Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

Very minor request: In Literature A To L , the entry for I Hunt Killers links to a nonexistent page (I'm asking about that over at ATT) but also contains an apparent case of Rouge Angles of Satin : "soul winner" should almost certainly be "sole winner". Also it's kind of overloaded with spoiler tags and I'm not sure if that's proper either.

I'm guessing a fixed entry would look like this:

  • The Hat-Dog Killer, or more specifically, Duncan Hershey, the Hat Killer: He started raping his female victims, which disgusted Oliver Belsamo, the Dog Killer, when he was forced to start raping as part of the Game's rules. When Jasper and Morales had him cornered, Jasper got shot in the arm while Morales got knocked out. When Jasper warned him that killing an FBI Agent will cause trouble for his killing spree, he ignores his warning and kills the unconscious Morales in front of him. He then kills Belsamo so he can be the sole winner of Billy's game. Finally, he locks a shot Jasper in a storage unit so he could bleed to death. We're at first made to believe he was a Loony Fan like the Impressionist, but he believes that he is a better killer than Billy. While the Impressionist and Belsamo were pretty bad, they had a set of rules that they obeyed unless it's an emergency like in the former's case. Hershey, on the other hand, doesn't care about that. All he cares about is his reward and showing up Billy.

Please add this to the Fifty Shades of Grey page:

  • Informed Ability: Intelligence. For several characters.
    • In-universe, people say Ana is smart. But there is cause for doubt.
      • When she and her friends are going to Aspen in the middle of summer, she thinks they might be planning to ski.
      • At one point, she can't understand how to use a laptop until somebody explains it to her.
      • Despite being an English major, she thinks Thomas Hardy wrote romance. And while she's read some classic novels, she never shows any sign of any deeper understanding of them.
    • Christian is supposed to be quite the clever cookie, too. With that said:
      • He takes Ana to a hair salon that's run by his ex, and doesn't understand why that upsets her.
      • When his crazy ex is out to kill Ana, he doesn't call the police.

~Matt Striker: Did the word fix. For the rest of the edit, I am not sure how to handle it; might want to ask in the Complete Monster thread.

~Michael Katsuro: Um, that looks a bit questionable to me; like complaining about characters.

VERY questionable. For example, Aspen has year-round skiing. Just because you don't have snow in the summer where you live, doesn't mean Aspen Snowmass has to shut down.

On Creator's Pet, add this to the list of tropes that contrast Creator's Pet: "Finally contrast Take That, Scrappy!, when The Scrappy is insulted in some fashion rather than being praised." Also remove the word "finally" from the sentence where it says that Ensemble Dark Horse contrasts Creator's Pet, as once you make this edit, it won't be the last one.

~SWFMax: That "Related Tropes" paragraph is already long, and I think Character Shilling would make a better article to contrast with Take That, Scrappy!, anyhow.

DTH otherwise.

I just found out that The Sweetest Tart isn't a work page, unlike what it is wrongly tagged, but actually a troper page. Please move it to Tropers. The Sweetest Tart so that it can be deleted from Main/.

So Aspen has skiing in August? Huh. I did not know that. Thanks for telling me. In that case, I'd be super grateful if you'd add this to the Fifty Shades of Grey page instead:

  • Artistic License – Geography: When Ana, Christian and their friends are going to Aspen, Ana asks if they're going to be skiing. Christian comments that it wouldn't be possible in August. Thing is, it's perfectly possible to go skiing in Aspen in August.

I noticed the Cannon Fodder link under Cross Ange in Anime And Manga Ato H was changed back to curly braces.

@10566: Added the examples; but for Light, I definitively get the impression that the example texts go into too much irrelevant detail. Holding off on that one for now (also, trying to handle the edit requests without a mouse is really cumbersome).

@10567: Moved.

@10568: There is nothing in the climate data from there that suggests that August would have any snow for skiing. Maybe I am missing something, but I am thinking no to that entry.

@10569: Changed back.

[up][up]It SHOULD be curly braces. CamelCase isn't necessary there.

No, we don't want to use curly braces where CamelCase works. It breaks Ctrl+F searches and that is a bad thing if you ever have to do a wick cleanup.

For adding a new DMOS entry in That Guy With the Glasses, does that count as an edit or not?
