Carne means meat.
After installing a new guidance chip into GIR, Zim takes him into the city to get them lost and test it out. Unfortunately, GIR removed it (to make room for a cupcake), forcing Zim to rely on his wits to get them home before he gets to the end of them.

Tropes of Doom:

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: One of the members of the SWAT team in the bank scene is gigantic for absolutely no reason.
  • All for Nothing: After Zim and GIR walked all the way into town to test GIR's homing device, it turns out GIR had it removed to make room for a cupcake.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Zim's response to GIR admitting to having left behind the homing device.
  • Bilingual Bonus: After winding up in Mexico, a little girl offers Zim and GIR candy labeled "feo," which is Spanish for "ugly."
  • Blinded by the Sun: Zim points out that the earth's sun sets west, so he stares at the sun to determine where west is. This results in his eyes burning up, forcing him to lay down and wait for them to regenerate.
  • Brick Joke: The episode's plot really kicks in when it turns out GIR left behind his guidance chip to make room for a cupcake. At the episode's climax, it turns out that he also removed his jet fuel to make room for tuna.
  • Dance Party Ending: With GIR, a random Mexican man and two rats (coupled?) dancing.
  • Doomy Dooms of Doom: The title.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: GIR suggested to Zim that they could use the Information Booth for directions on how to get home. Zim out of sheer pride refuses to ask a human for help even if it's just for navigation.
  • Eating Machine: GIR took out the new homing device to make room for a cupcake. And removed the fuel for the rockets in his feet to make room for tuna.
  • Eye Scream: Zim look at the sun to determine which direction is west. Unfortunately, it melts his lenses, causing him temporary blindness and forcing him to wait until they scab over.
  • Misplaced Sorrow: GIR cries after Zim scolds him, but it turns out GIR just misses the cupcake he just ate.
GIR: I miss you, cupcake! (holds the wrapper)
  • Mistaken Identity: Zim, in his old man disguise, is mistaken for a bank robber.
  • No Ending: Zim and GIR wind up in Mexico, thus getting them even further from home.
  • Pet the Dog: Zim understandably freaks out when GIR tells him he took the guidance chip out, but decides that losing his temper won't do them any good once he sees GIR crying. Subverted in that GIR just missed his cupcake.
  • The Snack Is More Interesting: While Zim is berating GIR for leaving behind the homing device back home, he notices GIR crying and decides not to berate any further. But GIR states he cries for his cupcake.
  • South of the Border: Zim and GIR are dropped off by their cab driver in a filthy Mexican town at the end.note
