Quotes in the Black Crayons series:

Her mom and dad had told her on the first day of preschool that Ironhide was a secret. She could not talk to her teacher or friends about him. She could not let anyone know or bad things could happen. Bad things could happen to Ironhide. Annabelle made sure that no one would ever hurt Ironhide, so all her pictures at school were him as a truck. He turns into a truck to hide from people, so in all her pictures at school he was hiding. That way no one would ever see him and hurt him.
Black Crayons

Sarah: Ironhide, did you have to scare the poor girl that bad?
Ironhide: She fell asleep. Also, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of Annabelle myself. All I did was keep an optic on her.
William: You did a possessed car act. Didn't Bumblebee do something like that to Sam and he freaked out?
Ironhide: Where do you think I got the idea?
Baby-Sitter's Nightmare

Annabelle: Ironhide, I've got something for you. [gives him a drawing of Cybertron; as he is examining the picture] I know you miss your home, Ironhide. You said it's really far away, so you can't go there a lot. So I drew Cybertron. That way you can see it and not be so sad. Does it look right? You said it was all metally and has other robots.
Ironhide: It's wonderful. Thank you, Annabelle.
Night Sky

Annabelle: Hi Ratchet, how are you?
Ratchet: Very well, child. And I see you are in good health. I almost couldn't find you, but between the news of a five-year old child and her joyride across base along with the warning of Mrs. Lennox's presence, I was able to locate you. I believe you are supposed to be in Med bay right now, Ironhide.
Ironhide: I was just on my way.
Ratchet: Good, then you won't mind me escorting you.
Annabelle: Have up a good check-up, Ironhide. It is just a check-up, not like when I sometimes go for a check-up and they give me a shot anyways? Cause its kind of mean to not warn someone about that.
— Ratchet having a laugh at Ironhide's expense, Summer Vacation, Ironhide and Ratchet

Ironhide: [after he and Chromia have target practice] I win.
Chromia: Just because you're able to pulverize multiple targets with a single shot at times. In my case, I actually took aim. I can hit a target without destroying everything within a mile.
Summer Vacation, Target Practice

Sarah: Should I ask? Should I ask why my daughter, who I left in your care, just participated in some kind of high-speed street race? Should I ask why Epps tried to keep us away from here with some flimsy excuse? Should I ask whose idea this was in the first place so I know who to 'discuss' this with?
Sam: No, I don't think you should ask those questions because I'd rather survive to see my next birthday, madam. I think everyone would be happier not learning those answers. Or at least, they'd live a longer life. [seeing that his words were having little effect in pacifying the woman, he glances at the car he's still sitting] Bumblebee, floor it!
Epps: [trying to run after Sam and Bumblebee] Wait, take me with you. Don't leave me to die!
Summer Vacation, Race

Optimus Prime: Hello, Annabelle. I take it your stay here has been enjoyable.
Annabelle: Yep, I got to see lots of nice friends, race, play at the beach, and play a trick on the twins. It was funny even if it was a little mean. But they started it. They would have done something to Ironhide.
Optimus Prime: They do have a talent at disruptive behavior, I was impressed at your command of the Cybertronian language. Ironhide has been teaching you, correct?
Annabelle: I asked him to. It's kind of hard and I don't know a lot yet, but I'm getting better. Ironhide is a really good teacher and I'm learning a whole bunch. It's just scratchy on my throat. Since all of you learn all about my planet and things like that, I thought I should learn some stuff about you guys. Besides, I think I surprised Skids and Mudflap.
Optimus Prime: [chuckles] I will guarantee that few members of the Autobots or NEST expected to hear you speaking that language. Other than your redecoration of those two, did anything else of interest occur during your visit?
Annabelle: Do you remember about the race? I rode with Chromia and we won. I think she and Ironhide should race together sometime.
Optimus Prime: Still trying to help them along? I believe you mentioned a desire to 'help' them before. I suggested that you allow them to handle this on their own.
Annabelle: I was just trying to help. I invited them to race so they could spend time. Besides, it would be fun. You could come too, but Daddy says you have to look all 'professional and leadership-ish.' That's why you can't play as much. You have to sit through boring meetings with 'stuffy humans with no sense in their heads.' I'm sorry that they bother you.
Optimus Prime: Such is one of the burdens of leadership, Earth's representatives take a lengthy amount of time to accept a simple concept, especially for such a short-lived species. But I have observed that some individuals are far worse than others in that regard. Some, such as Sam or your own father, are more accepting and offer hope that humanity is still evolving. You are, as I've stated in the past, a young species.
Annabelle: So the reason the grumpy guys in fancy suits act really silly is because people are really a bunch of babies? That's kind of funny cause it means that Sam is more grown-up than Simmons. So, does that mean you babysit them when you have those meetings? I know it can be hard to baby-sit someone if they try to cause problems. I hope they learn to be big kids someday.
Optimus Prime: I have heard you had an interesting encounter with Simmons.
Annabelle: He was really nosy and got grumpy when I told him that Daddy called him a 'big-headed joker'. But Daddy says that at least he's better than the 'stupid, bureaucratic, pain-in-the-neck Galloway.' But Daddy and Epps tricked him out of a plane so he doesn't cause problems for them anymore. Optimus, can I ask you something?
Optimus Prime: You just did, Annabelle. But you may ask another question if you wish.
Annabelle: You said that it was strange that the boring people took forever to learn stuff since they were members of a 'short-lived' species. How long do Cybertronians live?
Optimus Prime: I believe this question would be better for another day. No doubt your parents will be wondering where you have been.
Annabelle: Okay. I understand. It's one of those answers that I don't get until I get older, right?
Optimus Prime: No, it is just one that would be better to be handled by either your parents or Ironhide perhaps. Do you understand?
Annabelle: Thank you for talking. I know you're very busy.
Optimus Prime: Never too busy to have a very enlightening conversation with such a bright child.
Summer Vacation, Talking

Annabelle: My name is Annabelle. And you're a big mean bully. You just act tough when you scare people. Like Carl does. But if someone isn't scared, you don't know what to do. You have to stand up to bullies or else they always will pick on you. [smiles] And bullies get in trouble. 'Cause good guys stop them.
Barricade: Who can stop me, you?
Ironhide: No, me. [cue Curb-Stomp Battle for Barricade]
My First Decepticon, Conflict

Mearing: You are not a soldier. You are a messenger. You've always been a messenger.
Mikaela: Well, thanks for listening so well. After all, any important information about the Decepticons must be taken serious since it could be vital, and not immediately ignored because it was brought by someone who isn't in your chain of command. Have a nice night, ma'am.
Mearing: Don't call me 'ma'am.' I am...
Mikaela: Yes, you are a 'ma'am.' You're a woman, you're not married, so you're a 'ma'am.' Get used to it. (turns to leave with Sam)
Sam: [once he and Mikaela are out of earshot] That was so hot, 'Kaela. You can fight my battles anytime you like.
Mikaela: I'll remember that.
A Child's Innocence, Hidden Information

Charlotte, you might think you're an intimidating woman, but Sarah Lennox could leave Megatron whimpering in fear.
Seymour Simmons perfectly describing Sarah Lennox, A Child's Innocence, Broken Hearts, Reforged Courage

Chromia: Are you trying to get killed? You are the dumbest mech on this entire planet.
Ironhide: I was fine.
Chromia: Do you remember Ratchet saying to be careful? Do you remember the fact that you've already been nearly killed recently? Do you understand the concept of caution? You need to stay focused because none of the Autobots want to be the one to tell Annabelle you got killed by a second-rate Decepticon. We've lost enough 'bots already because of what Sentinel did. Jolt is gone. My sister is gone. And I don't want to lose you too. I can't lose anyone else important to me.
A Child's Innocence, More Than Meets The Optic

Dylan: See that? [points to Cybertron] I just saved a whole other world! You think you're a hero? You think you're a HERO!?"
Sam: No... I'm just the messenger! [rams Dylan with a metal bar, causing him to collide with the Pillar's energy beam, electrocuting him to death]
A Child's Innocence, Three-way Battle

Megatron: [as he's about to finish off Sentinel Prime] But I'll have to finish off Optimus as well this time, he and his followers have gotten in the way once too many times. I have to wonder, though... what will it be like without him around? Who will I be without him?
Sentinel Prime: I don't know. Who would he be without you?
Optimus Prime: Time to find out. [Cuts Megatron's right arm off with his axe and later beats Megatron with his own arm]
A Child's Innocence, Three-way Battle

Sentinel Prime: Optimus... all I ever wanted... was the survival of our race... You must see why I had to betray you...
Optimus Prime: [picks up Megatron's gun] As I said before you didn't betray me, Sentinel. You betrayed yourself. [takes aim at Sentinel
Sentinel Prime: NO, OPTIMUS...!
Optimus Prime: [fires the gun, killing Sentinel]
A Child's Innocence, Three-way Battle

Sam: [as he and Mikaela embrace] Told you I'd survive.
Mikaela: Guess I can't break up with you then.
Sam: I'm sure that you'll get over it, 'Kaela. After all, you love me.
Mikaela: Maybe... Or maybe I'm just used to having you around.
Sam: Well, I do love you and I promise I'll never let you go. I'll always be there for you and I'll always save you when you need me.
Mikaela: Promise?
Sam: Of course I do. If this doesn't prove it, I don't know what will.
(Bumblebee makes some rings out of washers and gears)
Mikaela: [smiling] Rings.
Sam: [laughs slightly; turns to Bumblebee] Yeah, but Beeā€¦ you got to slow down. You got to slow way down, okay? Besides, I don't think that it is a good idea. You shouldn't be the one proposing to Mikaela. Some people are better as friends, after all. [turns back to Mikaela] I, on the other hand, should be the one proposing. Mikaela, I love you and I want to be with you forever. It may sound corny and cliché and completely weird coming from me, but I'd like to marry you someday. Preferable after a shower and a chance for my arm to recover from Starscream trying to rip it off, but...
Mikaela: [kisses him]
Bumblebee: [using an audio clip from a sitcom] Aww...
Mikaela: [sliding Bumblebee's improvised ring on her finger] I love this car. And I definitely love the driver.
A Child's Innocence, Three-way Battle

Tommy: Do you remember when our only enemies were each other? When the only threats came from Earth? Now look at us. Our cities are crumbling. Our people are dying. Our children cower in fear. All because of these giant, inhuman, monstrous aliens that invaded our world. Those Cybertronians ruined everything. And the worst part is that they've managed to trick some people into thinking some of them aren't a threat.
Annabelle: They aren't. Decepticons are the bad robots. Autobots are nice.
Tommy: [hissing] Hey.
Mike: Just keep going, I'll edit it out later.
Tommy: Don't be fooled by the propaganda. They are not our friends. They are not our allies. All these transforming robots are alike.
Annabelle: No, Autobots have blue eyes. Decepticons have red ones. And they're really mean. They're nothing alike.
Tommy: Untrustworthy. Violent. Dangerous. They are not like us. They don't have hearts.
Annabelle: They have sparks.
Tommy: They don't have any real feelings.
Annabelle: Do too. They're people. They're not human, but they're still people. Stop lying.
Tommy: All Cybertronians are murderous monsters and we should drive them from our home while we still have the chance.
Annabelle: That's dumb. Carl was a bully at my school and has red hair. That doesn't mean all red-heads are bullies. And not all Cybertronians are bad either.
Tommy: This is our world. Not theirs. We won't let them take it.
Annabelle: The Autobots don't want to steal. We can share. We can all live together. We can be friends.
Izabella: [weakly smiling] I'd like that.
Tommy: [turning the camera towards the children] Look at what they've already taken from us. Look at these children orphaned by those aliens.
Luke: Nuh-uh, Daddy is helping fix the city. So are Annabelle's parents. And Danny's family is just missing.
Tommy: Think of the children. Is this what you want for their future? Are these the horrors you want them to face?
Emily: [arriving] Hey. What's with all the shouting?
Mike: Your boyfriend being dramatic.
Not According to Plan, Differing Opinions

Izabella: Hey, you know them [Chromia and Ironhide], right?
Wheelie: Chromia and Ironhide? Yeah. She and her sister turn into motorcycles. And he's a trigger-happy weapon specialist who turns into a truck when he isn't keeping an optic on Annabelle.
Izabella: And they... fought the bad robots? The Decepticons? The ones who attack here?
Wheelie: All of us did, but they probably took out a big chunk of them. Ironhide is especially good at blasting bots to pieces.
Izabella: Can... can you introduce me?
Wheelie: Sure. Let's get all of Mini-Ironhide's little friends together and do this right. She can help with introductions. She said your name is Izabella, right?
Izabella: Yes. With a 'Z.' But you can call me 'Izzy' if you like. [offers a handshake]
Wheelie: [chuckling; accepting the handshake] This is definitely less painful than my first meeting with Warrior Goddess. Come on then, Izzy.
