Heartwarming / Noddy's Toyland Adventures

Go To

In the Sugar Bowl that is Toyland, there's plenty of heartwarming moments to go around, especially throughout the various different adaptations of Noddy:

Original Books

Noddy (1975 series)

  • In "Noddy Goes To Sea", after Noddy goes missing, Big Ears becomes desperate enough to ask the goblins if they have seen him. They are surprisingly concerned, and Gobbo even tries to assure Big Ears that Noddy will be fine. Note this was pre-Villain Decay Gobbo.
    • Consequently, the happy return of Noddy, Tubby and Bumpy Dog, with them getting a welcome home party and the captain giving Noddy and Bumpy Dog his thanks.
  • In "Look Out Noddy", Noddy unknowingly partners with an Honest John's Dealership. Later while left alone with their stall, he meets a distraught toy puppy that has lost its whiskers. After finding some in his associate's bag, he figures out what has happened and lets the puppy have them. It joyously licks Noddy's face in thanks.

Toyland Adventures

  • The song "Noddy The Little Nodding Man" heard in the US VHS release of Toyland Adventures has a female singer singing about how kind, cheerful, and helpful Noddy is with people in Toy Town.
  • The ending of the episode "Noddy Is Far Too Busy" when Noddy receives 12 sixpences after he finishes helping out the citizens of ToyTown. Noddy then tells Tessie that he's going to buy her a beautiful scarf. She gets touched by Noddy's kindness, and bashfully hold each others hand.
  • The ending for the episode "Noddy the Dancer", after Noddy and Tessie win the Dance Contest at ToyTown. The episode ends by showing Noddy and Tessie peacefully dancing with each other in the middle of Toytown at night.
Noddy: I could dance all night long.
  • In "Noddy Tastes Some Cake", Noddy wishes to earn two sixpences just to enter ToyTown's "Cake Tasting Contest", but has trouble finding residents in ToyTown who needs his help for the day. Luckily, Mrs. Skittle allows him to watch over her children for the afternoon with help from Martha Monkey and Big Ears. By the time he finally earns two sixpences from Mr. Sparks, he's so exhausted that he misses the "Cake Tasting Contest" and falls asleep in his car. Eventually, both Dinah and Tessie Bear quietly witness Noddy sleeping in his car with Tessie (who won the "Cake Eating Contest") deciding to give the cake that Mrs. Tubby Bear baked for the contest to Noddy. The episode ends with Noddy waking up to discover a piece of cake that he's been looking forward to having.
Dinah: There's Noddy, he's fast asleep. So that's why he wasn't at the "Cake Tasting Contest".
Tessie Bear: He'd really love Mrs. Tubby's "Best Cake in Contest".
Dinah: Oh that is kind Tessie. After all you won it!
Tessie Bear: Aww, I'd have shared it with Noddy anyway.
    Dinah: He looks so peaceful.
  • The Christmas Special for Toyland Adventures "Noddy Meets Father Christmas", has Noddy feeling nervous and shy for meeting Father Christmas for the first time. However, when Father Christmas visits Big Ear's toadstool house along with Tessie, and Dinah Doll. Noddy gets more anxious until he finally sees him and decides to give him a gift by singing him a song and later waving white hankies.
"Hello Father Christmas, I'm very pleased to meet you"
"Everything's been going wrong today, and I've never thought I'd see you"
"But here you are the King of Toyland, with your splendid coat and beard"
"Now I wave my clean white hankies, to show you that I'm pleased you're here"
    • Even sweeter is when Big Ears, Dinah, and Tessie suddenly join in on Noddy's song to Father Christmas after telling him about being blamed by Mr. Plod for the tricks Sly and Gobbo played on him.
    • The build up. Noddy has been desperately trying to meet Father Christmas throughout the episode, only to keep falling into one of the Goblins' traps for Santa. Tessie and Dinah, having a kind opinion of Noddy, misinterpret this as "Noddy pulling multiple Heroic Sacrifices to save Father Christmas" and make sure to tell the latter how loyal Noddy is to him. A touched Father Christmas goes out to befriend Noddy.
Father Christmas: So...it seems I've had a good friend I've never even met.
    • Then there's the ending where the entire citizens of Toy Town are singing about the joy of Christmas and each of them wish the viewer a Happy Christmas/Merry Christmas before the credits roll.
"Don't let Christmas end this Winter"
"We should all be friends the whole year through"
"See the smiles of all our faces"
"Let Christmas works it's magic, on you too."
    • The ending is also a big Pet the Dog moment for all the resident Jerkasses. Miss Pink Cat is invited to the party after having a Jerkass Realization and feeling lonely, Tubby Bear defends Santa from the Goblins' prank. To top it all off, Santa even invites the Goblins to the party after they are stopped, making sure everyone gets a happy ending.

The 1994 stage show

  • Act II begins with Noddy driving Tessie Bear to Big Ears' toadstool house to celebrate Whiskers' birthday. While the party briefly gets interrupted by Sly attempting to steal Noddy's car. They resume Whiskers' birthday party by preparing to sing "Happy Birthday" to him. However, Noddy isn't familiar with the song so Big Ears and Tessie Bear invite the audience to sing Happy Birthday out loud to teach Noddy alongside honoring Big Ears' pet cat's birthday.
  • Noddy and Tessie giving each other a hug after arguing about ruining Whiskers' birthday cake and birthday party.
  • While also a Tear Jerker, Noddy choosing to give his car to The Wily Witch in order to get Whiskers back.
    • After loosing his car, Noddy decides to secretly return to Big Ears' home by dropping Whiskers outside Big Ears' front door. He is seen watching both of them happily reuniting and seen smiling at Big Ears. The moment then becomes sad once Big Ears returns inside his house, with Noddy sadly walking back to his house.

Make Way For Noddy

  • The episode "The Great Goblin Chase" has Noddy and Tessie Bear being framed for the variety of reasons (caused by Sly and Gobbo's disguise spell as the duo). Mr. Plod tests their goodness to tell which is the real Noddy and Tessie Bear, handing both Noddy a Googleberry Muffin to see what they do. While the goblins fight over their's, Noddy shares his Googleberry Muffin with Tessie Bear resulting in this exchange.
Noddy: I always share with my friends, here Tessie Bear.
Tessie Bear: Why thank you Noddy. (kisses Noddy's cheek)
    The Citizens: Awww.
  • In "Noddy's Family Tree", Noddy realises he doesn't have a family like the other toys, and, as a result of a prank by Sly and Gobbo, gets lost in the dark woods trying to find them. Upon finding out what happened, Mr Plod and Tessie rally everyone in Toytown to help find Noddy, despite them all being terrified of the dark woods. Upon finding Noddy, Big Ears points out to him that he does have a family, and points to the huge amount of people who all care about him. Yes, it's been done before, but touching all the same.
  • While "Noddy Saves Christmas" isn't quite as charming as the original Christmas story, it has some cute moments. In particular, Noddy bothers to send gifts to Sly and Gobbo in spite of them always being on the Naughty list. In turn they give Noddy a new bell as a present after he gave his old one to help Santa (they prefer being able to hear Noddy come anyway).
    • A blink-and-miss-it one, you can see Mr Plod and the goblins exchanging gifts in the final panning shot.

Noddy In Toyland

While the 2009 series has gained mostly negative and mixed reception (except France). The series does have some very sweet moments.
  • The episode "Karaoke Picnic Day" has a notably cute moment as Noddy and Tessie are preparing a Karaoke Picnic. In the beginning of the episode, we see the two singing together near her Sing-A-Long Machine with Tessie showing him the settings. Such as the machine making your voice sound low and high which she continues doing while she and Noddy start laughing at the amusing results.
  • "Mr Plod Loses His Laugh" shows Noddy and Tessie playing with Chattering Teeth Toys. At one point, they both end up moving like the Chattering Teeth Toys by bouncing in a similar manner as them. It's very cute to see both characters having fun together before Mr Plod decides to join in.
