Bumping. Any ideas here?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI guess that does look like a problem, doesn't it?
I don't think there's much we can do outside of deleting those bad ones, though. Maybe move it to Administrivia, I guess.

Rhymes with "Protracted."The other thing I thought of was merging The Same But More and The Same But More Specific under a name like Insuffienctly Distinct Trope (as these stock phrases aren't at all that clear - are they tropes, administrative guidelines, Stock Phrases or even a synonym for Sub-Trope?).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI suggest killing the bad wicks. That alone might be enough to make the problem go away (as it will remove the monkey-see-monkey-do temptation). If they start reappearing, then it might be time for more drastic action.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.^^ We already have Ridiculously Similar Trope. The Same But More and The Same But More Specific are variants of that.
I think this should be in administrativia; it's a meta-page, not a trope. That people are potholing to it is a problem.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Bumping because there is a crowner here
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, this would force people to type Admnistrivia/ before linking to these predefined messages. Sounds brilliant. Way too many people just throw those into YKTTW's and threads without actually bothering to read or understand them. At least this'll make them do some extra typing.
Um, no, we're not cutting any redirects here anytime soon.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Votes bump.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalling crowner: Move to administrivia and clean the wicks.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Did I miss the part where we voted to cut the redirects? What was that about?

Rhymes with "Protracted."That part was decided by someone because all their wicks were misuse.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's because the Related function only counts wicks in the wiki. Predefined Messages are meant for discussion; any links on the wiki are likely to be incorrect. It was being used correctly in discussions.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Wiki pages dealing with wikicentric topics are free to link to each other as long as it's relevant to the context it's mentioned in. Beyond that, yes, they shuldn't be linked as if they were tropes.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Finished The Same But More. Didn't start the others, mostly due to them having more wicks for not much time. A few questions:
- Bonus Points, Humor Mode, It Makes Sense in Context, Makes Just as Much Sense in Context, Sincerity Mode, You Have Been Warned and Not Safe for Work look more like tropes or Stock Phrases than like something that goes into Administrivia/. Leave or move?
- Clear Concise Witty: Not sure if I am allowed to touch that.
- Complaining About Shows You Dont Like, Everythings Worse With Snowclones, Just A Face And A Caption, There Is No Such Thing As Notability and Work Pages Are A Free Launch are locked. Is the procedure simply to do all the page move steps that you can do yourself and then ask for redirecting, or are there more requirements?
- Search Generated Index looks like a Wiki Trope + Administrivia, but I still lean towards move.
- Needs an Index and In Universe Examples Only are indexes, so I think of leaving them in Main.
Search Generated Index is a Wiki Trope
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.A Wiki Trope and Administrivia both fall under the same genre: Topics pertaining to the culture on this wiki.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.So it stays on /Main/, methinks.
Any replies to the other questions?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHowever, Search Generated Indexes are not unique to this wiki. And Wiki Tropes should include those that are not unique to this wiki.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Indeed. A Vitalising Edit, or however you spell it, can happen on any wiki.
To all the pages in the first bullet of 17: Why would any of those go in Administrivia/? None are policy or the like; they're tropes/wiki tropes.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The word you are searching for is Vitalizing Edit, and I was pointing out 17.1 as things that ought to stay in Main/.
The Search Generated Index question was more about the fact that as-is the page only speaks about us, and is written like a policy page.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGot ahead a bit in the work, but now I am not sure if Trope Namer Syndrome should really be in Administrivia/. Opinions?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDo you need a TRS thread now that you've dealt with The Same But More? You could try a general administrivia sorting in Special efforts.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
So, The Same But More is a Predefined Message about not splitting tropes between Trope X and Trope Xtreme. But it has significant wicks from work pages, and from a check of the upper 50 wicks it seems to be largely used literally rather than as the guideline.
My thought here was to move the page to Administrivia. The Same But More and disambiguate or redirect the current one to something else.
Obligatory wick check
Literal misuse
Other misuse
Correct
Uncounted
Unclear
- Ask The Tropers: Probably correct, actually.
- Bee-Bee Gun: I can't see it, actually.
- Elemental Shapeshifter
- Footy Rules
- Front Line Assembly
