The World According to Peter Parker and Karen Starr
is a Power Girl/Spider-Man crossover fic by Starkiller93.
A high school teacher who moonlights as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. A superhuman alien from another world. Two souls who no one would ever expect to cross paths, but when they do, they will create adventure, intrigue, and maybe a touch of passion.
The World According to Peter Parker and Karen Starr contains the following examples:
- Attempted Rape: As in the original storyline, Felicia is nearly raped by Garrison Klum before his brother stops him.
- Crossover Couple: Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Karen Starr/Power Girl.
- Deadpan Snarker: Peter as Spider-Man is happy to mock and deride the crooks he’s apprehending. Karen is equally willing to mock the thieves as well.
- Joke and Receive: When Helena Bertinelli appears as a new teacher at Midtown High, Peter Parker jokingly asks if she got kicked out of Gotham because Oracle found out Helena and Nightwing had a fling, and Helena immediately asks who told him about that (although the relationship had nothing to do with Helena's departure; she just disagreed with Oracle about something in the field).
- Loves My Alter Ego: In a weird inversion, Peter Parker and Karen Starr date in their normal lives but pretend not to know one another while "on the job."
- Male Gaze: Good guy, he may be, Spider-Man can’t help but take in Power Girl's breathtaking good looks.
- More than Just a Teacher: Peter works as a high school teacher while moonlighting as a superhero.
- Small Name, Big Ego: Garrison Klum rants about how he has plans to go after Power Girl in a similar manner to his current assault on Black Cat, ignoring such issues as whether human drugs could have any effect on a Kryptonian physiology.
- Trademark Favorite Food: When Peter Parker complains about how all they eat is pizza or Chinese, Karen Starr lampshades how as New Yorkers, those two things are what they live off of.
