Characters / Knightmare Series 4 Teams

Go To

Team 1

Dungeoneer: Helen
Advisors: James, Rachel, Craig
From: Sunderland
Object of quest: Cup
Level attained: Level 3
Cause of death: Incorrect spell choice

  • Invisibility Cloak: Used a dagger that made Helen invisible.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Averted! Helen had made it to Level 3 and was facing off with Mogdred. As he sent a magic sword toward Helen, her advisors tried to cast their TRANSFORMATION spell. They were unable to finish spellcasting before the sword got to Helen and ended their quest. Treguard explained they were supposed to use the shorter BUT spell they'd also earned.
Treguard: Too long, Team. Your magic was too long. What you needed here was the shorter spell.
  • Time Stands Still: Used a FREEZE spell on Ariadne to escape her lair.

Team 2

Dungeoneer: Alastair
Advisors: Harry, Martin, James
From: Woodbridge, Suffolk
Object of quest: Shield
Level attained: Level 3
Cause of death: Too slow in the Corridor of Blades

  • Appeal to Flattery: Was able to avoid paying any gold to Fatilla by talking about how great he was.
  • Buffy Speak: Alastair first attempted to scare off an assassin by shouting, "BEGONE, ASSASSIN!" But when that didn't work, he just resorted to yelling, "GO AWAY!"
  • Clean Cut: First team to face, and fall victim to, the Corridor of Blades.
Treguard: Well I suppose that's just a slice of life, Team.
  • Slow Motion: Was given a self activating spell by Hordriss that allowed Alastair to avoid Gundrada and a love spell ridden Fatilla.
  • Super-Speed: Purchased a shoe belonging to Mercury that granted them a RUN spell, which they later used to escape from Ariadne.

Team 3

Dungeoneer: Nikki
Advisors: Corrina, Emma, Katharine
From: St. Albans
Object of quest: Crown
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Failure to acquire magic from answering a riddle correctly

  • Eaten Alive: Caught and devoured by Ariadne the spider after failing to get the necessary spell from Merlin.
Treguard: If only you'd gained some of Merlin's magic, then you could have made the spider hibernate.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Used a SMALL potion to get Nikki through a door, then were restored by Motley in the next chamber.

Team 4

Dungeoneer: Simon
Advisors: Andrew, Richard, Andrew
From: Swansea
Object of quest: Sword
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Misguidance

  • One-Steve Limit: Averted with two Andrews.
  • Time Stands Still: Used a magic hourglass to help Simon avoid a giant lizard.
  • Too Dumb to Live: One of Knightmare's most memorable deaths. Simon encounters the Block and Tackle room and when the ground immediately to the left of Simon falls away, one of the Andrews tells him to sidestep... to his left.
Treguard: You were never very good at maneuvering, we're you?

Team 5

Dungeoneer: Vicky
Advisors: Sarah, Susana, Katrina
From: Wymondham
Object of quest: Shield
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: (apparently) Failure to acquire magic from answering riddles correctly

  • Insane Troll Logic: In Oakley's clue room, the team seem to end up confusing a pair of goblins that accost them for assassins.
  • Poor Communication Kills: The team encounter Merlin who has taken to speaking in opposites. He poses them three riddles making it clear to the team they have to give the opposite answer to what is expected. The team unfortunately never get to grips with this, and they answer all three riddles incorrectly (the only team in Knightmare to do so). Merlin tells them they've earned a SPRINT spell (meaning they haven't earned the spell), and the lack of spell leads them to a quick end in the Block and Tackle. They were also the only team in the show's run in which their cause of death was revealed after their dismissal:
Treguard: Strange, because it wasn't the opposition that confused you, merely the opposites.
  • Too Dumb to Live:

Team 6

Dungeoneer: Dickon
Advisors: Dominic, Tim, Praveen
From: Torquay
Object of quest: Crown

  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: The first team since Series 2 to win their quest by reclaiming, appropriately enough, the crown.
  • Improbable Antidote: With life force energy running dangerously low after Malice's defeat and only a bottle of poison for sustenance, the team realise they can use the OPPOSITE spell they'd earned to reverse the poison's effects and allow them to drink it to restore Dickon's life force. This was also the only time in the show's run in which a team directly drank something to restore their life force without needing to put it in their knapsack.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Used magic pills to shrink Dickon and escape through a small door. What were pills called? Downers. And the pills to make him big again in the next chamber? Uppers. Seriously.
  • Projectile Spell: Used a FIRE spell on Malice that forced her to retreat.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Hordriss gave Dickon a potion to give to Brother Mace to pay Mace back for insulting him. Dickon tricked Mace into thinking it was brandy, but in reality it was a potion that turned him into a lizard.

Team 7

Dungeoneer: Jeremy
Advisors: Alexander, Amanda, Anthony.
From: London
Object of quest: Shield
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Misguidance

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: All of Jeremy's advisors' names start with A.
  • Laughing Mad: Was able to escape Fatilla by casting a JOKE spell.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: Their quest came to an end in the Block and Tackle room when the floor Jeremy was standing on gave way as they headed for the left-hand door.
Treguard: A fatal error of timing, I'm afraid, Team.
  • Poison Mushroom: At the start of Level 2, the team found a statue that had "the evil eye", which strated draining their life force rapidly until they put a cloth over the eyes.
Treguard: Extreme warning, Team. This heathen idol has what they call 'the evil eye'. Whilst it continues to look on you, extreme energy drain is occuring!
  • Time Stands Still: Used a magic hourglass to stop the Corridor of Blades so Jeremy could get out of it.

Team 8

Dungeoneer: Giles
Advisors: Robin, Andrew, Brett
From: New Forest, Hampshire
Object of quest: Cup
Level attained: Level 3

  • Big "YES!": Brett's cry of, "Brilliant!"
  • Cards of Power: Summoned Motley with a Joker card to help fend off Ariadne.
  • Christmas Episode: Series 4 ended quite close to Christmas, so the team were given a festive send off after being rescued from the dungeon.
  • Don't Ask, Just Run: Bolted out of the Corridor of Blades, ran to escape a falling bridge, then had some hectic instruction and scrambling to get out of the Block and Tackle room.
  • Perfumigation: Used a potion called Sniff to put Fatilla out of action.
  • Spanner in the Works: A literal case, as Brett stops a conveyor belt he's on by tossing a spanner.
  • Super-Speed: Used a DASH spell from Motley to evade goblins.
