* TheGlomp: She gives Kirkis a tight glomp after running to him once he's spotted in the Kobold village and she's just finished bringing in Mathiu and the Liberation Army to help, as the good sign that she's alive. There's even a sprite for it.

* HighSchoolSweetHearts: She is engaged to Kirkis, which would be a very long time considering how long lived elves are.
* TheIngenue: She's very innocent and naive of the world outside her village. In her case, this is a really good thing, because the other elves except Kirkis and possibly Stallion are [[{{Jerkass}} arrogant jerks]]. Supporting this case is that she's the youngest of the recruitable elves.

* OurMonstersAreDifferent: He's a Kobold, but Suikoden Kobolds are more like cute dogs than the more usual lizardine versions.

* ScreamingWarrior: Part of his BadassBoast is that when he screams, the whole Lake Toran turn upside down. And whenever he leads the charge in wars, he lets out a massive scream.

* MeaningfulName: 'Melodye' is both a girls' name and also a musical term, befitting her role.
* MusicAndSoundEffects: Her speciality. She can change the menu sound effect options once recruited.

* GentleGiant: Despite her intimidating size, she's very good natured.

* AnimateDead: His speciality is resurrection magic, which is used to bring back to life fallen party members in combat.

* OneSteveLimit: He is the only Hugo in this game, but one of the the protagonists from ''VideoGame/SuikodenIII'' shares his name.

* HerCodeNameWasMarySue: He wrote the stage play "Imperial Love", describing the events of the final battle of the game. In there, Milich reveals himself to Barbarossa as the mastermind behind the Liberation Army and effortless defeats the Golden Hydra, earning praise by everyone present.

* SissyVillain: Milich is flamboyant, wears makeup and weird clothes and use poisonous roses as weapons. While brainwashed, he also used his authority to give weird French names to the nearby towns: "Lac Virginite"[[note]]"Lake of Virginity"[[/note]] (Teien), "Premier L'Amour"[[note]]"First Love"[[/note]] (Rikon) and "Bier Blanche"[[note]] he mucks this one up, as this literally means "Light Beer (lager)"[[/note]] (Antei).

* OldSoldier: Kasim is the oldest general and still can fight. Even after the formation of the Toran Republic, he still an active member of the, now Six, Great Generals.
* OutGambitted: By Mathiu, who uses himself as a hostage in order to Tir to rescue Viktor and Warren. Mathiu also ordered his troops to attack Moravia castle and manipulated the Jowston Army into attacking Kasim's Army, preventing them from sending reinforcements.

* MagicalGirlWarrior: Her other speciality.

* AdaptationalBadass: She already had a good stat growth in-game, and is a good archer though she unfortunately died way too quick. However, there was tie-in material which revolves around Odessa and her first lover before Flik came along: Achilles. It was this man's death and his final speech of "Defeat the Empire!" which spurred Odessa to kickstart the Liberation Army... and kill a lot of Imperial soldiers with just a sword, whilst still wearing [[KickingAssInAllHerFinery her wedding gown]]. And it's ''canon''. She might've bitten the dust too early because of maternal instinct kicking in at the wrong time, but dang, she's badass.

* MagneticHero: She's already capable of getting few capable people to join her cause and believing in her cause, having good eyes on what makes a good hero. Though when she comes across Tir, she eventually realizes that her MagneticHero credentials simply [[OvershadowedByAwesome lose out against his]].
* TheParagon: She uses her folk hero status to inspire the people around her to rally to the Liberation Army's cause.

* QuicklyDemotedWoman: She joins the party early in the game, and has great stats - unfortunately, she is killed very soon after joining as a PlotDevice to allow the Hero to take over the leadership of the Liberation Army. It's most likely that even if she survived, she'll try to find an excuse to relinquish leadership to Tir anyway since she has a tendency to play the long, fruitful game for her Liberation Army and she thinks that Tir is the greater MagneticHero between the two.

* SimpleStaff: His weapon of choice -- a six foot staff. Tir is quite notable as being one of the earlier Fantasy JRPG heroes that does not [[HeroesPreferSwords prefer swords]] and instead using a blunt weapon like staves.

* NiceHat: Tall, conical and similar to a nightcap.
