A tale of two sisters with opposite personalities.note

Akane and Chie Yumesaki are ordinary sisters who live in the Kansai region with their own family. Akane, the older Yumesaki sibling, is a foolhardy and sometimes immature high school student for her age. Chie, the younger Yumesaki sibling, is a responsible and serious middle school student, who is often put up to her sister's antics. A heartwarming, comedic tale of the two sisters come to the fore as they encounter people along the way with their unique interactions!

Onee-chan Biyori (おねぇちゃん日和, Big Day for Your Sister) is a Slice of Life Seinen manga written by Nerio, which was serialized by Comic Cune. Firstly released in March 27, 2021, the manga was compiled into three volumes, with 27 chapters total until its conclusion on November 27, 2023.

Definitely not to be confused with Onechanbara.

Onee-chan Tropes

  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: The entire manga is a manzai Slice of Life storynote  between Akane and Chie. Story-wise, Akane often takes the boke role, whereas Chie is the tsukkomi. Coincidentally, the manga's setting is also in Kansai region, which hammers the trope straight to the point.
  • Hair-Contrast Duo: Inverted. The bright orange-haired Chie is serious and mild-mannered, whereas the black-haired Akane is free-spirited and sometimes immature for her age.
  • The Idiot from Osaka: With both the Yumesaki siblings born in the Kansai region, but it is Played Straight for Akane and Inverted for Chie. Akane is the goofiest of the two, being foolhardy and sometimes a complete tease towards her younger sister. Chie, on the other hand, is the Only Sane Woman who is far more responsible and sensible than her older sister.
  • Only Sane Woman: Chie often gets put up with the antics of her sister and even her parents, being the only one who is levelheaded out of the manga's eccentric cast.
  • Slice of Life: Focusing on the daily but quirky lives of two sisters in Kansai region.
  • Schoolgirl Series: The other half of the story's genre, as it generally focuses on two girls in their daily school lives, albeit in differing grades. Akane is a high school student while Chie is a middle school student.
