Left to right: Tuka and Sterling
Tuka, a star track athlete, is killed after she's hit by a car after she leaves a drag race. Her best friend Sterling is left, reeling, with the ghost Tuka resolving to help her find the driver and get justice. The reason she's left on earth though may in fact be something entirely different from what she thinks...

Tropes:

  • All Just a Dream: It turns out everything which Tuka experienced after being hit by the car did not happen. The experience was to make her act on her feelings for Sterling, and help DJ.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: This happens twice. Tuka and Sterling kiss after mutually voicing their love for each both while Tuka's dreaming she's a ghost, then later after she's back into reality, where the first thing she says is asking for this.
  • Go into the Light: Tuka helps DJ pass on into the afterlife at the end.
  • Karma Houdini: The man who hit Tuka with the car never gets his comeuppance on screen. The closest he gets is Sterling smashing up his car in Tuka's dream after being hit and it just makes him decide to smash Sterling's knee with a baseball bat in return.
  • Lesbian Jock: Tuka and Sterling both turn out to be queer girls, confessing their love for each other, while also being passionate track runners.
  • Love Confession: Sterling confesses that she loves Tuka as more than simply a friend. Tuka reciprocates her feelings.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Tuka and Sterling are both keen track runners. Both help each other train and are shown running multiple times.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: At first, Tuka and Sterling just seem to be best friends. Sterling however confesses that she loves Tuka romantically, who it turns out feels the same way.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: Tuka angrily asks God or whoever else is up there why she's stuck around as a ghost if she can't help Sterling.
  • Unfinished Business: Tuka and DJ are both stuck as ghosts. He's been that way for decades, and has tried many different things to pass into the afterlife, with nothing working. Tuka helps Sterling train to win in a track meet, thinking that's hers. She later helps him pass on in the end.
  • Would Hit a Girl: The guy who'd hit Tuka with his car that Sterling smashed up tracks her down, then has his goon take a bat to her leg in revenge for this.
