Western Animation / The Fairly OddParents
aka: The Fairly Oddparents

"I'm Cosmo!"
"I'm Wanda!"
"And weeeeeee're... your fairy godparents!"

And... this is where I'd put my description of The Fairly OddParents... IF I HAD ONE!

The Fairly OddParents is a hyperactive animated series about a little boy named Timmy Turner and his fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. Started in 2001, and is the 13th entry in the Nicktoons series.

In most episodes, Timmy uses Cosmo and Wanda's magic to deal with some mundane problem. Inevitably, things spiral rapidly out of control: whether it's getting his dad a cooler job, or dealing with one of his many everyday enemies. These include school bully Francis, sadistic and manipulative babysitter Vicky, and fairy-obsessed Sadist Teacher Mr. Crocker. And then there are the episodes where Timmy somehow gets entangled in Fairy World politics.

Needless to say, even Timmy's more sensible wishes are twisted to gigantic extremes and backfire horribly, forcing Timmy to hit the Reset Button and accept his horrible life.

The show is currently Nickelodeon's second longest running franchise, and notably one of the channel's most successful shows that has not been picked up for a theatrical movie. One was planned by Paramount Pictures along with Nickelodeon Movies, but was dropped due to a management change. Besides this, there have been multiple TV movies and special episodes released.

A live-action movie, A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, starring Drake Bell as a 23-year-old Timmy who somehow still has Cosmo and Wanda aired on July 9, 2011. Its premise is Timmy deciding whether to "grow up" and have a life with the now-beautiful Tootie, or stay with Cosmo and Wanda. At Nick Upfront 2012, sequel to this movie titled A Fairly Odd Christmas was announced, along with a ninth season of the animated series. A third live-action movie, titled A Fairly Odd Summer, was aired in Saturday, August 2 of 2014 at 8pm.

Since the series premiere, two more main characters have been added on to the initial trio: Cosmo and Wanda's fairy baby Poof and their fairy dog Sparky.

A tenth season of The Fairly OddParents was officially announced on August 18, 2015, and was aired Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at Nickelodeon. The new season introduces a new female character that is Timmy's new neighbor named Chloe Carmichael, who Timmy will have to share his fairies with.

The first 69 episodes are legally available on YouTube for free.
