Trailers

  • Jaime is introduced standing in front of a beach resort gazing intensely at the ocean. A woman's voice calls out to him, so he turns around and removes his sunglasses in the most suave manner possible. Turns out it's his sister and she's telling him to get back to work scraping gum off the lounges.
  • Jaime's family encourages him as he's going to work by loudly chanting his name, much to his embarrassment. A curious passerby gives them a look and Jaime sheepishly tells him that "They don't get out much."
  • When Jaime compares Ted Kord's base and gadgets to Batman, Rudy immediately shouts "Batman is a fascist!".
  • The second trailer shows that Jaime’s Nana gets her hands on a massive gun, which she ends up firing against some villains.
    Jaime: Nana?
Khaji-Da: I advise we back away.
  • One of the taglines of the second trailer is "He's a superhero... Whether he likes it or not".
  • This exchange that's almost word for word also in the movie when Jaime shows everyone the Scarab on his back:
Milagro: Oh my God, I forgot how bad it looks.
    Milagro: …Where?

Film

  • When Jaime ask a stranger how he looks with a graduation cap on, he gets the response, "like you're six figures in debt."
  • When the Scarab first fuses with Jaime's body, Rudy is quick to assume the Scarab entered through his ass.
    • And considering where the Scarab was heading right before Jaime feels it inside him, Rudy is most likely right.
  • When Rudy is about to explain the Scarab to Jaime, he tells Jaime to "take a seat," only for there to be no seats. "Or don't."
  • The Running Gag of Jaime's family comparing him to Thalia in María la del barrio due to his budding romance with the wealthy Jenny, only he's the sugar baby and she's the rich Meal Ticket.
  • Milagro sticks a piece of gum under a bench right after Jaime cleaned the gum off. She points out that this keeps them employed.
  • The Reyes family follows Jaime to Kord Industries. Rudy talks about getting a Molotov cocktail and burning the place down.
  • Every time Jaime activates the Scarab, his clothes are shown being disintegrated as his armor comes on. The obvious occurs when it deactivates, including in front of his parents, uncle, sister, Nana, and Jenny.
    • After the first time the Scarab activates and runs through a series of tests, including shooting Jaime into space and rocketing around the city at high speeds, Jaime, still dazed, claims his name is Jamie not Jaime, calling back to the woman at Kord Industries front desk who accidentally called him Jamie.
  • While at the old Kord home, Jenny tells Jaime about how her mom died when she was six. The two have an emotional conversation about their families and then Almost Kiss. When Rudy barges in, they jump apart and while both mumbling excuses, Jaime blurts out, "Her mom died!"
  • The Reyes family arming themselves to help Jaime is pretty awesome, but there are bits about the gear up that are mildly amusing.
  • After going through the whole movie being called "Sanchez", Dr. de la Cruz snaps and says his name isn't "Sanchez", it's José Francisco Morales Rivera de la Cruz.
  • When Jaime, having reunited with his family, rushes back to save Milagro and Jenny, his mother stops him and Khaji-Da to order them both to "Partirles la madre" (kick the bad guys' asses). A few minutes later, as they're about to fight a battalion of KORD goons, Jaime asks Khaji-Da what they should do:
Khaji-Da: Vamos a partirles la madre.
  • At the end, when Jaime and Jenny are about to kiss, the scarab interrupts Jaime telling him it can "feel a surge of blood flow rushing toward [his] midsection." Jamie quickly tells it to shut up.
