"It's a Snap" is the twenty-second episode of the first (internet) season of Happy Tree Friends.

Splendid is busy sewing when Lumpy is suddenly shown screaming. Hearing this, Splendid flies away from his headquarters to the moose's location. There, he discovers that Lumpy is covered in bear traps, all in an effort to eat cheese set as bait. Splendid tries to remove one of the traps snapped on one of Lumpy's arms, but he fails, causing said arm to get snapped off and begin to bleed out. Splendid quickly fixes the problem by tying the skin on the arm like a balloon knot. He then thinks for a while before coming up with a better idea. He chops and kicks the traps away from Lumpy's body, gathers them all, then throws them off into the distance. Unbeknownst to him, the traps land at where Cub is currently playing, with one bear trap crushing his head. Splendid and Lumpy then shake hands before the former leaves, but not much later, Lumpy gets hit by another trap again, just bigger this time. With a sigh, Splendid uses his heat vision to break it. After a job well done, Splendid finally flies back home, unaware that his laser beam managed to decapitate Lumpy.

"It's a Snap" contains the following:

  • Accidental Murder: Splendid unknowingly kills Cub and Lumpy in this episode.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: Lumpy's antlers.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Lumpy loses an arm thanks to Splendid messing up.
  • Artistic License – Physics: Despite one of the bear traps landing on Cub's ball, the ball itself does not show any signs of being deflated.
  • Bear Trap: The objects of interest in this episode.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death:
    • Cub's head gets crushed by a bear trap.
    • Lumpy gets decapitated by Splendid's laser.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Splendid's first attempt at removing a bear trap ends with him accidentally snapping off Lumpy's arm.
    • Despite all that trouble, Lumpy still manages to get hit by yet another bear trap. Even worse, it is much bigger.
  • Eye Beams: The first time Splendid uses this ability.
  • Idea Bulb: Appears when Splendid finally gets a better idea for removing the bear traps.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The episode's official description wonders why a moose like Lumpy would want to eat cheese.
  • Meaningful Name: "It's a snap" means that something is easy to accomplish, fitting for Splendid's attempt at helping Lumpy (well, not counting the first, Epic Fail one).
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: First, Splendid manages to accidentally snap off Lumpy's arm. Second, him throwing away the traps into a random direction ends with him accidentally killing an innocent Cub. Third, his lazy effort using Eye Beams ends with him unknowingly decapitating Lumpy.
  • Off with His Head!: Lumpy's death.
  • Super-Senses: Splendid's highly sensitive hearing catches Lumpy's scream, prompting the former to go help the latter.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Lumpy and Cub die.
  • Updated Re-release: One of the early episodes to be part of "Classics Remastered" releases, which rerelease early HTF episodes in HD.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The inactive bear traps surrounding Lumpy suddenly disappear after the first shot featuring them.
