The Rebellion

    The Future Princess
The Little Princess, now ten years older. She became the leader of the Resistance after you suddenly vanished while in the Rah Empire, and as such had to deal with a lot of heavy decisions that cost her her innocence.

See the Light Unique Heroes page.

Relevant Invaders

    The Dark Magician
A mysterious cloaked figure that attacked you, Eva, and the Queen and Princess during your escape from Kanterbury. They became the leader of the subjugation army that aimed to take down the Resistance and Heavenhold to finally "cleanse" the world.

See the Dark Unique Heroes page for her tropes as both the Magician and as playable Beth.

    The Savior (SPOILER WARNING)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/savior_2.png
I want to create a world where my people can live peacefully.
The enigmatic supreme leader of the Invaders, mentioned a few times up until his first on-screen appearance in World 11 Nightmare. Seems to be aware of the absolute truth of the world.
  • Affably Evil: He speaks casually and politely to the Future Princess in their meeting, but just as casually threatens to kill everyone in the resistance if she refuses his demand. According to the Other Knight, his laid back behavior hides his true nature as a terrifyingly twisted malicious thing.
  • Ambiguously Evil: With so little characterization and scarce information as of World 18, it is very unclear if the Savior still believes in the Invaders' cause, or if his actions are merely born from an apathetic resignation to being the villain of the story, seeing it as much of an inevitably as the sun rising at dawn.
  • Barrier Maiden: A flashback to the Other Knight's final battle shows that the Savior's death unleashes something that destroys the universe.
  • Deal with the Devil: Forces one on the Future Princess. He offers to send her back in time to the initial invasion of Kanterbury in exchange for a three-year truce from the Invaders. If she refused, he'd have his forces annihilate the now-weakened resistance immediately. Seeing no other option, she reluctantly accepts.
  • The Dreaded: In his first appearance, he manages to unnerve the usually-kept together Future Princess into immediate surrender with just his gaze and aura. It clearly lets players know that the Savior isn't the supreme leader of the Invaders for no reason. Even the Other Knight, who managed to kill him in their timeline, is scared of ever having to face the Savior again. They estimate that their current counterpart wouldn't last two seconds against him.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: For unknown reasons, he seems to genuinely care for Beth on a personal level. He came to Heavenhold to pay his respects personally after her death and mentions he had some sort of familiarity with her mother.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He is the leader of the main antagonistic force of the story, after all. His dialogue and enigmatic scheming imply there's a bigger villain than him behind the scenes, secretly influencing everyone's actions that not even he can directly oppose.
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: Whatever his real goals are, they aren't nearly as simple as taking over the world or wiping out humanity.
  • Humanoid Abomination: He looks like a basic Invader trooper covered in shadow, but his power and awareness are far beyond anything else yet seen. Every character who knows of him, including powerhouses like Beth or the Other Knight, are outright terrified of him.
  • If I Wanted You Dead...: His conversation with Future Princess has him casually say that he could have the entire surviving resistance destroyed on a whim. Having felt the overwhelming power of his aura alone, she knew that he wasn't bluffing.
  • Leitmotif: Aptly called "Messiah", no less. Particularly much more foreboding and heavy compared to the rest of the ever-growing soundtrack.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: He offers to send Future Princess back in time to save the Knight and influence the timeline however she sees fit afterwards. In exchange, he promises a three-year ceasefire from the Invaders. If she refuses, he says he'll kill the resistance then and there. Knowing that the battle-weary resistance has no chance of opposing a full Invader assault, FP reluctantly agrees.
  • Pet the Dog: On his discreet visit to Heavenhold Castle, he prays for the deceased Beth, calling her by her full name Elizabeth, and leaves flowers on the seat she once sat on.
  • Physical God: The limits of his power are unknown, but he can easily send people back in time and is near unstoppable without the fully powered Champion's Sword. His mere presence is so overwhelming that the battle-hardened Future Princess orders her allies to immediately stand down rather than risk inciting his wrath by opposing him. The Invaders' near-religious reverence of him is fully justified.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: He's fully aware of the innumerable iteration of each time loop the world has been through, but is forced to continually play the same role as villain through all of them by parties even more powerful than himself.
  • Secret-Keeper: He clearly knows something about the truth of the prophecy surrounding the Knight, but don't expect him to just lay it out for everyone to learn without his roundabout babble.
  • Screw Destiny: He seems to want to avert the usual cycle of the universe, but his motives and plan for doing so are completely unknown.
  • Time Abyss: He seems to have lived through the countless resets the universe has gone through, making him unfathomably old by now.
  • Time Loop Fatigue: Having lived through an unknowable number of repetitions of the universe, the Savior has long since stopped caring about much of anything. From the Other Knight's flashback of the end of their final battle, the Savior's only reaction to his imminent death is bitter resignation to his role as the villain of the "story". The only thing that does get much of a reaction out of him is the anomaly that is the Princess herself as she represents a possibility to finally end the cycle.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: He gets very excited when he realizes that the Princess is an anomaly in the timeline that has never appeared before. This makes him believe she's his best chance to disrupt the "scripted" events that would normally lead to disaster for the universe.
  • World's Strongest Man: His power eclipses that of any character yet seen. In a setting full of superhumans, advanced weaponry, and outright gods, he stands on a level all his own. Nothing short of the fully-empowered Champion's Sword stands any chance against him.
