What's wrong with the -ings?

I had a great idea for a multi-crossover fanfic involving multiple franchises, but set in the universe of Stephen King's The Stand. The only core characters from The Stand that make the carry-over are Mother Abigail and the main villain, Randall Flagg.

I figured, on Mother Abigail's side are Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Saturn (all from Sailor Moon), Vito Scaletta (Mafia II), Henry Wong (Digimon Tamers), Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion), as well as Chris and Claire Redfield (Resident Evil)

On Randall Flagg's side are Vic Mackey (The Shield), Eric Cartman (South Park), Sora (Kingdom Hearts), Jessie and James (Pokemon), Johnny Gat (Saints Row), Kagura (Inuyasha), and Reika Kitami (Bible Black, but a heavily sanitized, Bleached Underpants presentation of her character).

[up][up]Whilst one problem can be using too many 'ing's in a single sentence, creating the impression that a character is doing an improbable amount of things at once rather than one after the other, your problem is simply that you use the same sentence structure too often, making what should be an epic, punchy scene rather monotonous. You should try mixing things up a little, like dropping dialogue tags from certain bits altogether. You don't always need to say 'Link yelled', or 'Link passionately cried', or even 'Link said' - sometimes the dialogue (and a well-placed paragraph of dramatic buildup, if required) speaks for itself.

What's precedent ever done for us?

@Paulie: Hang on just one second there, pal. I admittedly don't know anything about The Stand, but just what would Sora - fricken Messianic Sora - be doing on the side of the villains? Especially since Jesse and James are pretty much Card Carrying Villains while Henry is a pacifist who would rather talk things out with everyone then actually let Terriermon fight? Unless it's a Chain Of Memories situation where the Big Bad's screwing with people's heads and Has Kairi Captive, but that's a whole other ball of wax.

Iaculus: Generally, Link just did two things at once - he said something, accompanied by an action. As for the other bit, I will take that under advisement.

I've always been of the opinion Said Bookism is an easy excuse for lazy writing relying on the word "said" all the time.

Then again, I was raised in Spanish, and Spanish prose seems to avert more the abuse of "dijo" and "dijeron" (our equivalents to "said") all the time,

Two more things, then - first off, can I ask why you hate Kingdom Hearts? Have you even given at least the first game an honest try? I'm not trying to pick a fight here, I'm honestly curious.

Secondly, why are you including something that you hate?

And thirdly, just because you hate something doesn't mean you should make them a downright villain. You need to have some reason to make them a villain! Preferably one that's in-universe. Maybe he's brainwashed?

[up][up]I find the games boring, overrated, and the fandom full of pretentious weaboos. Plus I can't take anything serious if it has Disney in it.

[up]There IS a plot reason, Sora is under the influence of Randall Flagg. And a LOT of bad stuff happens to him.

Alright. You're clear by me then.

[up][up][up]Exactly! I'm not the biggest fan of, say, Professor Layton, but I wouldn't make him a villain unless he were a Pelagian Villain (in the vein of Sophitia Alexandra) - more probably, a Hero Antagonist.

[up][up]Including Pirates Of The Caribbean? How many of the games have you actually played? Chain of Memories, Days, and Coded aren't nearly as engaging as the original Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, or Birth By Sleep. On some level, I can understand the overrated point. I find that Final Fantasy VII, for instance, doesn't deserve as much hype as it gets. Granted, I still think that it is a great game, I just think that a good amount of its hype should go to Final Fantasy VIII instead. I just dearly hope you're not using this as an excuse to bash Sora.

Plus I can't take anything serious if it has Square Original Character Bishonen in it.

I fixed it for you.

But Sora doesn't even QUALIFY for bishonen!

If the problem is Riku and/or Ansem, just pretend they're Kain and Zeromus. If it's Organization XIII, then Xemnas is a more stoic Exdeath, Larxene is a gender-flipped, more down-to-earth Kefka, Luxord is a blonde Xanatos wanna-be, Marluxia is Emperor Mateus, Xigbar, Xaldin, Lexaeus, and Roxas aren't really Bishonen, Axel is Shadow with Chronic Backstabbing Disorder, and as soon as I think of a way to make Demyx, Zexion, and Saix less Original Generation for you I'll do that.

I always view Axel as an orphanage-burning sociopath, personally. [lol]

So my girlfriend had this idea a few years back, which she called "Blazing Cameos". Basically, Fire Emblem 7, but with the cast replaced by characters from other media.

She hasn't touched it since, and as we were talking about it the other day, I had the idea to take the premise and apply it to Fire Emblem 4. So now, I bring you Cameos of the Holy War.

Only have five characters casted, though.

Note that Crack Pairing will occasionally run rampant.

Generation 1:

Generation 2:

  • Johan and Johalva: The older brother will be Kamina, the younger one will be either Simon or Kittan.
  • Lackche *: Yoko.

And I chose those three specifically because of how tragic it could potentially be. Heck, maybe even moreso if we use DOUBLE K.

Suddenly having an idea of a Super Robot Wars fic that has the usual series/franchises in the Real/Super Robots category, but it also has other non-Japanese Real/Super Robot shows/franchises from Korea all the way to North America and maybe Europe.

[up]Only one that comes to mind is Megas XLR unless we count the Transformers Film Series. And maybe Symbionic Titan, but I never actually watched that.

<Beat>

Hang on a second. Given that they have Humongous Mecha which are often Super Robot.... are Super Sentai and/or Power Rangers eligible for that? I know that haven't shown up in SRW proper, but since it's a fanfic crossover....

Sentai/Power Rangers are considered as Super Robots. It's in the Super Robot genre page.

I'd say the same goes with most of the Iron Man franchise. And then there's a short Marvel comic called Shogun Warriors.

Though I'm trying to get Taekwon V DVDs to watch an Asian Super Robot movie.

I know that Super Sentai and Power Rangers are Super Robot, but because they're live-action, I wasn't sure if they were eligible for the crossover.

I'm not sure if Iron Man counts due to it being Powered Armor.

Hang on, just remembered XJ9 from My Life As A Teenaged Robot.

One can make the argument for it.

Heck, I know one of the SRW characters is just some dude wearing armor.

I guess DyNAMO can qualify for a Super Robot. Been a while since I saw it in action. I'm still doing research on what non-Japanese Super Robot/Real Robot series/franchises can be considered.

Meantime, I created a SRW fanfic thread here.

Well looking around for potential Super/Real Robot stuff, there's Del Toro's Pacific Rim.

Then again, I'll just hold it off since I don't know the details.

Now looking at Captain Nemesis from the Ben 10 series...

As long as I'm pimping, I present to you Nanoha Takamachi of Krypton, a ripoff of Takamachi Nanoha of 2814 wherein Nanoha is also Kryptonian. Most of the plot will be Lyrical Nanoha-based, but I plan on doing some original stuff too.

Current list of powers Nanoha will have, in addition to Midchildan-style magic note
