Twice. That said, Chisame is more willing to let Negi take risky decisions than Asuna, such as even ''encouraging'' him to learn [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Magia Erebea]] if he feels that's what he wants.

* ArmorPiercingSlap: So powerful it goes straight through Evangeline's shields, though it turns out to be due to AntiMagic.

* FamilyEyeResemblance: She shares her heterochromia with [[spoiler:Negi's mother Arika]], and while they are connected by blood, it isn't explained how.

* WhatTheHellHero: When Setsuna learns that [[spoiler:Asuna will be sealed for 100 years to stabilize the Magic World, and thus will probably never see her friends again]], Setsuna [[ArmorPiercingSlap slaps Asuna]] and [[BrokenTears with tears in her eyes]] asks Asuna how she could keep such a huge secret from her. Setsuna had to learn it from Albireo after she insisted that she had a right to know as Asuna's BestFriend. Also [[IronicEcho ironically]], Setsuna asked Asuna the same question Asuna asked Setsuna two chapters earlier, when Asuna (half-jokingly) tearfully chewed Setsuna out for treating her like a princess: "Aren't we friends?"

The most notable example is the scene in Chapter 209 where she sheds tears as she contemplates the possibility that Negi won't wake up again if he fails the Magia Erebea test.

* CryCute: Yue rarely expresses real concern about the danger she's in, but at the thought she might have hurt or offended Nodoka, she's reduced to tears.

** She breaks down in tears when Hakase checks her memory and discovers Negi is the one she likes against her wishes.

** Asuna is the dumb, plain, and tomboyish "bad girl" of the class, while Ayaka is the smart, beautiful, girly leader of Class 3-A. With that said, when outside the class, Asuna tends to be more street savvy while Ayaka is blissfully naive.
** Asuna was raised in a relatively modest manner, contrasting Ayaka who was raised in wealth as the class {{Ojou}}. It's revealed later on that Asuna is really a magical Princess, putting them at basically the same social standing.
** Asuna is well known for her taste in older men (or men that ''look'' older than her), and Ayaka is well known for her taste in little boys.
** Asuna is fairly modest when it comes to clothing, hating anything frilly and showing off her body. Ayaka relishes any chance to dress up whether in a bikini or dress. Ironically, Asuna takes the brunt of the nudity scenes in the series while Ayaka has very few of them.
** Finally, their interactions with Negi completely differ. Asuna is initially very prickly though she warms up to him later on, while Ayaka is smitten from the very beginning and rarely changes her stance on him.

* GenericCuteness: Judging by the startled reactions of her friends at the ball and during her 'date' with Takahata, Asuna is apparently supposed to look fairly plain most of the time.

* InterclassFriendship: She's been best friends with [[Fiction500 Ayaka]] ever since childhood. Subverted when it turns out that she's actually a princess.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: As Negi describes her, Asuna is "overbearing, crude and violent", but also an incredibly caring and loyal CoolBigSis.

* TheNotLoveInterest: She acts as Negi's main partner for a good part of the series and her role resembles that of a standard {{Tsundere}} love interest. While Negi's bond with Asuna is certainly the strongest amongst his students, the romantic angle was always pretty ambiguous. This becomes more concrete starting with the Magic World arc where Chisame pretty much replaces Asuna as Negi's right-hand woman and Asuna barely gets to interact with Negi anymore (when they do, it's actually Shiori in disguise). In the final chapters, it's confirmed the girl Negi has romantic feelings for isn't Asuna, although she's still [[PlatonicLifePartners the most important person to him in a platonic sense]].

* PlatonicDeclarationOfLove: Towards [[VitriolicBestBuds Ayaka]], the day before [[spoiler:she went to sleep for 100 years]].
* PlatonicLifePartners: Besides Ayaka, this is what becomes of her relationship with Negi, who she explicitly views as a little brother, but their bond goes further than just that. Negi, for his part considers Asuna to be the most important person in his life.

** She takes to magic like a duck to water, even outclassing Konoka early on in their training, a girl said to have more magical potential than the ''Thousand Master''.
** One of the school clubs she's in is the "Children's Literature Club".

* CharacterDevelopment: Nodoka begins the series as the typical ShrinkingViolet, but quickly grows a spine and starts taking steps to prove herself to Negi and his friends. She goes from one of the meekest girls to one of the bravest.

* GrewASpine: With respect to her relationship with Negi. She started off as a NervousWreck in the first few volume of the manga, but she quickly adapts and helps Negi by the time of the Tokyo visit.

* HiddenEyes: She started with [[BlindingBangs very long bangs obscuring her eyes]], to highlight her terminal shyness. As her [[GrewASpine shyness subsided]], she [[PeekABangs first became cyclopean]] then was drawn normally.

* {{Polyamory}}: Nodoka seems pretty intent on taking Negi for herself, but her subconscious reveals that she's actually perfectly fine with sharing Negi with her best friend, Yue.

* SweetSeal: Her Suka form in ''Negima!?'' depicts her as a seal (complete with circus ball).

* RapunzelHair: Even though she wears it in GirlishPigtails, her hair reaches her knees.

She wears her red RapunzelHair in GirlishPigtails, is a sweet {{Tsundere}} who warms to Negi after his bad first impression, and [[ShipTease might be]] a main love interest--if [[ChasteHero Negi]] weren't ObliviousToLove. Asuna has superhuman physical traits and starts off UnskilledButStrong. As part of her [[AMagicContractComesWithAKiss pactio]] with Negi, she receives the [[{{BFS}} Ensis Exorcizans]], which posesses offensive AntiMagic to complement her own AntiMagic and the YinYangBomb ability she learns. She is [[ReallyRoyaltyReveal revealed to be a princess of the Kingdom of Ostia,]] known as [[RedBaron the Imperial Princess of Twilight]]. [[spoiler:She inherited the [[PersonOfMassDestruction Magic of Creation and Destruction]] from her ancestor the [[PhysicalGod Mage]] of [[TheMaker the Beginning]], who wants to use it to [[DestroyerDeity destroy]] and [[LotusEaterMachine replace]] the [[MagicalLand Magical World]].]]

* RapunzelHair: It reaches her waist.

* RapunzelHair: Her hair acts as a heat dissipator; thus the longer her hair, the greater the exposed surface area and thus increased efficiency in heat dissipation. It has nothing to do with the usual connotation's of the trope.

* RapunzelHair: The length seems somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes it's to slightly above her waist and sometimes it trails a few inches below.
