    Sieglinde von Brandt

Sieglinde von Brandt in her natural habitat. That is; Dreamland.
Sieglinde von Brandt (affectionately nicknamed Sigi by her friends and family) is a daydreaming but nevertheless kindhearted half-Alvar; born to the skilled Vandian warrior Sieghild von Brandt and her equally skilled (but notably less graceful in combat) human husband Orville. Her years spent isolated from other children out of her own shyness and abstract manner of thinking have caused her to become stumped in her maturity, but Sieglinde is nonetheless intelligent and wise in her own right—a natural wordsmith in her free time and a deep thinker bolstered by some limited combat training from the hands of her mother. Feeling spoilt in her upbringing and depressed from her lack of experience in wordly affairs, Sieglinde decided to join Ainsworth's Academy in an effort to make a practical and proactive change in her life.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Sieglinde infamously can't hold her attention on any one thing for long, though it's notable that she does seem to focus very intently on the matters she truly cares about. Rather, she seems to be prioritizing data—her reaction towards the attack in the forest proves her to be anxious under pressure, and too much information or unexpected events can likely send her into a panicked state. Instead, she seems to be more invested in her own random trains of thought—as she seems to truly be in her comfort zone while she's off with the fairies.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Sieglinde makes no effort to hide her anger when she feels like a line has been crossed, and to those who take her perky mannerisms for granted it can be quite the stark contrast between her usual loving nature and her seething rage when put under pressure. When she felt as if combat instructor Maya unfairly hurt one of her classmates, she snapped a wooden practice knife in half out of frustration—in a less violent example, she snapped in regards to Freana and Verona's bickering after she began to feel as if they were pulling her into their conflicts.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Appears to be developing a small crush towards Verona, but hasn't vocalized anything resembling a confession due to how little time the class has known each other for—though this hasn't stopped Sieglinde from sneaking in a few daring moves of her own (or at least, daring for her.)
  • Color Motif: PINK. To the point where she carries around a pink pen just so she can write in her favourite colour, and even her magic manifests as a bright pink energy.
  • Cuddle Bug: Sieglinde is an immensely affectionate girl, and has spontaneously hugged a significant number of her classmates for seemingly no other reason than her simply wanting to—even kissing said classmates on occasion in a platonic manner.note
  • Ditzy Genius: Despite seeming to be just The Ditz on initial inspection, Sieglinde is actually quite intelligent and concentrates most of said smarts into her creativity and common sense—even if the latter is usually attacked at from rather bizarre angles. Though tending to trust her emotions and gut feelings more than anything, she knows when to get serious and utilizes quick thinking and improvisation for when things go awry, and she is shown to have some knowledge of surviving in nature and using a longbow properly.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: With her mother Sieghild being Alvar and her father Orville being human, Sieglinde retains a mix of traits from both races and is a mite shorter than the former as a result. There is no explaining the pink, though.
  • Nice Girl: Sigi is at her core a genuinely sweet, well-meaning, and overall peaceful individual who puts in all of her effort to mediate between others; even negotiating on the behalf of other parties just so that they can settle their differences. This provides quite a contrast to her lethality, as she is quick to the draw and unhesitant when it comes to killing in self-defense—even attempting to snipe a squirrel during the forest exhibition after it tried to steal Elliot's map.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: Walks around barefoot as standard no matter her environment; her hands-free upbringing and love for letting herself drink in her environment means she has eschewed footwear entirely unless it's absolutely necessary or mandatory (though she'd probably fight against it in the latter case). She even walked the entire distance from her home in Früchtenheim to Ainsworth's Academy with nothing protecting her feet.

    Shard Alegyris
Played by: LilyTheLitten

Pictured: Shard. Not pictured: explosions.

Shard was born as Eugene Forebow to Saorant nobility, which wouldn't be a problem if he wasn't an affair baby. He spent his childhood locked away in a tower, raised by Simeon Forebow's least favorite servants, before growing old enough to repeatedly sneak out. One day, he stole a book on magic from his not father's library and tried to cast one of the spells, which went catastrophically wrong and caused an explosion, taking out Eugene's eye. Arrested and sentenced to execution for attempted assassination, Eugene fled Saorant and took on the name Shard Alegyris, heading to Terraforma to attend the academy on little more than a whim.

  • Abusive Parents: He's not really the father, but Simeon Forebow certainly fits the bill, having locked Shard in a tower since infancy.
  • Chocolate Baby: A variation. Shard looked nothing like his mother's husband when he was born, causing her to break down and admit her infidelity.
  • Cosmic Motifs: Space itself is Shard's motif—his magic manifests as stars, the night sky, and the Rift (which is space), and Rift magic is what he's best at.
  • Eye Scream: He lost his eye when a spell exploded in his face.
  • Girl in the Tower: Shard spent his childhood in a tower, raised by his not-father's least favorite servants.
  • Heroic Bastard: Born out of wedlock, and is as nice as they come.
  • Keet: Unfailingly energetic and chipper.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite having been dealt a frankly awful hand in life, Shard remains bubbly and cheerful.
  • The Runaway: After being arrested and sentenced to execution for something he didn't donote , Shard escaped prison and fled the city, eventually heading to the academy. He starts the roleplay as a fugitive, and despite his cheerful demeanor, is genuinely scared that he'll be found out and dragged back to Saorant.
  • Squishy Wizard: Shard shows natural aptitude for magic, especially Rift magic, and was able to cause an explosion (albeit on accident) the first time he tried it. But all it took was a single punch from Maya to knock him out cold.

    Elliot Etirina
Played by: TheRealWren

The first and only child of the Etirina bloodline which one of the higher families of nobles in Astary, Elliot's youth was constantly him coddled and spoiled, eventually to a point where it was almost suffocating. With his only friend sarcastically remarking that he'd consider agreeing to such an idea if Elliot were to graduate from Ainsworth Academy...something that the young noble took seriously. After all, every adventurer's journey has to start somewhere, the years at Ainsworth wouldn't be a bad place for a prologue.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Shard calls him Ellie in magic class, and El during their first mission.
  • Alliterative Name: Elliot Etirina.
  • Ambiguously Gay: Shard's crush on him is very blatant, and while nothing is confirmed yet, he does show signs of reciprocating (or at least being open to the idea).
  • Bookworm: Part of the reason he's even AT the Academy is to learn how to be an adventurer like the many, many stories and novels he managed to get his hands on, with most of his knowledge of the world and skills coming from books as well.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Kinda, yeah.
  • Magically Inept Fighter / Un-Sorcerer: Compared to everyone else in his class, he's the only one who's currently incapable of using magic or even being able to sense it, for that matter. Whether that changes remains to be seen.
  • The Idealist: While not exactly as energetic and overly optimistic as some, Elliot's certainly thinks the best of most people, that everyone has their strengths, talents and believes with enough effort people can achieve anything.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Squirrels?: Had a bit of a suppressed panic-attack the moment he noticed WHAT had stolen his map rather than the fact it had been taken away.
