Stephanie "Sherry" Pulaski
The novel's Villain Protagonist, who saw the premonition of the sinking yacht. The ensuing accident ruined her face so she makes a deal with Death to get it repaired by killing her friends.
- Facial Horror: A piece of debris from the sinking yacht comes flying over and maims Sherry's face beyond recognition.
- Redemption Equals Death: Sherry decides to spare Cabernet's life after realizing she's not a Jerkass after all. Cue incoming bus driven by Death himself one year later.
- Villain Protagonist: The main protagonist of the novel who goes about killing other folks to uphold her end of her bargain with Death.
Abigail "Cabernet" Foster
A pregnant model whom Sherry befriended and Gunter's girlfriend.
- Birth-Death Juxtaposition: Double Subversion. Her boyfriend Gunter dies just minutes before she starts to have the baby. Just when Death is about claim both of them, Sherry grows a heart and leaves her room, sparing her and allowing her to have the baby.
- Final Girl: She's the only one who manages to get out of Sherry's rampage alive, because Sherry did not have the heart to kill her best friend. The book's end also leaves her as the sole survivor, having given birth to a boy which causes Death to leave her alone, at least, for now.
Gunter Nonhoff
A sarcastic German photographer who is dating Abigail.
- Deadpan Snarker: Sarcastic in attitude and will often drop in some serious lines dripping with dry humour.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: Gets severed in half at the waist by a speeding delivery truck.
William "Brut" Simms
A sociopathic male model and Sherry's boyfriend. He lost his entire family when he was a baby and he uses fake love to get everything he wants.
- Child by Rape: And Parental Incest, to boot! He was conceived by his grandfather, who had become obsessed with and repeatedly raped his own daughter.
- Deer in the Headlights: Spends his last moments screaming in terror as he gets hit by a subway train.
- Freudian Excuse: Apparently life took a massive dump on him. He was an inbred whose entire family was slaughtered when he was only a baby, and he spent the first six years of his life in a foster home being raped and abused. This ended up causing him to become the sociopath he is when we first read of him.
- Look Both Ways: Gets run over by a train after barely escaping the flood in the sewers.
- Tempting Fate: Just when he thinks he's safe from the sewer floods, a subway train goes on him.
Rosemarie "Rose" Dupree
A pompous, shallow model who suffers from bulimia and other eating disorders.
- Death by Irony: She had an eating disorder and always longed to be thinner than she already was. Let's just say she got her wish.
- Freudian Excuse: Her mother helped cause her body confidence issues and always refused to let her eat much.
Darly "Chardonnay"
A lesbian model who often consumes drugs.
- Super Drowning Skills: Boiled to death in a hot tub, right after having her skull smashed by the tub's lid.
- Trauma Conga Line: Has a long life filled with having people she cared about die or turn their backs on her.
Shirelle "Shiraz" Edelstein
A shallow model who has made contact with several music industries.
- Informed Judaism: She has a Jewish funeral but doesn't show many signs of being religious in her page time.
- Neck Snap: Zigzagged. She was decapitated after her hair got tangled in one of the car's wheels, but her head didn't fall off nor ripped off. Her head had turned 180 degrees in the opposite direction. In other words, she was internally decapitated.
Ruby "Chablis"
Another shallow model who is known to tend to her boyfriend's cat Tweak.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: She bites off her tongue after suffering a seizure from exposure to hydrogen cyanide gas, which eventually corrodes through her face.
