Vampiolence is a My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Dark Fic by ObabScribbler.

Vinyl Scratch’s family has come back to her life, and for her and Octavia, that is not a good thing. With her father Voron and younger sister Vellum having broken into her house, Vinyl will have to confront her dark past.

Scribbler released the story both in the form of a written fic and an audio drama side-by-side.

Compare and contrast Adapting to Night and My Roommate Is A Vampire, who share the "Vinyl is a vampire" concept but play them in different ways.

Vampiolence provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: To say Voron is not a good father is an understatement, as he has his oldest daughter to do the dirty work and belittles her when she tries to protest.

  • Asshole Victim: Vellum and Voron, a Daddy's Little Villain and Abusive Parent, are rightfully beheaded and staked respectively by Vinyl by the end of the story.

  • Brought Down to Normal: Vinyl willingly cast a curse on herself to become mortal before the events of the story. She’s forced to turn back into a full-fledged vampire near the end, and the spellbook used is destroyed in a house fire, preventing her from ever going back.

  • Daddy's Little Villain: In sharp contrast to Vinyl, Vellum has inherited their father’s sadism.

  • Deceptively Silly Title: While the Portmantitle is fitting for the themes, it sounds like a balls-off-the-walls action story with that alone. The action is saved primarily for the climax, while the story as a whole is more of a romantic tragedy.

  • Downer Ending: Sure, Voron and Vellum were both killed... but so was Octavia, rendering everything Vinyl went through to save her pointless. A devastated Vinyl embarks on a quest to rid Equestria of the rest of Voron's (unknowing) offspring. She's remorseful in doing this, but sees it as Necessarily Evil, intent on ending it with herself with the hopes she and Octavia can be Together in Death.

  • Heroic Sacrifice: Octavia lets herself get killed by Vellum as a means to feed Vinyl her blood and give her the strength she needs to defeat her family.

  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad: In both the traditional and literal sense. Voron is Vinyl’s biological father, but he also had to feed on her to activate her vampire powers.

  • I Have Many Names: She was born as "Winter Song" by her mother, Spring Blossom. When Voron took her in, he changed her name to "Vanelda", a word meaning "strong" where he came from. When she went to Trottingham University, she gave herself the nickname "Vee". And at some point after cursing herself, she started going by "Vinyl Scratch".

  • Last Episode, New Character: The epilogue co-stars Tiptoe: A Filly Scout known for being very quiet and, for being a descendant of Voron, Vinyl's latest victim.

  • Off with His Head!: Vinyl tears Vellum's head off with just her mouth in the final battle.

  • Our Vampires Are Different:
    • Those born from a vampire parent do not have their powers from birth, they have to be turned by the parent.
    • They're born with a white mane and coat along with pinkish red eyes. At some point, Vinyl dyed her mane.
    • The head vampire has a blood bond with their children, allowing them to sense each others' presence.
    • The head vampire can sense the unturned, but not vice versa.
    • The blood bond can only be broken by death, but it can be suppressed with magic.
    • Drinking blood from a drunkard doesn't make them drunk. At worst, their blood will taste more tangy.
    • If the head vampire dies, their oldest child becomes the new head vampire, and the central blood bond passes to them; allowing them to sense their siblings, nieces, and nephews.

  • Portmantitle: "Vampire" + "Violence", fitting with it being a gory vampire story.

  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: Octavia may have had good intentions in sacrificing herself and giving Vinyl the strength she needed to defeat Voron and Vellum once and for all, but it doesn't change the fact it renders Vinyl's efforts to save her moot.

  • Visionary Villain: Voron, in a few ways. First, he wanted to prove that, by mating with ponies, his bloodline could exist in Equestria despite the risks that Celestia posed. Second, he intends to overthrow Celestia and the other alicorns so that the vampires can return to Equestria, ushering in an age of the vampires under the House of Verchovski.

  • Would Hurt a Child:
    • Voron is not above feeding on younger ponies… even feeding on the blood his own daughters have already fed on.
    • Downplayed in Vinyl’s case regarding the epilogue. She still feels a bit of pain in murdering Voron’s younger descendants, but in the end feels she has to in order to diminish Voron’s lineage for good.
