Natives of Dogon

     Lord Ahura Mazda

Tyrannical ruler of the planet Dogon. He sends his son Mithras to Earth to begin a mining operation, but things go awry when his rival Angra Mainyu interferes.

  • Bad Boss: Treats his subjects and servants terribly and eventually massacres his own people.
  • The Caligula: Eventually reaches a state of total madness due to losing contact with Mithras, which involves sexually assaulting his underlings, spraying his people with urine, and ordering mass executions on a whim.
  • Meaningful Name: Shares his name with the Zoroastrian equivalent of God.
  • Depraved Bisexual
  • Sanity Slippage: Begins as merely a tyrant, but once we see him in person later in the story he's devolved into a maniacal freak who actively torments any and all of his subjects, as detailed above.

     Mithras
The petulant son of Ahura Mazda and leader of early human civilization.

  • Abusive Parents: Hates all of his children with a passion, believing them to be deformed freaks, and doesn't have much respect for his wife. At one point he threatens to put them all in a zoo.
  • Ancient Astronauts: Lands on Earth in 10,000 BC and immediately starts influencing human culture and technology, developing them for his own purposes.
  • Bad Boss: To his workers on Earth, and Nommo.
  • Jerkass: Abuses his assistant Nommo and has a very thinly-veiled contempt for his wife and children. When they eventually rebel, he threatens to put them all in a zoo.
  • Meaningful Name: Shares his name with a figure in Zoroastrian divinity, and also alludes to the Mithraic religion of the Roman Empire.
  • Mind Rape: On the receiving end, from his own children.

     Nommo
Mithras' lowly assistant back on Dogon, secretly an integral part of Lucifer's schemes.

Angra Mainyu and Subjects

     Emperor Angra Mainyu
The Emperor of the Galaxy, he deploys Serapis and the Nephalim Guard to disrupt Ahura Mazda's activities on Earth.

  • Bad Boss: Casually insults Atys to his face and has no sympathy for his suffering. He barely notices when Atys falls over apparently dead in front of his throne, and simply orders for his body to be removed.
  • Meaningful Name: Named after the Zoroastrian equivalent of Satan.

     Atys
A low-ranked assassin employed by Angra Mainyu to eliminate Serapis after Operation Heavenly Sword goes rogue.

  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: After encountering Marduk, he is turned into a glowing rock in one of the comic's more surreal sequences. What this implies about his fate is unclear.
  • Butt-Monkey: Constantly humiliated by Serapis every time he tries to beat him, and doesn't get any sympathy from Angra Mainyu.
  • Meaningful Name: An altered spelling of the Greek deity Attis, who was castrated, died and resurrected.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Constantly insults Serapis for being a hermaphrodite, and fantasizes about raping shim.

The androgynous leader of Operation Heavenly Sword, sent by Angra Mainyu to prevent Mithras from taking control of Earth. He quickly decides to take the planet over for himself.

  • The Ace: A great tactician and virtually unbeatable warrior. According to Atys, he is the greatest fighter in the known universe.
  • The Dragon: For Angra Mainyu, at first.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: Sent by Angra Mainyu to put a stop to Mithras' illegal mining operation. He quickly decides that he not only wants in on the business, he wants to rule the planet.

  • No Biological Sex: Variously referred to as transgender, hermaphroditic and androgynous.
