Go To

Bean and Zog end up in Maru, where Bean is taken in by the queen of the Crones who wants to help her learn to control her magic so she can free Maru from Cloyd and Becky. Meanwhile, in Dreamland, Elfo and Mop Girl try to start a revolution against Dagmar.

Tropes

  • Back from the Dead: Bad Bean's head and body are reunited, fully restoring her to life.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Crone Queen from the first episode of Part 2 returns.
  • Deadly Dust Storm: When the training of Bean seemingly fails, the Crones lock her outside the gates of Maru just as a sandstorm is approaching. However, it turns out the storm was another test, as Bean manages to repel it.
  • Fisher King: With Cloyd and Becky gone, the gate to Hell closed and the flame of the eternal oracle extinguished, the royal palace crumbles while the land of Maru becomes lush and green again.
  • Foreshadowing: Like Malfus, the Crone Queen warns Bean that someone she loves will end up killed in the near future.
  • Frequently Full Moon: The man who keeps getting shot by arrows for pointing out plot-holes appears again, this time pointing out, among other things, how the moon in Dreamland always seems to be full.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: Cloyd and Becky turning themselves into puppets in the previous season comes back to bite them when Bad Bean burns them. With his last breath Cloyd openly wonders why they thought it was a good idea to become puppets.
  • Human Cannonball: Cloyd and Becky shoot their Goon soldiers, armed with knives, from a cannon at the balloon Bean and Zog are in. The first two miss, and while the third lands on the balloon, Zog disarms him before he can rip the balloon apart. Not that it matters much as Zog ends up tearing the balloon himself.
  • Idiot Ball: Vip and Vap steal Bad Bean's head and run around with it. If their intention was to hide it from Bad Bean's torso, they do a bad job.
  • Internal Reveal: Dagmar learns that Bean is still alive.
  • Killed Off for Real: Cloyd and Becky die when Bad Bean throws them into the fireplace.
  • Manifesto-Making Malcontent: While discussing how to go about deposing Dagmar, Bunty pulls out a manifesto and starts into a speech about watering the flowers of freedom with the blood of the aristocracy... only to be told to shut up.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Zog uses a hook on a pole to knock down the Goon that landed on the balloon, but ends up tearing the balloon in the process.
  • Not Quite Back to Normal: Bean manages to reattach the Crone's hands... but not to the right arms. However, she doesn't seem to mind.
  • Refusal of the Call: Mop Girl has no interest in Elfo's plan that she should lead the revolution, even though she knows the castle better than anyone and as a half human/half elf she can unite all the various species living in Dreamland. She eventually steps up to the task by the end of the episode.
  • The Reveal:
    • We learn that Dagmar brought Vip, Vap and Voop to Dreamland after supposedly rescuing them (or, at she puts it, hunting them) from Yum Yum Island, and she made them their matching clothes, and that she killed Voop for defying her.
    • The Crones are the ones who placed the curse on Zog's family.
  • Take That!: When they can't decide who should lead the revolution, Luci concludes that there's no other choice than to do this the worst way possible; Democracy.
  • We Can Rule Together: Cloyd and Becky try to convince Bean to conquer both Maru and Dreamland together. She refuses.
  • William Telling: The Crone queen has Bean try to shoot a pineapple off Zog's head with her lightning. The pineapple falls off his head and Zog bends down to pick it up, just in time as Bean would have hit him with her lightning otherwise. Zog faints when he realizes how close a call this was.
