”Hiya, Georgie!”

"My friendship with all of yoo-oo-ou precludes… my involvement with any one of you, but if you… wanna make love then I do, too, and I’ll be… right there behind yooouu… all… in the name of lo-o-o-ove. All in the name of lo-o-O-o-Ove… all in the name of… LOOOOOOVE…" (piano chords rip)

The Loser’s Club Podcast is a weekly podcast that analyzes the works of Stephen King, digging deep into the author’s oeuvre and the myriad TV, film, print, and stage adaptations of his work.

Each episode, the Losers gather together to read between the iconic pages and share the latest in King’s Dominion, whether it’s the author’s oft-controversial tweets, the boldest Hollywood headlines, or his endless forthcoming projects.

Currently hosted by “Rockin’” Randall Colburn, Mel Kastle, Dan Caffrey, McKenzie Gerber, Jenn “the Rage” Adams, and Michael Roffman, with occasional appearances from McKenzie’s older brother, Justin ”’Lil Justo” Gerber. In addition, the series often features a number of special guests from various King-related productions.

The Loser’s Club Podcast provides examples of:

  • Author Appeal: Many hours of the podcast have been devoted to analyzing King’s, from his obsession with introducing attractive women in sweaters to his love of childhood friendships to his tendency for making his ghosts crack wise.
  • Berserk Button: Each of the Losers have a few of these, but Randall especially can’t stand what he calls “the Wise-Cracking Ghosts.”
  • But I Digress: Warning, if you started a drinking game for how often the hosts go off on tangents, you’ll die of liver poisoning. Often lampshaded by the hosts themselves when they realize they’d gone off-track.
  • Can't Believe I Said That: When Michael Roffman got to meet Stephen King at a book signing, he said the following:
"Thanks for the nightmares!" (cue Face Palm)
  • Caustic Critic: Defied Trope. Even on the occasional times they find little to love in a King work, they'll still analyze it's good point, and often go out of their way to balance things, finding a host or guest-host who genuinely likes the work. Just look at some of their crew's inexplicable affection for The Tommyknockers!
  • Good with Numbers: Justin Gerber is good at them enough they've taken to calling his skills "Gerber-lytics."
  • I Read It for the Articles: Seeing as a number of King short stories were contributed to magazines like Playboy, Penthouse, and Cavalier, much discussion is had about how many people actually read them before they were collected in non-porno formats.
  • Long List: Justin Gerber maintains a current, extensive, ranked list of his favorite film directors. Often, he'll be asked where a director related to the discussion ranks on the list, and no matter how obscure the director, he will pretty much always be able to rattle off a specific ranking for them.
  • Loony Fan: Michael Roffman worries that the one time he actually met Stephen King, he came off like this. See the Can't Believe I Said That above.
  • Nostalgia Filter: Frequently discussed as a topic. Many of King's stories hold up well for the losers, to their delight. Others? Not so much.
  • Origin Story: Baked into every episode is how each of the hosts came to first encounter the work they’re currently covering, going into where they were and how long ago it was. Gets pretty funny when it’s one of King’s freshly published books, since they’ll all bound to have the exact same story for how they came to read it.
  • Speak in Unison: An ongoing joke is how hard it is for them all to achieve this with their sign-off of "Long days, and pleasant nights."
  • The Film of the Book: Originally, they used to lump everything related to one of King’s books into the episode covering it, which meant that, say, their episode on Carrie also covered all three film adaptations that existed at the time. Now, they give the adaptations their own episodes.
