Go To

Old Beavis and Butt-Head pretend to be veterans so they can drink at the American Legion hall.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Belvis and Bunhowzen, courtesy of Tom Anderson.
  • And This Is for...: When the veterans are beating up our heroes, Tom Anderson says "this one's for Ho Chi Minh, you son of a bitch!" note
  • Bait-and-Switch: One of the veterans, who bears a striking resemblance to Harry Sachz from "Prank Call," is initially suspicious of our heroes' fake war stories. When he confronts them, he reveals that he thinks they work for the CIA and are just keeping their cover.
  • Continuity Nod: Possibly too "Married", as Old Beavis recalls during the music video how his license is suspended.
  • Epic Fail: Old Beavis and Butt-Head are asked to hang an American flag on a flagpole. They instead take an old Viet Cong flag and fly it over the American Legion hall, thinking it's an American flag. The veterans realize that the two aren't veterans at all, and promptly beat them up.
  • Holiday Episode: Takes place during Flag Day.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: In this alternate continuity, we see Tom Anderson finally beat down old Beavis and Butt-head alongside his buddies after what we presume is a lifetime of the duo getting away with making Anderson's life difficult, since these two never time-traveled.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The veterans inflict this on our heroes by beating the hell out of them for pretending to be veterans to get free beer and for flying the Viet Cong flag over the Legion hall.
  • Late to the Realization: The episode ends with Beavis belatedly realizing that you need to be a military veteran to drink at the Legion while he and Butt-Head are hanging from a flagpole.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: The veterans hang our heroes from the flag pole after beating them up.
  • LOL, 69: The pair pretend to be from the 69s battallion, which grants them plenty of action.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The veterans — including Tom Anderson — beat the crap out of the duo for flying the Viet Cong flag.
  • Noodle Incident: Old Beavis keeps trying to talk about an incident involving the ice cream machine at Burger World back in the 90s, but always gets interrupted.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Subverted when one of the veterans confronts our heroes about their fake war stories. He thinks they're from the CIA and that their confused reactions to his accusation are just their playing dumb to keep their cover. The subversion is that our heroes really are that stupid, and honestly have no idea what he's talking about.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: The veterans think Beavis and Butt-Head are sharing war stories, but the duo are either talking about their old jobs at Burger World, or just making their usual sexual innuendos.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: One of the veterans is still feeling shaken from his service judging by the hushed way he talks, and when Beavis shouts his exuberant "Fire, FIRE!" catchphrase, he assumes the latter is experiencing traumatic flashbacks like he implicitly does.
  • The Smurfette Principle: There's only one woman at the VFW.
  • Take That!: Old Butt-Head refers to Fiats as a tiny crap wagon, and Old Beavis adds that he's so fat, he probably won't fit in one anyways.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Anderson finally gets a chance to give Beavis and Butt-Head some payback in this continuity when he and his buddies kick their asses and hang them by their underwear on the flagpole.
  • Title Drop: By one of the vets when Old Beavis and Butt-Head unwittingly fly the Vietcong flag over the VFW.
  • You Are Fat: Old Beavis remarks that Old Butt-Head is too fat to fit in a Fiat.
