* KickTheSonOfABitch: Burns Totopepe after he is defeated in battle.

Later in the plot, this gets a complete inversion as Heintz turns out to be a ManipulativeBastard. His attempting to court Hilda and Visco before him revealed to be just a part of his power-hungry plan, not out of love.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Discarding Belda when she is no longer useful to him is a mix of this and KickTheDog. On one hand, Belda was loyal to him because he was the [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe only person nice to her]], and considering [[UsedToBeASweetKid the kind of person he used to be]], this shows just how far he's fallen. On the other hand, Belda had remorselessly committed all sorts of atrocities just to earn his favor, [[SelectiveObliviousness even when it's clear he's just using her]], so Belda is far from sympathetic. The fact that she shows no signs of having changed for the better even after being resurrected, whereas even Heintz himself [[PetTheDog showed a moment of kindness towards a resurrected Mitten]], certainly doesn't help Belda's case.

* BalefulPolymorph: Downplayed. She was only partially transformed, gaining a dog's tail and nose. Otherwise, she's perfectly fine.

He doesn't so much cross the [[MoralEventHorizon Moral Event Horizon]] himself as use his charm to make others cross it for him.

* KickTheDog: Breaks Metallia's arm at the kingdom's celebration and later completely discards [[MadLove Belda]] when she stops being of use to him. He's also fine with ordering Visco killed.
* ManipulativeBastard: Despite his [[PetTheDog pet the dog moments with Mitten]] and seemingly nice attitude, he is this through and through. He tried to marry into the royal family by courting Visco, and immediately moved onto her sister Hilda when she left the kingdom. He also conspires with Belda to frame Metallia and coordinates the [[WitchHunt witch-hunt]] plot with his father and brother. His motivation for this is to remove the witches as a [[TheMagocracy ruling power for the Kingdom]] and increase his own standing, allowing him to rule through "Pure Politics".
* NiceGuy: His public face is generally is this, and is very polite and courteous to pretty much everyone he comes across, including [[CuteMonsterGirl Mitten]] and [[SirSwearsALot Metallia]].
* PetTheDog: Towards [[CuteMonsterGirl Mitten]]. He sees her at the roadside and unlike other characters in the story, is not repulsed by her and gives her his, [[MeaningfulName mitten]] to keep warm. He is also one of the few people who was ever nice to Belda, even if a lie.
