengrin and Mendelssohn: Maze walks to the altar while a metal rendition of the Lohengrin plays in the background.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Linda, when she realizes that Adam is intent on kidnapping her to try and stop the wedding (which she's officiating). "I'm in trouble, aren't I?"
    • Later, Adam himself has one when a very pissed-off Maze is left alone with him tied to a chair.
    • Ella has a huge one at the end when she realizes that, of the large crowd of assorted celestial beings around her, not one knew about the imminent apocalypse.
  • Precision F-Strike: Maze and Eve drop one each during their wedding vows, telling each other "I love you so fucking much".
  • Stood Up: Platonic version. Lucifer promises to take Rory for a dress fitting, but he never shows up, because he is helping Maze and Eve reconcile (and Rory said that she wasn't going to show up).
  • Unconventional Wedding Dress: Maze, almost inevitably, wears a black leather dress for her wedding to Eve (who's wearing a more traditional off-white gown).
  • Visual Innuendo: When Adam is in Linda's office there's a set of glassware on the coffee table with two shorter glasses on either side of a tall carafe that just happen to end up framed in front of his crotch.
  • Wedding Episode: Maze and Eve get married in this episode.
