Soulum Sword of Vengeance
Soulum Sword of Retribution
DesireWorker of Vengeance

Voiced by: Lee Bo-hee (Korean), Ai Kayano (Japanese)
Age: 17

A young girl who aspired to become a doctor in the hopes of supporting her single mother. On the day she was accepted to a medical school, she hoped to celebrate the good news with her mother, only to find her home destroyed by the Great Void, which killed her mother in the process. Overwhelmed with grief at the sight of her mother's corpse, she was swallowed up by the Great Void.

Haru's powers come from the emotion of vengeance, specifically her desire to enact revenge on the Great Void for her mother's death on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

  • BFS: Her Soul Weapon, "SoulSoulum," is a sword that's almost as long as she is tall.
  • The Leader: At Erwin's suggestion, she reluctantly takes the role of the group's leader.

    Erwin Arclight

Gun Jazz of Pleasure
Gun Jazz of Promise
DesireWorker of Pleasure

Voiced by: Park Seong-tae (Korean), Hiro Shimono (Japanese)
Age: 18

A natural born genius and the winner of a newcomer's video game reward, his victory soon filled him a sense of emptiness. When the Great Void came about, he willingly approached it in hopes of relieving him of his boredom.

Erwin's powers come from the emotion of pleasure, as he is always looking for fun ways to stave off his boredom.

  • The Gunslinger: His Soul Weapon, "Gun Jazz," is a pair of guns her wields in both hands.
  • Headbutting Heroes: With Lily in the anime, as Erwin is none too pleased with her mocking his hacking program.

    Lily Bloommerchen

Mist Scythe of Madness
Mist Scythe of Resolve
DesireWorker of Madness

Voiced by: Kim Hyeon-ji (Korean), Ibuki Kido (Japanese)
Age: 15

A member of the Bloomerchen family living with her brother, her happy life would soon end when her brother was murdered. After beating the killers in a fit of rage, she soon broke down from her sorrow as the Great Void swallowed her up.

Lily's powers come from the emotion of madness, or rather her extreme desire to die, despite her powers preventing her from doing so. Unable to accomplish her own death, she seeks out strong opponents with the hope that they will be able to kill her.

  • Ax-Crazy: Does not begin to describe it.
    • Somewhat of an unusual example, she keeps calm in non-hostile areas (even if she's in a hurry to get back into battle), rescues survivors (even if she gripes about them distracting her from enjoying fighting), and protects her allies...normally she'd just be an odd Blood Knight, but her in-mission dialogue makes it clear she's this trope.
  • Blood Knight: A completely unapologetic one at that, with more than a few NPCs a bit unnerved by her.
Wilba: The thing is you weren't forced to fight. You aren't doing it to earn money or save people. It seems to be enough for you to slaughter your opponents, see their pained faces, and to be intoxicated by their screams.
Lily: Yes, exactly. I do this work because it's fun. Is that a problem?
  • Big Brother Worship: She absolutely adored her older brother, which made his death that much harder for her to take.
  • Headbutting Heroes: The anime shows her not getting along with Erwin, with her openly mocking his hacking program's "complete lack of design sense."
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Her unashamed bloodlust combined with just how blunt and mocking she can be results in quite a few amusing exchanges with various questgivers.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: There's no denying she's a bit messed up and in her own words isn't fighting for anyone but herself, but Lily still saves people and focuses her killing urges on the bad guys. Furthermore she's clearly upset the first time she actually sees another human die before her eyes in the story, averting Sociopathic Hero.
  • Ojou: She comes from a rich family and enjoyed a luxurious life before the start of the game.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports this at times, a few characters remarking on it.

    Stella Unibell

Howling Guitar of Sorrow
Howling Guitar of Hope
DesireWorker of Sorrow

Age: 14

A small girl with the ability to speak with ghosts, her ability lead to her being isolated by others. By the time the Great Void appeared, she decided to wander inside in hopes of finding someone she could call a friend.

Stella's powers come from the emotion of sorrow due to the intense isolation and bullying she experienced at the hands of others.

  • Abusive Parents: Her parents were among the people who ostracized her.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Before the story began, she was treated as "creepy" by the people around her for seemingly talking to herself. And when the Great Void appeared, those people started blaming her for it.
  • Musical Assassin: Her weapon is the "Howling Guitar."
  • Token Mini-Moe: At the age of 14 and a height of 148 cm, Stella is both the youngest and shortest of the playable characters.

    Iris Yuma

Hammerstol of Fury
Voiced by: Park Shin-hee (Korean), Ai Kakuma (Japanese)
Age: 18

The youngest daughter of the Yuma family, her strict upbringing to become its successor gave rise to a rebellious streak. After running away from home one day, the Great Void appeared and destroyed her house and killed her family, eventually sucking her in as well.

Iris's powers come from the emotion of fury.

    Jin Seipatsu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jin_6.jpg
Voiced by: Kim Hye-sung (Korean), Tomoaki Maeno (Japanese)
Age: 17

A young man from a poor family, he took on multiple different jobs in an attempt to support them. On the day the Great Void appeared, he attempted to save nearby refugees from being absorbed, only to get swallowed in himself.

Jin's powers come from the emotion of passion, specifically his his fervent need to help and/or save others, even at his own detriment.

The two cherished each other's company until Cecilia was attacked and fatally wounded by enemy SoulJunks]. In her desire to save Cecilia, Chii devoured her corpse and took on her form, choosing to live on under the name Chii Aruel in her memory.

Unlike the other SoulWorkers, Chii exists in a universe separate from their timelines.

  • Stripperiffic: Her default outfit shows a bit too much skin to be very practical.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soul_worker_ephnel.jpg
Voiced by: Kim Hyeon-sim (Korean), Ayane Sakura (Japanese)
Age: 17

Real name Marie, she was sold by her parents as a test subject for NED Company's Blood SoulWorker experiments after the Great Void forced her family into poverty. After being cruelly tortured and experimented on, she was discarded as a failed experiment, and was labelled as Failure Number EL (Fn. EL). Due to mysterious circumstances, she was able to reawaken as a SoulWorker, and chose to reject her past (as well as her birth name) by living on as Ephnel, a name based on the original Failure Number she was labelled under.

Ephnel's powers come from the emotion of indomitability.

    Lee Nabi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/soul_worker_nabi.jpg
Voiced by: Lee Da-eun (Korean), Reina Ueda (Japanese)
Age: 19

After her parents were killed by the Great Void, Nabi was taken in by Jang Aesop (a lord of the Starry Forest League) and was trained to be a Second Generation Soulworker under her brainwashing. As a soldier and SoulWorker, she insists on taking orders from her superiors to a disturbing degree, to the point where she doesn't seem to have her own will or sense of self.

Nabi's powers come from the emotion of loyalty, or rather, her intense obedience towards the Starry Forest League.

  • Ms. Fanservice: She has the largest bust of all the playable girls, and her default outfit shows lots of cleavage.
