Secret door, secret door, SECRET DOOR!
Bloo discovers a door in the home that everyone is forbidden to open. After getting no one to tell him what is inside and having a bad dream about it in the middle of the night, Bloo finally opens the door, and releases imaginary friends called Scribbles. Mr. Herriman labels them as annoying, but Mac thinks they are more than just that.

The episode provides examples of:

  • The Dreaded Toilet Duty: When Bloo gets the Scribbles to do chores for him, Frankie finds out and likes this idea, making one of them scrub the toilets. When humans decide to adopt the Scribbles at the end of the episode, having found out how useful they are, only one Scribble remains. Frankie hopes that it's the toilet-scrubbing Scribble, but to both her dismay and Bloo's delight, it's the Scribble that blows raspberries.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Two of them in this episode:
    • Mac has the first one when he realizes that Scribbles can be given their freedom from the secret door by showing the rest of Foster's that the Scribbles can be useful and helpful. It works, but a little too well when it results in most of the inhabitants becoming lazy and the Scribbles to be used as a Servant Race.
    • Mr. Herriman gets another for resolving the above problem by having the Scribbles get adopted for their helpful nature.
  • Expospeak Gag: Mr. Herriman comes up with some complicated ways of describing what the Scribbles are ("The nattering notions of neonates") before Frankie simply says that they're the imaginary friends of babies.
  • Facepalm: At the end, with only Bloo's raspberry-blowing scribble remaining, Mac, Mr. Herriman, and Frankie spend the final minute of the episode doing this as Bloo and the Scribble do this to each other to the point where Bloo does it to the audience.
  • Forbidden Fruit: The secret door behind which the titular Scribbles are kept. Bloo's curiosity of the door is ignited by Mr. Herriman mentioning "Deep, dark, mysterious secrets" when explaining why the door should remain shut and fueled by everyone else avoiding talking about it whenever he asks. Eventually he can't take it anymore and sneaks off at night to open it.
Bloo: Secret doors, who needs 'em? What do I care about secret doors? ... and the unparalleled delights they keep hidden from the world!
  • Like A Broken Record: Eventually, Bloo is reduced to saying "Secret door, secret door, secret door..." as he becomes more obsessed with it.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Bloo's reaction when he gets poured in the wave of Scribbles.
Bloo: [to the camera] Uh oh.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Everyone absolutely refuses to tell Bloo what's behind the mysterious door in the house (although Bloo has the right to know as a resident, and the only one who doesn't know at that), which results in his curiosity getting the better of him and opening it.
  • Porky Pig Pronunciation: At the end of the episode, people decide to adopt the Scribbles after finding out they can help them out with their chores. This exchange occurs from people who adopted the Scribbles:
    Maid: My Scribble scrubs screens!
Little Boy: My Scribble scrubs scooters!
Father: My Scrubble scribs... I mean, my Scrib scrubbles... I mean... mine does stuff, too.
  • Smart Ball: Bloo held this around the second act, being quick to find out how the scribbles worked and how they could be helpful rather than nuisances. However, due to his selfishness, it was Mac who shared this knowledge with the rest of the house.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Frankie points out to Herriman that the whole Scribble flood could be prevented if they locked the closet, instead of simply keeping a sign on it saying "STAY AWAY — DO NOT ENTER". Herriman defends his decision not to put up locks because he claims "self-restraint, Miss Francis, is the only lock that door requires", but considering Bloo's curiosity getting the better of the self-restraint...
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: The episode ends with Bloo blowing a raspberry at the audience, spraying them with copious amounts of spit.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Or rather, what measure is a non-imaginary friend. Mac insists that as the Scribbles are technically imaginary friends, they should have the same rights as everyone else at Foster's, though Frankie (initially) and Mr. Herriman say otherwise due to their ordinarily bothersome nature.
