Basic Trope: The traits of and/or knowledge a person has of general facts stored in their head/something about to occur in real time is entailed by them using a long list of synonyms or tacky equivalencies.
- Straight: Bob is being endlessly pursued by Ross, and describes to his Token Good Teammate friends, the only people who treat him well and are willing to listen, about how Bob plans to "pull up his pants over his head, stuff his underwear with his ears, face, nose and hair, and wrap him up in a large piece of cloth that's meant for his shriveled, undersized nerd-butt.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob is being endlessly pursued by Ross, and describes to his friends how they're willing to listen to him, how they get him like no one else does, how they've always looked out for him, how they have each other's backs, how they've been together for so long, how each moment seems to be one in which he can count on them, how he very obviously needs them more than they need him, how much thought they put into helping him, how sincere they seem to be in helping him, how their presence is all the proof he needs of them being such great help, then finally goes on to describe how Bob plans to give him a "painful, stretchy, clothy, abusive, embarrassing, dreaded, bad, no-good, disgraceful, ugly-looking" underwear-pull that involves his underwear, which he's wearing right now, in his pants, that are on his legs, which cover said legs.
- Bob is being endlessly pursued by Ross, who taunts him over the fact that he's going to give him "the mother of all pants-pulling, with a side order of underwear, not including the actual 'mother' since she doesn't exist but is just a figure of speech meant for dramatic effect, stretched all the way from your butt to my hands, with heavy, heavy, heavy, very heavy clinging."
- Downplayed:
- Bob is being endlessly pursued by Ross, and describes to his friends, whom he calls "the trustworthy ones", about how Ross plans to give him a wedgie that's "anything but what I just said."

- Bob and Ross have known each other long enough that Ross' bullying doesn't really scare the former that much anymore, but it still takes an emotional toll on him, so he's just trying to pour his heart out to his friends about how much they mean to him.
- Ross has been chasing Bob for well over an hour, and is starting to get sweaty and tired, causing him to slur his words and reiterate his points as he tries to look for Bob.
- Ross is on another drunken rampage.
- Ross underwent a couple tracheotomies in the past and has an overly literal voice synthesiser.
- Ross is trying to overplay his verbal abuse to an absurd degree so that no one can actually take him seriously.
- Inverted:
- Ross taunts Bob over the doctor that examined his visible intoeing as "the real crackpot whose reigning champ sons need museography as the fourth-emergency service, so it will be given to them by you, right when your myoclonus reaches an apex because of my fist raising your tighty-whities over your head, or, more ideally, on the Balm of Gilead that many a flagpole has tampered with in order to satisfy the most depraved motherfuckers out there."
- Ross is none-too-specific, almost always only menacing.
- Bob says less and less overtime as Ross chases him.
- Bob and Ross are constantly interrupting each other in a variety of amusing ways.

- Subverted:
- Bob hesitates like he's about to repeat himself, but he was just calling Ross "A ticking time bomb that smells funny."
- Bob says "Wait! Wait?", but refuses to elaborate.
- Ross remarks that "this particular wedgie is not like many wedgies, in that its stretching, or 'pulling', if you will, is..." before pulling a Kegel exerciser that he stole from the Young Women's Christian Association.
- Ross accidentally calls Bob a "girly manskirt-enthusiast", before just calling him a "girly...pantser enthusiast, that is. Sorry, I always mix the two up."
- While minute, this time the two phrasings do have a difference in meaning.
- Double Subverted:
- Ross taunts Bob for the silliness of the phrase "A ticking time bomb that smells funny" and cites it as being some stupid Madness Mantra, before Bob says "I'll have you know my Madness Mantra is actually 'I'm going to do fine, fly high in life, and use my flying high in life to inspire me to fly to find someone who can be the wind beneath my wings beneath me doing fine!'"
- Bob was saying "Wait! Wait?" over a walkie-talkie to check if there were any batteries left, and keeps doing that in reverse-order every other time he says it.
- "...Where the hell did I get this thing?!"
- Parodied:
- Any time Bob or Ross repeat something, they sing it at the top of their lungs just so people can clearly hear what they said, complete with the occasional Stunt Double in case they can't sing that day.
- Bob avoids prepositions in his speech like the plague, to the point that when he says "I'm getting a wedgie for the billionth time today, which I don't know how I couldn't see coming again" instead of "I'm getting wedgies involving the unbearable stretching in a new occurrence, one occurrence away before being an occurrence I actually saw coming", he jumps into Ross' mouth, suffocating him in the process, in order to be able to hide from the latter coming near him without risking him hearing something "normal" coming from him since he's convinced that'll just make him appear out of thin air. Immediately after this exposition, Ross drops dead from the blockage to his throat. After confirming that Ross is truly dead, Bob goes back to using redundancy like nothing happened.
- Bob has his own theme music, which functions as an "I Am" Song, which evolves into a Theme Music Power-Up every time he tries to outfight or outwit Ross that states "I am the Moon, hard as rock... come on, guys, you're background singers, you're supposed to make this an Expository Theme Tune by singing in the background a la those Spaghetti-Western Pastiches!" before they say "Oh yeah" and start "singing" "He is the moon, hard. as. ROCK."
- Zig-Zagged:
- Ross moonlights as a mysterious vigilante, and only repeats unnecessary information about himself or situations he's in when he's Clark Kenting, since he has Contractual Genre Blindness about revealing his identity.
- Bob has echolalia that he's stated in-universe to have learned to control, but still repeats variations of single words or phrases from other people note for reasons that even he's not entirely sure of.
- Averted:
- None of the titles for the work or any characters in-universe are repetitive.
- While unintentional redundancy slips by on occasion due to the overall show being Narm Charm and Throw It In! based, especially for Bob and Ross, the two premier comic relief characters, certain word Hurricanes are in the script, but never in the work itself, as it comes to close to being annoying repetition even if it doesn't entirely fit the bill.
- Enforced:
- "Redundancy is a good pairing to alliterated titles and names of characters, so we should take a crack at it from time to time."

- The reason Ross torments Bob like this all the time is so that he can hear him make an ass out of himself with weird elaboration in the same way every time, so that others will be prompted to turn their heads, and Bob will get a headstart by being able whisper to one of them that it's another "Code White."
- Bob is the Class Clown, but also secretly wants to be a journalist, and is experimenting with ways to combine the two...but he hasn't found a way to stop Ross from his usual bullying shenanigans, leading him to avert How We Got Here in favor of using his charisma instead and hoping it pairs well with his rambling. Since he has enough skills to be a journalist anyway, he'll sometimes put newspaper articles that he had cut out in his free time in his undies to thwart Ross, but he isn't creative enough to find ways to keep implementing it enough to be all charisma and zero "ramble on."
- Defied:
- The one place Bob won't engage in verbal redundancy is laser tag, which he feels too old to get back into, but he remembers that the reason for that was because of the inherent simplicity of the game and the need to hide from other opponents, leading to him hiding from Bob out of pragmatism, then approaching his friends when he feels ready, regardless of whether or not he stands up to Ross in the end.
- Ross is against picking on people with stutters or a tendency to be as imprecise as possible while still giving away tons of info since he feels that he's just exacerbating their problems and the stereotypical tendency that those traits lead to harassment from their peers throughout their youths. Thus, said people grow enough confidence without Ross constantly being an interference that they overcome any and all redundancy.
- Ross clears his throat to get people's attention, but only when he thinks whatever he's going to say next is clear and concise.
- Discussed: "People who repeat themselves like those super valuable bobbleheads in Milwaukee should be drug out onto the street and shot."
- Conversed: "Look at those clowns at it again with their daily Argument of Contradictions that eventually just becomes four equivalent phrases after the other in a perfect pattern."
- Deconstructed:
- Ross, who has a rough home life, comes home one day and hands his parents a note from detention where the monitor asked him to elaborate on what he was there for, as whichever teacher's class he was in at that time made it unclear. She copied what he told her verbatim, and after showing the note to his parents, which said he was "a rotten, lazy student who is constantly sloppy, lazy, vindictive, rude to other students, rotten, disruptive, sloppy, rotten, vindictive and constantly rude," his parents think he's pulling another trick on them and force him to sleep outside, locking him out and threatening to drench all of his remaining clothes in kerosene that they already put in the washing machine so he doesn't try to sneak in through a window.
- Bob, who has met many a Drill Sergeant Nasty that spent 99% of their time yelling and repeating different variations of derogatory nicknames and dressing downs, ends up adopting the same nasty traits, leading him getting treated like a leper and eventually getting sent to a military school, which is actually the only place he feels like he fits in at all.
- Reconstructed:
- Ross was playing a genuine trick on his parents, and the stuff about the kerosene-dunked clothes and being locked outside was something Bob had taunted him about in the past by stating that it would, case in point, "be a surefire way and a new method to lock you bullies into place and drench all of your remaining clothes in kerosene that they actually already put into the washing machine, so that they're actually locked into place under the threat, and can never escape unless the kerosene completely submerged the washing machine that submerged the clothes that submerges your dignity." Genuinely scared by this, Ross never really let it go, but it didn't throw him off the pattern of being indiscriminately redundant, especially since he didn't pick up on the fact that Bob was playing a trick on him by making fun of said redundancy.
- Bob still encounters Drill Sergeant Nasties in military school, but they don't use Department of Redundancy Department unless they're giving one of their students a Secret Test of Character, something that Bob is actually looking forward to as it'll help him find a relatable ground of sorts in regards to his manner of speech.
- Played For Laughs: Bob goes to a grocery store telling people working there that he's looking specifically for "One tomato next to over a hundred other tomatoes in a large bin that looks like an empty bin except with tomatoes in it". Predictably, they look at him like he's nuts, but he eventually does find a bin marked with that exact phrase by a fellow store patron, who may or may not have written it with actual permission.
