Recap / BoBoiBoy S1 E6 "A New Form Awakens!"

Go To

BoBoiBoy Lightning wakes up as a prisoner on Adu Du's ship. The latter says that he kidnapped him so that BoBoiBoy would permanently lose his memory. Adu Du thinks he's triumphed until he realises the book he stole from Tok Aba was for recording debts, not a secret recipe. When Adu Du fails to get the recipe out of Lightning, he brings him to his torture room. However, Probe and Computer have converted the torture room into a party room to celebrate their victory.

Popping a balloon in anger, Adu Du learns that Lightning is afraid of popping balloons and exploits it by continuously bursting balloons in his face. After the last one pops, Lightning's eyes snap red. He trembles in anger, transforms and breaks free of his shackles. The transformed elemental glares in anger, and Adu Du commands Probe to attack, but he's swiftly defeated. Probe stops him by blurting out that this is part of a surprise birthday party for him. Due to his worsening memory, the boy believes and befriends them.

The rest of the good guys are relieved to know that nothing was lost with the stolen book but the Earth and Wind elementals argue about who is the real BoBoiBoy. Tok Aba pulls them out of their fight by their ears. Yaya and Ying later go around searching for BoBoiBoy Lightning, but report back to the rest at Tok Aba's house that neither he nor Adu Du's ship are anywhere to be seen. The other two elementals are temporarily incapacitated because Gopal had hit them with frying pans in an attempt to restore their memories. The doorbell rings, and there is BoBoiBoy Lightning - or so they think. He proclaims himself as Ada Da and lets out a cackle, while Ochobot detects his elevated power levels and loss of identity.

"Ada Da"note  proceeds to attack Gopal when he uses his "frying pan trick" on the former. He flees, taking the battle outside. The rogue elemental blocks Yaya from rescuing Gopal, and she asks why he would attack his best friend. Adu Du appears to announce that he is his true best friend. Yaya, Ying and Gopal proceed to fight him when he blocks them from attacking Adu Du, but the lightning elemental defeats them all. Adu Du points his comrade to attack Tok Aba, who tries reminding him that he's his grandfather.

BoBoiBoy Earth and BoBoiBoy Wind show up to defend Tok Aba. They tell the attacker that he and the two of them are all BoBoiBoy, but the villains claim they are deceiving him. Earth and Wind gain the upper hand at first, then the battle goes back and forth, one against two. "Ada Da" blinds them with a widespread flash of light before electrocuting them from behind. He's about to finish them off until Probe comments "Awesome!" on how cool he is. This triggers BoBoiBoy's memory to return in the lightning elemental, and he swiftly turns on his false friends and defeats them, forcing them to retreat. The team rejoices, and BoBoiBoy merges back to his whole self again before embracing Tok Aba.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Balloon of Doom: Played with. The villains exploit BoBoiBoy Lightning's fear of popping balloons by bursting several of them in his face, up until he reaches his Rage Breaking Point.
  • By the Lights of Their Eyes: In a flashback to the previous episode to when Adu Du and Probe were trapped underground, both of their eyes are visible. This is explainable for Probe being a robot with red glowing eyes, but less so for Adu Du's whites and pupils, especially since his mouth is filled with dirt momentarily.
  • Criminal Amnesiac: BoBoiBoy Lightning is kidnapped particularly so the elementals cannot reunite and thus the hero would lose his memory for good. When the captive unlocks an upgrade, the villains take advantage of his forgetfulness, giving him the name "Ada Da" to fit his allegiance to them, and having him attack his friends and Tok Aba to get the recipe out of him. It works just until he can take them all down because Probe accidentally allows him to regain his memories.
  • Extreme Close-Up: Occurs on BoBoiBoy Lightning/Thunderstorm's eye quite a few times. His fearful eyes under the first being when he transforms into his upgraded form and the camera focuses on his squint as his eye turns red, with an electrical sound reminiscent of a crack. Others occur to invoke his wide-eyed shock in battle when he's outwitted or under attack.
  • Ear Ache: Tok Aba literally pulls BoBoiBoy Wind and BoBoiBoy Earth out of their fight by the ears just before they can lay their attacks on each other. The elementals cry out in pain and concede to stop fighting.
  • Eyed Screen: After Gopal hits BoBoiBoy Thunderstorm in the back of the head with a frying pan, the latter sharply turns his head and glares at him, the sound of a drawn sword accompanying the black bars from the top and bottom about his eyes.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: Played for laughs. Gopal hits BoBoiBoy Earth and BoBoiBoy Wind in the back of the head with frying pans to get their memories back because it worked in a TV show he watched. He can't recall the show in particular, so Ochobot swings a pan at his head to get him to remember. Gopal hits BoBoiBoy Thunderstorm on the head as well, interrupting the latter's Evil Laugh and earning his wrath.
  • Head Desk: Adu Du slams his head on the table in disbelief over how ridiculously BoBoiBoy Lightning is misnaming him.
BoBoiBoy Lightning: Just you wait A... Ago Go!
    Adu Du: ...
BoBoiBoy Lightning: Oh, was I wrong? Uh, Pak Pak?
Adu Du: [smacks head on table]
  • Mood Whiplash: BoBoiBoy Thunderstorm goes from wanting to kill his abductors to wanting to befriend them because his memory is deteriorating, as he easily believes their claims that they are celebrating his birthday.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Tok Aba stops his superpowered grandchildren from fighting each other by pulling them by the ears, even calling the attack like they do.
Tok Aba: Prepare for my Ear Twist attack!
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: If Probe haven't say "Awesome", BoBoiBoy could have not remembered everything and Adu Du could have won.
  • Regained Memories Sequence: The rogue elemental receives one upon hearing his old catchphrase, leading him to recall every instance he ever said "Awesome", thus returning his memory as BoBoiBoy.
  • The Slow Walk: BoBoiBoy Thunderstorm approaches the fleeing Gopal in this manner with his Thunder Blade dragging on the ground, and again as he approaches his elemental brethren to finish them off. He uses his Flash Step otherwise when moving.
  • Word, Schmord!: In the English dub, Adu Du says "Grandson schmandson!" to Tok Aba saying that BoBoiBoy's rogue duplicate is his grandson, and he keeps convincing the duplicate under his control to keep on fighting his friends.
