Funny / Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Go To

  • Just the fact that the film's Signature Song is "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf. It's a good thing Aquaman can't hear the film's soundtrack, because he'd likely have some opinions on being reminded of a certain axe-swinging alien invader.
  • During the opening montage of Arthur learning how to be a new parent, he changes Arthur Jr.’s diaper and gets sprayed in the face with urine. Later in the montage, Arthur is changing another diaper and successfully dodges the urine stream. Cue Mera on the other side of the room using her hydrokinesis to redirect the stream into Arthur’s face anyway.
  • One scene with Arthur on the throne has him doze off, and his crown floats away from him.
  • Early in the film, Arthur and his dad have a heartwarming talk about the joys and challenges of fatherhood, all while big, burly Arthur's wearing a fluffy white bathrobe that was clearly pilfered from a wellness hotel.
  • When Black Manta learns Mera is now Arthur's wife, he pauses to scold Arthur for stealing Orm's woman.
  • Arthur has an Imagine Spot of a bare-chested Orm in chains, which he had done to Arthur in the first film.
  • When escaping Orm's prison guardians on the beach, Topo climbs on Arthur for no reason while he's running in the water, hindering him and making him trip. And before that, Topo is the first to speed towards the sea in a Screw This, I'm Outta Here manner, leaving Arthur and Orm behind to wonder what's happening (the guardians' cavalry is coming). The whole scene has some energy that's straight out of Jack Sparrow being Chased by Angry Natives in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Also, Topo makes bizarre gargling sounds throughout.
  • When being chased by the Big Creepy-Crawlies on the Pacific island where Black Manta burns orichalcum, Orm runs awkwardly with his arms extended in a V behind his back, not knowing how to run like a surface dweller. Arthur has to tell him how to run more efficiently.
  • French dub viewers will have a laugh when they hear Arthur call Orm "Loki". The dubbing actor of Orm, Alexis Victor, also dubs Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • Arthur brags that he beat Orm in the challenge for the throne with ease. Orm calls him out on this because Mera had to save him the first time. Arthur claims to have no idea what he is talking about.
  • The dramatic moment of Kordax transferring his control from Manta to Orm is undermined by a de-powered Manta taking a swing at Aquaman and getting knocked out. The music even stops briefly, to highlight the moment.
  • When told to keep his eyes open for any enemies, the Brine King responds by saying that won't be a problem for him, as he has no eyelids.
  • The Brine King states that he’ll never trust Orm because Orm cut off his claw. Everyone sees he’s not missing a claw, so he elaborates that it took a whole year for the claw to grow back.
    • As a Brick Joke, when the heroes reconvene after the final battle, he comments that everyone's in one piece, but he's not, since he lost his claw again.
  • Arthur tells Orm that his prejudices against the surface world are keeping him from experiencing many of the good things it has to offer, particularly delicious foods like steak, cheeseburgers, and beer that Arthur himself grew up with as a half-Atlantean inhabitant of both worlds. He then tricks Orm into eating a live cockroach...and Orm likes it!
    • Following up to that, The Stinger, the very final scene of the entire DCEU is... Orm eating a cheeseburger (which he payed with an Atlantean coin earlier) and... putting a cockroach in it. Which he appears to find as an improvement.
