When the multiverse needs saving from having every consciousness absorbed by the Awareness, the cosmic Contemplator Tath Ki doesn't recruit the best minds for the job; he recruits Deadpool to form a team of other Deadpools, hoping their unstable minds will make them immune. Traveling in their spaceship, the Bea Arthur, they travel the galaxy on their quest.
The series is followed by a sequel, Deadpool Kills Deadpool, which is also a sequel to Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe.
Deadpool Corps provides examples of:
- Actually Pretty Funny: Lady Deadpool calls Deadpool out for temporarily having the so-called Champion of the Universe join the team, but she admits putting the ridiculous, blue-skinned, overly-muscled alien in a Deadpool costume was rather funny.
- Alliance of Alternates: The Deadpool Corps is an entire team of Deadpools from alternate universes with differing ages, genders, species, and states of living, making each an Alternate Self of the others.
- Ascended Extra: Originally Headpool was just an extra in Marvel Zombies, then he returned as a major character (minus his body) for the limited series Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth, returning again for further series.
- The Chosen Many: The multiverse needs saving from the Awareness, and only the Deadpools with their unstable minds and healing factors can stop him. They were all operating as super-beings of varying levels before recruitment to the Deadpool Corps.
- Screw Yourself: Lady Deadpool and non-lady Deadpool just have to see what making out with each other is like. It's weird, even for them. Then to address supposed sexual tension with Headpool in a therapy session, she and Headpool share a sloppy open-mouthed kiss. The therapist and Lady Deadpool herself are immediately squicked and vomit.
