    Roxas
The 13th member of Organization XIII. Originally Sora's Nobody. No longer this after growing a heart and Becoming a Real Boy.

    Xion
The XIV member of Organization XIII. Originally an Opposite-Sex Clone of Sora created by Vexen. No longer the case after growing a heart and Becoming a Real Girl.
  • Action Girl
  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: She literally looks different to different people, based on both the memories she's comprised of and the memories of the people looking at her. She appears to have her hood up for anyone when they're first meeting her, even if it appears down for someone else. Roxas, Axel, Emerl and Xion herself all see her black-haired appearance, although it's implied that Axel at first saw her as Namine. Riku and Namine see her as Kairi, Xigbar sees Ventus, Xemnas sees Sora, and Saix sees a faceless puppet.
  • Artificial Human: She's a Replica created by Vexen that was designed to absorb Sora's memories and give Xemnas another Keyblade user to control.
  • Badass Adorable
  • Base-Breaking Character: In-Universe, she breaks Organization XIII into Team Xemnas (who sees her as a disposable tool), Team Xigbar (who sees her as a bland powerhouse) and Team Roxas (who sees Xion as a normal Nobody), the latter which reforms into Team Emerl (who sees Xion as a normal Keyblade Wielder).
  • The Blank: Her true, original appearance had no features (implied to be how all replicas start out). Eventually she develops the appearance of Kairi but with black hair, but some people, most notably Saïx, literally never come to see her as anything but a doll.
  • Break the Cutie: She spends Days growing from a blank shell that speaks in monosyllables to a kind, inquisitive, downright heroic kid in parallel with Roxas. Then come the revelations about what she is and what dangers she poses to her best friends and the worlds as a whole, and her personality takes a turn towards the darker until she feels like she has no choice but to go rogue from the Organization, and worse. Fortunately, Emerl made her snap out of it.
  • Cessation of Existence: Since she's made of memories and is basically bound to existence by them alone, returning to Sora means getting rid of her only tethers to reality. However, it's a subversion; while normal memories of Xion are erased, data of her cannot, meaning that Emerl's memories of Xion weren't erased: being a robot, all his memories are data, which Shard foreshadows into one of his reports.
Shard: "Being a Reploid does have it's perks. Our hearts, souls and memories are entirely data. While it does make us prone to manipulations, there are two upsides to it: 1) the terminal from which the data of me and my brothers can be tampered with is in Tails' lab and has an up-to-date anti-Robotnik firewall, and 2) we can only forget by ourselves if we willingly and deliberately erase that data."
  • Clone Angst: Not just that she lacks individuality: Lots of angst comes from her being not who or what she thought she was and being dangerous to her friends just by existing.
  • The Cutie: Xion is a shy, soft spoken, and adorable sweetheart.
  • Death Is the Only Option: She thinks this is the case, because if she continues to exist Roxas will fade. However, Emerl defies this. Ultimately played straight when she and Roxas are absorbed together by Sora.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Because of Emerl attempting to defy Xion's Suicide by Cop attempt, Xion lived on until Roxas himself was absorbed by Sora.
  • Distaff Counterpart: To Roxas, since she is the only other Organization XIII member who can wield the Keyblade. Turns out she literally is this.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After living out her first life essentially being The Chew Toy, Xion finally got her hard-earned happy ending when Emerl, Even and Ienzo beat Xehanort to reviving her.
  • Face Death with Dignity: When Naminé basically announces her death sentence before the climax of Days, Xion seems to hold no fear of it, since it is for the greater good. However, Emerl defies this stating that doing this is "something only an idiot does".
  • Fighting Your Friend: She fights each of her three true friends at least once.
    • She and Roxas are first tricked by the Organization to see each other as Heartless to eliminate in order to test them and narrow down their shared power to one entity. She then attempts to goad Roxas into killing her, only to be stopped by Emerl.
    • She and Axel first fight when Axel is sent to retrieve Xion for the Organization after she's gone rogue looking for answers. Xehanort later attempts to invoke it by having Xion be part of the True Organization while Axel's Somebody, Lea, is a Guardian of Light, only to be stopped by Emerl, Even and Ienzo.
    • She and Emerl fought during Xion's Suicide by Cop attempt, because Emerl was trying to defy death.
  • Gender Bender: Xion identifies as female and for the most part looks it, but she's actually supposed to be a Replica of Roxas and by extension Sora. Her entire being is constructed from Sora's memories and it's explained that her appearance came from the fact the strongest of those memories were those Sora had of Kairi, but when she has memory flashbacks she sees them from Sora's point of view, she sometimes turns into Sora, Roxas, or Riku in her nightmares, and when enough of Sora's memories make it into Xion's body her appearance physically changes into that of Sora, until Emerl steals the Organization's devices on himself, changing her back. Her choice of words after this is revealed make it clear that despite her origins and this transformation, she still identifies as a girl.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Played With: she's an unambiguously nice person who simply gets shuffled around through various sides all over the morality spectrum through no fault of her own, meaning that it’s usually more like a Hazy-Feel Turn than anything whenever she changes from protagonist to antagonist or vice versa. To recount, she begins as a fellow member of Organization XIII to Roxas, which makes her a protagonist from Roxas’s perspective (i.e. the player’s) but an antagonist to the rest of the Kingdom Hearts universe due to her affiliation with its main threat. But when Riku reveals the truth of her origins to her and she discovers that she and Roxas were Obliviously Evil all along. She then joins forces with the Big Good Emerl when he tells her she is just like him (i.e. an artificial life form longing for an identity of it's own) and when he makes it clear that, to both the Organization and to Riku's allies, Xion is nothing but a tool. Then Axel brings her back to the Organization to rejoin her original side, before she escapes again and rejoins Emerl. When she is brought back a second time, Xemnas, her unambiguously evil boss, powers her up to make her a killing machine intended to take Roxas’s power. This makes her both an antagonist and a villain now, but she instead attempts to use this turn of events to commit Suicide by Cop in a Heroic Sacrifice to return Roxas’s power to him, only for Emerl to turn Xemnas' plan against him. She and Roxas are taken in by the unambiguously good Freedom Fighters, except that Roxas and Xion return to Sora a week later, dying in the service of Anti-Hero Diz. Later on, Xehanort tries to turn Xion into his vessel which makes her entirely on the villains’ side again, only to be twarthed by Emerl, Even and Ienzo, who turn her completely and unambiguously on the heroes’ and protagonists’ side, where she stays, finally aligned fully with her morals.
