The main tanuki character.Azukimaru
A tanuki dressed in mostly dark clothes, and revels in chaos and despair.- Butt-Monkey: Because his scheme to drag down other people always backfires.
- The Corrupter: Sees himself as one.
- Dark Is Evil: Wears dark clothes, his tanuki form has black fur, and seeks to cause chaos.
- Evil Is Petty: Would snatch a coin from a little kid trying to buy a drink from a vending machine.
- Laughably Evil: Because all of his attempts always backfire.
- Springtime for Hitler: Fate itself seems determined to ensure all his attempts will turn out good for his victims.
- Token Evil Teammate: He seeks to sow chaos and despair for humans. Unfortunately for him, it always backfires in a good way.
Tanukichi
The husband of Riku, under the name Shoukichi.- Rescue Romance: He fell in love with Riku, a human, after he was mauled by a wild dog and she took him to the hospital and helped him heal up afterward.
- Scars Are Forever: Even with his shapeshifting powers, he can't make the scars from his being attacked go away.
Elder
- Antiquated Linguistics: Chapter 18 shows he often uses archaic words such as 'bedear' and 'forled'.
- Playing a Tree: Asked to be one for a private play by Koganemaru. A sakura tree that blooms by a swing of the main character's fan, it's a lot more gorgeous than usual for this trope.
