The completed story can be found here

The story contains the following tropes:

  • Abduction Is Love: It is a grassland's tradition for the brides to kidnap the husband from his family before the ceremony. In modern times, the groom's family is informed before hand and the all get a say in whether or not the marriage can happen.
  • Aborted Arc:
    • The fact that Set still has the amulet that Sekhmet gave him is not mentioned in the story. Though we can assume that Vanessa is still working on releasing it.
    • Myra trying to bring back Anastasia from her statue state isn't mentioned even when she is the POV character.
  • Asian Fox Spirit: They are treated as outcasts in the story and are usually found in the Icy Mountains. They use illusion spells to mask their appearances to fit in. They earn their tails by mastering a different type of kitsune magic and gain a new form for it.
  • Berserk Button: A downplayed example. Erica is made when Tiamat asks her why she hasn't mated with anyone.
  • Innate Night Vision: A kanji ability as a cat-like race.
  • Insistent Terminology: The Rogues are not a cult. Just ask Hex.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Tiamat isn't trying to offend Erica when they were speaking, but manages to by asking her why she was mated yet.
  • Emotionally Tongue-Tied: Lyra mentions that she had a hard time accepting her feeling for Caterina when she was younger.
  • The Empath: What Sofia and Nix will eventually become according to Fin.
  • Furry Reminder: Kanji sweat through their paws like cats.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: The Champions are still learning to access their powers. Delta is particularly bad at it as her magic is draining away into her talisman.
  • Hidden Depths: Caterina expresses an interest in theater while Lyra is interested in science. Destiny has designed traps, in fact this is how she and Nix met.
  • Long-Lived: Kitsunes live for thousands of years.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: Stronghide is a manticore with the body of a lion, wings like a griffin, and a scorpion's tail. Hex, Pixie, and Pixel are bat version of griffins.
  • Out of Focus: Fay is staying the sanctuary while she adapts to her new magic. None of Kieran's other siblings appear in this story though they are mentioned sparingly in his and Seraphine's thoughts.
  • Racist Grandma: Tiamat is revealed as Freya's mother and has ancient ideas about races. She makes a few comments about how studious Kitsunes are and such.
  • Show Within a Show: Aside from the Queen Diana series mentioned in Sekhmet, Kalima mentions the short lived spinoff series that focuses on Princess Lillian and a series of books focus on Queen Diana when she was a princess.
  • Super-Senses: Fay develops super hearing in chapter seven.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted. Kalima mentions going to a therapist named Mimi.
