Will McDaniel is an internet creator. His channel originally started in 2008, though at the time he would only upload once every year or two until 2014, when he started to produce far more content, mostly being comedic sketches. He eventually found a niche for himself making videos involving bizarre monsters, practical effects, and not-insignificant amounts of Body Horror, generally walking the line between Surreal Horror and Surreal Humor.
He also makes tutorial videos showing people how to make the sorts of practical effects he uses in his more recent videos.
He can be found on Youtube and Twitter.
Will McDaniel's works often include:
- Animalistic Abomination: The "bird" from Don't Feed Them is vaguely bird-like, but seems to hover without moving its wings, teleport, and live inside of a birdhouse that is much too small for it. The birdhouse is also fleshy on the inside and any damage done to it will affect the bird.
- Babies Ever After: The Burrow ends with Will falling in love with the creature from the titular burrow, and telling their child how they met.
- Bait-and-Switch: One of the ingredients used in How to Cook Christmas Dinner for an Alien is a potato....with a breather hole.
- Bloody Horror: A lot of his monsters look very meaty, but the workers at the Dubious Meat Industry in The Interview fit this trope best.
- Body Horror: He's a big fan of this one too. Top 5 Weird Alien Diseases is a pretty good example of it.
- Botanical Abomination: The Plant Pal.
- Creepy Good: While many of his videos have strange creatures with plenty of Body Horror or Nausea Fuel elements, they aren't always malevolent. My Sleep Paralysis Demon and Me has Will making friends with his Sleep Paralysis Demon, for example.
- Eldritch Abomination: Too many to count, but some include the Lord of Stock Exchange, the Break-up & Lock-down Buddies, Ian Octagon, and Mr. Spatula Lipstick Face look like nothing found naturally on Earth.
- Fun with Subtitles: Many of his more recent videos have some amusing commentary, jokes, or UnsoundEffects in the subtitles.
- Lethal Chef: How to Bake a Cake for a Racist is an Invoked example of this trope. Since the cake is supposed to be going to a racist, Will instructs the viewer to toss in laxative, gravel, broken glass, and a page from The Daily Mail.
- Mystery Meat: Anything sold by the aptly-named "Dubious Meat Company."Mr. Crutch: Hello and welcome to the Dubious Meat Company, where our meat is always... something.
- Rattling Off Legal: Customer Service has an employee for the Dubious Meat Company quickly give a legal disclaimer when asked about their company's "Chicky Lumps."Mr Crutch: The Dubious Meat Company in no ways guarantees the quality, quantity, or species of the meat that we produce and sell. Any illnesses or injuries arising from the consumption of a Dubious Meat Company product are inconclusive and can never be proven in a court of law. Any likeness to a religious figure or your family members are purely coincidental and no parts of deities or loved ones are contained within this product.
- Repulsive Ringmaster: The Ringmaster of Space Circus is a very sinister one. While we don't see much of him, he's implied to have made his attractions by pulling people into the strange hole in his chest and somehow twisting them into something else.
- Santabomination: The Christmas Grotto has a bizzare... thing that looks like it's made of raw meat pose as Santa to lure Will inside a dirty-looking trailer. It turns out to be the lure for some kind of subterranean creature that swallows up the trailer with Will inside.
- Surreal Horror: Very few of his more recent sketches make any sense at all, and they pretty much all have at least some Body Horror.
- Surreal Humor: While many of his videos have a lot of rather gross or creepy things, almost all of them lean more towards the comedic end.
- Take That!: How to Bake a Cake for a Racist includes ones to politician Nigel Farage, The Passion of the Christ, and The Daily Mail.
- Weird World, Weird Food: Will seems to be fond of this one, having so far made Trying Candy from Other Dimensions, How to Cook Christmas Dinner for an Alien, and Trying Alien Fruit. Pretty much all of them have very strange preparation methods or Body Horror effects on the human who eats them.
