Go To

Bean and friends still have to hide Bad Bean's body from Dagmar, but encounter trouble when Dagmar puts all of Dreamland in lockdown. Meanwhile, Zog wakes up in a cell in Steamland and escape to find his sons, but ends up accidentally joining a wrestling match against a robot. When Bean finds out her father is in Steamland, she and Mora set out to rescue him.

Tropes:

  • Acid Pool: Sorcerio has an acid bath in his tower and the protagonists plan to dispose of Bad Bean's body in it. Unfortunately, it turns out the acid was too corrosive for the tub to contain and has melted through all of the floors of the tower before ending up in the dungeon.
  • Cassandra Truth: Nobody in Steamland believes Zog when he tries to convince them he is an actual king and really is looking for his sons, who happen to be a bear, a lizard and a wooden puppet.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Or Chekhov's bow. Bean's first bow, adapted to a human toddler or someone the size of an elf, is the one Elfo will use to accidentaly shoot his past self, three episodes later.
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Bean and Mora find a Steamland TV in the cathedral and turn it on. Coincidentally, the tv is tuned in to the camera hidden in Zog's crown, and precisely at that moment Zog is beginning to lament to himself what a failure his life is, thus showing Bean and Mora that he needs help.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Zog reaches his by the end of the episode; he is lost in a land strange to him, has encountered nothing but misery while there, and as he's hiding in an alleyway from the wrestlers that are chasing after him he comes to realize he has never truly been happy in a love except when he was with Ursula, whom he believes to be dead now, and that him being a king has only brought him pain. He doesn't even care anymore when the wrestlers find him and beat him up.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: While he and Bean weren't dating and only kissed once, Elfo is blatantly jealous of Mora the Mermaid being Bean's girlfriend and goes out of his way to be rude and condescending towards her.
  • Lockdown: Dagmar puts all of Dreamland into lockdown, with nobody being allowed to leave their homes. For those that are homeless, graves are reserved.
  • Man Versus Machine: Zog vs the robot. He was supposed to lose the fight since his character is the heel, but since he's not familiar with the rules and scripts of wrestling, Zog ends up winning.
  • Mistaken Identity: Zog is mistaken for another wrestler that uses a King motif, hence how he ends up in the ring.
  • Produce Pelting: The audience at the wrestling ring pelt Zog with whatever they have after he beats his opponent, which he wasn't supposed to do, and then asks for help to find Derek, Jasper and Freckles.
  • Pro Wrestling Episode: For Zog, who ends up fighting a wrestling match against a robot.
  • The Reveal:
    • Someone, likely the Arch-Druidess, has been hiding items from Steamland in the basement of the cathedral.
    • Both Mora and Bean believed the other walked out on her following the events of "Last Splash", but it turns out neither did. Which means a third person, implied to be one or more of the other mermaids, separated them while they slept.
  • Shout-Out: To Breaking Bad, whose second episode featured an attempt by the main characters to dissolve a body using acid and a bathtub, only for the attempt to go awry when the acid ate right through the bathtub and the floor below. In a bizarre coincidence, another Groening's show, Futurama, made the exact same Shout Out in the episode that was released on Hulu/Disney+ the week this show's final season was released on Netflix. To make it weirder, this is the first Futurama episode to make a direct shout-out to Disenchantment, when Professor Farnsworth sees Bean, Luci and Elfo through the windshield of his time machine, and by this it is the one that seems to more or less confirm the fan theory according to which the two shows take place in the same universe but at different times.
  • So Much for Stealth: Mora and Bean manage to hide in the cathedral's confession booth, until Mora accidentally rings the church bell.
