His tachyon device gets destroyed and he is stranded in the new world, after which he finds a new family in the Avengers.

The series was finished in September 2021, and consists of seven stories, as well as three one-shots:

    Works in the Series

  • "Torn between two earths": Goes AU after 3x07. • "Apocalypse of infinite earths": Final entry in the 'Two Earths' series. As Apocalypse rises to threaten the multiverse, the greatest heroes across the multiverse must stand united to confront him in a battle that will cost them more than they could ever imagine.

Tropes present in the series:

  • 10-Minute Retirement: Clint tries to retire from heroics many times, but it just never sticks.
  • Absence of Evidence: Barry narrows down three people he suspects as having betrayed Stark Industries, pointing out that all of them have a motive. But he also has no concrete proof of any of them being a traitor, which he also takes into consideration before sharing his suspicions.
  • Aborted Arc:
    • Originally there were supposed to be a few more stories to cover the Arrow side of things, but those were all dropped.
    • Cisco vibes Logan's death from the Logan movie, but nothing comes of it later.
  • Accidental Time Travel: Its revealed that when Barry runs through breaches into other worlds, he is also travelling through time without realizing it.
  • Action Girl: Quite a few of them here, a few examples being Wanda Maximoff, Natasha Romanoff, Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Earth-2 Laurel Lance, Sara Lance and Sif.
  • Actor Allusion: Barry takes on the alias of Sabastian Smith for an undercover mission he has to do for the Avengers.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change:
    • Instead of being a time remnant having been created to battle Savitar before turning into the God of Speed himself, Savitar is the actual future Barry Allen, having been driven insane by the Red Death and the loss of his teammates at the hands of the Savitar from before, making this a time loop in a way.
    • Alexei Shostakov's basic backstory is the same, but instead of Natasha having been his wife, she was promised to him. Instead of being shot and buried under molten lava, he is caught in an explosion caused by Clint's arrow, and then recruited by Savitar.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Barry Allen is a powerful speedster in the show, but here, hand-to-hand training from Steve and especially Natasha makes him a force to be reckoned with even without his powers.
    • Clint ends up getting the helmet of Nabu, turning him into Doctor Fate.
    • Pietro Maximoff is turned into Deadman after his passing, and later into the next Monitor after Mar-Novu is killed.
    • Alexei Shostakov is turned into the Psycho Pirate by Apocalypse.
    • The ones recruited by Apocalypse to be his Horsemen receive power boosts.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While Earth-2 Laurel eventually did become an ally of Team Arrow in canon, here she joins them much earlier.
  • Adaptational Karma: Thaddeus Ross, Smallville Lex Luthor and Marlize Devoe all face consequences for their actions in canon as well as this series.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Savitar wasn't stupid in canon by any means, but this version is almost a Chessmaster, staying ahead of the heroes not just due to his future knowledge but also mind games and other tricks he utilizes, like having Shostakov trick Pietro into working for him.
  • Adaptational Sympathy: Earth-2 Laurel is given a chance by Oliver much earlier, and shown some understanding by him and Thea, alongside Quentin, causing her to become an ally of the heroes much earlier than in canon.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Dinah Drake is recruited by Adrian Chase instead of Team Arrow.
    • Lawton decided to become Vigilante after he was thrown to the wolves even after his sacrifice.
  • Adaptation Name Change:
    • Earth-199999 is renamed to Earth-66 in this series.
    • Dinah Drake takes on the mantle of Lady Shiva instead of the Black Canary.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul:
    • While Earth-2 Laurel Lance eventually became an ally of Team Arrow in canon, here she joins them much earlier, during the fifth Season of Arrow.
    • Oliver and Sara were in a deep relationship in the show for a good while, before breaking up and remaining friends. But here, they get back together and are eventually married.
  • Adapted Out: Carol Danvers does not make a single appearance in the series, not even during the Infinity War, as she does not exist in this.
  • Affably Evil: Even when mind-controlled by Savitar, Leonard Snart retains his usual personality.
  • Afterlife Welcome:
    • After he passes on, Coulson is welcomed into the afterlife by Pepper.
    • Sara is welcomed into the afterlife by Quentin and Laurel after her passing.
  • And I Must Scream: The villains who are resurrected by Apocalypse are aware that they have no free will of their own, but there's nothing they can do about it.
  • Antagonist Title: The title of the final story in the series refers to its antagonist- Apocalypse.
  • Arch-Enemy:
    • Barry and Thawne are the biggest rivals, as expected.
    • Savitar can be considered this for Barry too, being his dark, insane and ruthless self from the future.
    • Alexei Shostakov is a rival to both Natasha and Clint due to their shared past, and his attempt on Clint's family. Can be considered one to Tony too as he is responsible for Pepper's death.
    • Hydra as a whole is Steve's rival, considering they keep popping up to make things worse for him and his friends at unexpected times.
    • Smallville Lex Luthor is the greatest rival of his version of Superman.
  • Attempted Rape: In a flashback, Earth-2 Harvey Dent attempts to rape Earth-2 Laurel, only to be stopped and killed by Logan.
  • Back for the Dead: Vigilante is revealed to be Floyd Lawton, who survived and lost his marbles completely, but he is killed by Earth-1 Frank Castle right after the identity reveal.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • Eobard Thawne brings forth time remnants of many villains, so that Thanos has a bigger army for the final showdown.
    • The Reverse-Flash returns twice, all so he can screw with Barry, which is his favorite hobby.
    • In the final story, Apocalypse resurrects various deceased villains to guard a Quantum Tower.
  • Badass Boast: Nick Fury sees that Frank Castle has his finger on his gun due to seeing him, and tells the Punisher that if he wanted him dead, Frank would never see him coming, so he can relax. This is what makes Frank remove his finger from the trigger.
  • Bad Future: The future timeline from which Freya Allen comes is bleak. Most of the heroes are dead, and the few that are not are barely holding it by a thread.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Even after learning to see everything in shades of grey, Barry is usually a nice guy, unless there is something that makes him really mad, like Tony's actions in the Civil War.
  • Big Badass Battle Sequence: The third, eighth and final stories have many of these, especially the climactic battles.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Barry arrives in his new suit just as Clint is about to be shot down, saving the archer's life.
    • Rhodes and Vision are overpowered by Glaive and Midnight, until Barry appears, saving Vision from being killed.
    • When the time remnant of Surtur starts causing havoc in the heroes' armies, Earth-38 Clark Kent arrives through a breach and yanks his crown off his head, ending him.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy:
    • Some of the heroes are whammied by the Dominators and the remaining ones have no choice but to fight them.
    • Savitar uses the Sceptre to mind-control various people into doing what he wants, examples being Snart, Bucky, McGee and Roy.
    • In the final story, Roy is once more influenced by Apocalypse, causing him to kill Mar-Novu.
    • Clark is temporarily controlled into fighting Thor by Psycho Pirate.
  • Brought Down to Badass: During the Prison Riot, Barry, who got himself incarcerated willingly, has no powers at all, and uses nothing but his hand-to-hand skills and his wits to hold his own against many of the supervillains.
  • Call-Back:
    • Before the final battle with Savitar begins, Steve, Tony, Natasha and Clint reiterate Fury's 'There was an idea' speech to remind themselves of what they had come together to do.
    • Raimiverse Peter narrates his classical origin story to Steve and Natasha when the two recruit him for the big battle.
    • In the final battle, Cisco reveals he can create intangible avatars of himself called Vibe-rages, and while practicing the move, he accidentally sent one to the time when Barry was still stranded on Earth-66. In the first story, Barry saw a see-through Cisco briefly while spending time with the Avengers, and a second later, Cisco was gone.
  • The Cameo:
    • Like in the MCU, Stan Lee has a good number of cameos, even giving the Helmet of Nabu to Clint.
    • During the prison battle, many villains from Marvel and DC make appearances, trying to fight Barry, Earth-1 Frank or Logan, and being defeated.
  • Canon Welding:
  • Cardboard Prison: Logan easily gets out of the ARGUS prison during the Prison Riot to fight the other prisoners. He was a prisoner of his own free will.
  • Character Development:
    • Barry Allen begins the series as a depressed man, finding himself unworthy of being the Flash due to the pain and suffering Flashpoint has caused. But eventually, with the Avengers, he becomes the hero he was once more, and under Steve's and especially Natasha's guidance, learns to see things in shades of grey.
    • Steve is a great hero and leader, but he eventually has to learn to step back, let the others do some work, and retire as well.
    • Caitlin is conflicted due to her Killer Frost persona, but eventually both the personalities learn to find harmony. And Caitlin also decides to do something for herself for once after Barry gives her some advice.
  • The Chessmaster:
    • Zemo is just as much of a threat due to his mind as he was in the movie.
    • Savitar turns the tables on the heroes multiple times, being ahead of them quite a bit, even taking advantage of Barry incarcerating himself.
    • Adrian Chase's mind games are as bad as they were in canon, but Earth-2 Laurel's presence on the good side does cause a wrench in some of his plans.
    • Apocalypse shows he is one too, having a mole amongst the heroes without them realizing it.
  • The Chosen Many: "Apocalypse of Infinite Earths" features twelve Paragons as opposed to the seven in canon; Barry Allen (Hope), Clint Barton (Destiny), Oliver Queen (Courage), Steve Rogers (Truth), Caitlin Snow (Humanity), Natasha Romanoff (Redemption), Thor Odinson (Honor), Logan (Resilience), Smallville Clark Kent (Heroism), DCEU Diana Prince (Love), Raimiverse Peter Parker (Resonsibility) and Freya Allen (Time).
  • The Chosen One: Barry Allen is supposed to be the one who saves everyone from the Apocalypse.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Barry is tortured brutally when he is a prisoner of Hydra, and he is also injected with the Red Death.
  • Combat Pragmatist:
    • Steve, Oliver and Natasha have exceptional fighting skills, experience and battle IQ, the final one even giving them an edge over some superpowered heroes. In the case of Oliver, it allows him to take Barry out before they can start fighting, after which Oliver sacrifices himself to get the Soul Stone.
    • Barry, after being trained by Steve and especially Natasha, learns to use his mind and fighting skills in battles, and not just his speed.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Barry sees in Wanda's eyes the same look he had after realizing what he'd done due to Flashpoint. Wanda has made a similar mistake by helping Ultron. This, and Pietro's coma, brings them together as eventually, they enter a relationship and get married with a daughter.
    • Oliver and Earth-2 Laurel see a lot of themselves in each other rather than their doppelgangers.
    • Averted; Vigilante says he and Earth-1 Frank Castle are alike, only to be shut down real fast when Frank points out he does not kill innocents and dismiss them as collateral damage.
    • Caitlin uses her former conflict with Killer Frost to advice Bruce Banner to make peace with the Hulk.
    • Averted again; Thanos seems to think he and Frank Castle are exactly the same. He couldn't be more wrong.
  • Continuity Overlap: Torn between two earths and A love of two earths overlap quite a bit, with some plot points of one story being referenced in another. The ending of the second last chapter of the former even sets up the finale of the latter.
  • Convenient Coma: Pietro survives Ultron's attack but is in a coma for most of the story after that.
  • Crapsack World:
    • Earth-2 is one for the meta-humans, as they're considered less than human there.
    • The bleak future from which Freya Allen comes is close to being one. Most of the heroes are dead, leaving very few broken heroes to fight the bad guys.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Barry overpowers Cindy quickly using his speed, with her unable to do a thing.
    • Once he gets his powers back, Barry defeats Alexei Shostakov with no effort at all.
    • Midnight has every advantage over Barry except one- speed. And because of that, she does not last long in combat against him.
  • Deal with the Devil:
    • Barry and Wally are forced to make a truce with Savitar when his machine goes nuclear and endangers the city, the three speedsters being the only ones who can stop it.
    • Merlin made one with Mephisto in the past, that eventually turned him into Apocalypse.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Pepper Potts is killed in an accident caused by Alexei Shostakov, forcing the Avengers to come together again.
    • Savitar ends up killing Julian Albert and planting a bomb near his body.
    • Logan chops off the head of the evil Dinah Drake in the Lian Yu battle.
    • Nebula is the one who snaps her fingers in Tony's place.
    • Its confirmed that Ralph Dibny is dead in the main timeline even after Flashpoint.
    • As the Season 11 comics of Smallville are not canon in this series, Tess Mercer remains dead.
    • Sara starts dying because after being resurrected by a Lazarus Pit, occasional dips every now and then are required to keep the new life it granted, which Sara never did.
  • Demoted to Extra: Barry never rejoins the CCPD here even after Julian's offer, reducing Julian's appearances in the story by a lot.
  • Did Not See That Coming:
    • There are three people Barry suspects as having betrayed Stark Industries, especially since they also have the motive. But, the actual traitor turns out to be his assistant Cindy, who is also part of Hydra.
    • Oliver wants to get back together with Sara and, to everyone's surprise, its Earth-2 Laurel who helps the two of them get together again.
    • Doctor Fate is revealed to be future Clint Barton, which no one saw coming.
    • Adrian Chase certainly didn't expect that he'd end up being nothing but a body to be possessed by Eobard Thawne for Apocalypse.
  • Died Happily Ever After: Sara starts dying because after being resurrected by a Lazarus Pit, occasional dips every now and then are required to keep the new life it granted, which Sara never did. However, after death, Sara is welcomed into the afterlife by Quentin and Laurel, and reunites with Oliver at last.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation:
    • Instead of taking Iris' place, H.R. Wells is shot by Bucky whom Savitar has brainwashed again using the Sceptre.
    • Pietro is not killed by Ultron's attack, instead, he dies trying to save some cops of Central City from the building collapsing on them due to Savitar's bomb.
    • Adrian Chase fails to kill himself at Lian Yu. Instead, he dies when Thawne takes over his body for Apocalypse.
    • Savitar is not shot by Iris West. Instead, he is erased by the Black Flash, and later killed again when Barry brings down Mjolnir on his head.
    • Instead of dying against the Anti-Monitor, Oliver dies by sacrificing himself to get the Soul Stone.
  • Doppelgänger: A few doppelgangers feature, due to the Arrowverse.
  • Doppelgänger Gets Same Sentiment:
    • Oliver, Thea and Quentin all try to see a glimpse of their Laurel in the Earth-2 version, and succeed to some extent.
    • Barry feels a little upset when Jay Garrick tells him that his father would have been proud of him, due to the veteran speedster being his deceased father's doppelganger.
    • Earth-2 Laurel does not like Felicity because she was tortured and experimented on by her Earth-2 doppelganger for Hydra in the past.
    • When Barry meets the MCU Frank Castle, they end up having a conversation after Barry tells him that he met his Earth-1 version.
    • Mar-Novu sends Logan to the Earth-66 X-Mansion, where he meets the Earth-66 X-Men. This is all to remind him who he is fighting for.
    • Future Barry is reminded of his own Logan on meeting the Earth-66 version.
  • The Dreaded: Apocalypse is feared by all, especially Thor, due to what he is capable of.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Apocalypse deems Adrian Chase too insane to be of any use to him, only using him as a vessel for Thawne to take over.
  • Evil Counterpart: Barry has one, in Savitar of course.
  • Evil Is Petty: Alexei Shostakov tries to kill Clint's family with a bomb due to his grudge against the archer.
  • Face–Heel Turn:
    • Felicity is incensed by Earth-2 Laurel, considering her the reason why Oliver does not trust her anymore, and eventually, her actions lead Helix to leak evidence of Earth-2 Laurel's accidental killing of Billy, which is the final straw for the team in regards to her.
    • Savitar injects Caitlin with something that makes her transform into Killer Frost, turning her against the rest of the team.
  • Family of Choice: When Barry realizes he does not have the means to return to his world, his accepts his place amongst the Avengers, considering them a second family.
  • Flashback:
    • How Team Flash figured out where Barry is, is shown via a flashback chapter.
    • Earth-2 Laurel's backstory is seen in flashbacks.
    • What happened to everyone else in One last run is shown through flashbacks too.
    • The origin of Apocalypse is shown via a flashback as well, albeit one the heroes can see.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The Mind Stone in Vision's forehead is struck by speedster lightning, causing Vision to have flashes of events, all of which come to pass in the near future.
    • Doctor Fate tells Barry that he will face his greatest nemesis in Thawne and prevail over him. He does just that.
    • Matt Murdock is told by Doctor Fate that he will find what makes him whole again very soon. At the end of the story, he reunites with a still-alive Elektra.
    • Samantha tells Oliver that if he keeps the hero gig up, one day, his son will lose his father. Oliver sacrifices himself for the Soul Stone in the last story.
    • Cisco vibes the heroes of the future who're the children of the current heroes. These heroes later make an appearance when some of the characters time-travel to the future.
    • When some of the heroes, including Oliver, go to the future, his daughter Mia wants to tell him some things, and even hugs him tightly. Its because he died in the battle against Apocalypse, and wasn't there to see her grow up.
    • Clint is hesitant to send Oliver and Barry to get the power source for the Quantum Tower purifier, and even shows sadness after sending them both there. Turns out the power source is the Soul Stone, and Oliver ends up sacrificing himself for it.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Barry going on a run due to being emotionally overwhelmed by Flashpoint causes him to run to the MCU world, be part of the Avengers, and change many things in both worlds. This is proven further when he ends up in the canonical timeline during the fourth Season, realizing him not going on a run is why things did not change here.
  • Friendly Enemy: Barry and Snart hold no animosity towards each other for what happened in the past, with Snart even advising Barry to not give in to his ruthless side, lest he become Savitar.
  • Friendly Ghost: Pietro becomes Deadman and retains all his usual characteristics.
  • Fusion Fic:
  • Green-Eyed Monster:
    • Iris is very jealous of Barry's relationship with Wanda, constantly trying to tell Wanda to leave, and even taking her anger out on the rest of the Avengers. Joe calling her out over this is what finally stops Iris and makes her realize how horrible she has been.
    • Felicity's dislike of Earth-2 Laurel is due to her believing the woman to be the reason Oliver does not trust her anymore, as well as the moments they share.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Apocalypse is the most dangerous enemy the heroes face, and no one comes out unscathed.
  • Happy Ending Override:
    • The first and second stories both seem to have happy endings to the entire deal, only for the third one to show the happy endings were not permanent.
    • Similarly, the third story also has a perfectly happy ending, but the sequel shows that the happy ending was just a reprieve.
  • Heartbroken Badass:
    • At the start of the series, Barry is very depressed due to the suffering Flashpoint brought upon his friends, and believes himself unworthy of being the Flash.
    • Tony Stark loses it after the death of Pepper Potts, and is simply going through the motions since then, for a long while.
    • Roy is very torn up by what Savitar made him do while controlling him.
    • The future Barry Allen does his best to lead the remaining heroes, but he is still haunted by his failures and the deaths of almost everyone close to him.
    • In the future, Bobbi Morse is completely broken after Lance Hunter's death, becoming a very brutal and killer vigilante, unlike who she used to be.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • Earth-2 Laurel is shown some understanding and kindness much earlier by people outside of Quentin, and given a chance by Oliver after Barry tells him of her, causing her to join the heroes much earlier.
    • Steve manages to reach out to Killer Frost, making her turn against Savitar.
    • The time remnant of Loki finds out what becomes of him in the future, as well as how his relationship with Thor turns out, causing him to turn against the other villains.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Pietro Maximoff sacrifices himself to save some Central City cops from being killed by the collapsing building.
    • It is Nebula who does the snap to end Thanos and the other villains.
    • In the final story, Oliver Queen ends up giving up his own life in exchange for the Soul Stone.
  • Hidden Villain: Barry's assistant Cindy was the traitor all along, and not the three people previously suspected.
  • Hypocrite: The Legends are all called out by Oliver and the Avengers for ragging on Barry over Flashpoint, considering the mistakes they themselves make almost all the time.
  • Inspired by…:
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Mar-Novu justifies all his tests as a necessary evil.
  • In Spite of a Nail: In spite of Barry and Cisco aiding the Avengers, Thanos still ends up snapping his fingers and killing half of all life.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While he is quite harsh about it, Roy's reasons for wanting to break up with Thea are not invalid either.
  • Karma Houdini:
    • Averted with Malcolm, who is finally slain by Oliver for the pain and suffering he has caused.
    • Also averted with Thaddeus Ross, Smallville Lex and Marlize Devoe, who are all defeated and punished for their actions in canon as well as this series.
  • Killed Off for Real:
    • Pepper dies in an accident caused by Alexei Shostakov.
    • HR Wells is killed when Bucky, whom Savitar has brainwashed using the Sceptre, shoots him.
    • Pietro sacrifices himself to save some of the CCPD from the collapsing building. But he does return later as Deadman.
    • The Infinity War claims the lives of Loki, Gamora, Vision and Nebula. Coulson also dies when the Ghost Rider incident catches up with him.
    • In the final story, Oliver sacrifices himself for the Soul Stone.
  • Killed Offscreen: Gamora's death is not shown, but it is confirmed that she died. In the last story, Pietro, with his Monitor powers, frees hers and Oliver's spirit from the Soul Stone, allowing both of them to have peaceful afterlives.
  • Lighter and Softer: The one-shots are not dark, and are usually light in tone, just showing certain snippets or important moments from the lives of the heroes. The exception is Afterlife reunion.
  • Love at First Sight: Not exactly, but Barry and Wanda do form a connection even during their first meeting.
  • The Man Behind the Man:
    • Mr. Mxyzptlk sent Barry to the canon timeline as a test set up by Mar-Novu.
    • Thanos found out about the Infinity Stones because Mar-Novu told him, as a test for the heroes.
    • Apocalypse is behind Hydra's latest attempt at the heroes in Attack on two earths.
    • Its revealed that Apocalypse planted the idea of joining the Multiverse in Savitar's head.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The series is mainly a crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Arrowverse, with some elements of the X-Men Film Series, but the final story also ends up involving Smallville, DC Extended Universe and the Raimiverse Spider-Man Trilogy.
  • The Mentor:
    • Steve and especially Natasha take on this role for Barry, teaching him hand-to-hand skills, and some other things, so that he does not have to rely on only his speed.
    • Logan is this for Earth-2 Laurel.
  • Mood Whiplash: The scene where Tony is given the news of Pepper's death is followed up by a scene of Barry and Clint attempting to make a crib on Earth-1, finding the task tougher than their superhero jobs.
  • The Multiverse: Pretty much a given, since the Arrowverse is involved.
  • Mundane Solution: Doctor Strange defeats Devoe by opening a portal underneath him, making him fall forever.
  • Myth Arc: Torn between two timelines starts building up the main arc for the rest of the series, which reaches its resolution in the final story.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Earth-199999 is renamed to Earth-66 as a reference to Earth-616, the official designation of the mainstream Marvel comics Universe.
    • Steve, Bucky and Logan seem to find each others' faces very familiar. At the end, Logan quips he must have one of those faces.
    • Tony ends up joining the Guardians of the Galaxy briefly.
  • Never Say That Again: Thea is very patient with Earth-2 Laurel, but when Black Siren insults her doppelganger, Thea tells her to not do that again, or they'd have a problem.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Killer Frost, after her Heel–Face Turn, fires an icicle at Savitar's machine to stop it. This makes the machine go nuclear instead.
    • Its revealed that the destruction of the Oculus is what freed Apocalypse from his imprisonment.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: While this is done out of a sense of self-preservation, Savitar does help Barry and Wally in stopping his machine from going nuclear and destroying Central City, as the results of that would be disastrous for all of them.
  • Not So Stoic:
    • Natasha breaks down in Steve's arms after they come out of the Dominators' Dream World, since she had been pregnant in there. Steve assures her than even if she wasn't pregnant, her feelings about it were real.
    • After Oliver's death, Sara tries to stay strong about it. Its Logan who tells her she does not need to be strong all the time. A while later, her wail of grief is heard.
  • Not Quite Dead:
    • Floyd Lawton had been alive all this time, being rebuilt by Hive, and having been thrown to the wolves in spite of his Heroic Sacrifice makes him turn into Vigilante.
    • At the end of Crisis on two earths, Matt Murdock reunites with Elektra, who survived but was heavily wounded.
  • Offscreen Inertia:
    • Steve and the other Secret Avengers couldn't make it to Barry's and Wanda's wedding due to dealing with an illegal weapons selling ring.
    • The Elseworlds event is not shown, but its mentioned that Oliver's and Barry's bodies were switched, and J'onn's ordeals with Malefic are also mentioned, but these events do not happen on-screen.
  • One-Steve Limit: Avoided; while various doppelgangers appear in the series, none of them are at the same place at the same time, whether it is the Punishers, Spider-Men, Oliver Queens, Supermen or X-Men, making it easier for the readers to follow along. Its only ever brought up when Clint and his future self who is Doctor Fate are at the same place at the same time.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Mjolnir makes appearances throughout the series, and the fact that only the ones deemed worthy can wield it is mentioned multiple times. Outside of Thor himself, its shown that Barry Allen is worthy of wielding the hammer, as is Steve Rogers, like in canon. Smallville Clark is also worthy of it, picking it up to prove he is who Thor and Kara were looking for. However, Kara Danvers is not worthy of the hammer due to her self-righteousness and ego issues.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Barry is so angered by Tony's actions in the Civil War that when he gets out of the Raft, he punches the man and puts his vibrating hand near his chest as a threat.
    • When Coulson meets Bobbi again after the Snap, he notes how her voice lacks its usual energy, clearly due to the loss of Lance Hunter.
  • Original Character: Some of the children of the heroes are original characters created for the series, the most prominent one being Freya Allen, Barry's and Wanda's daughter.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: The Barry Allen of this series is very annoyed by his canonical version, finding him to be a weak-willed puppy who cannot do anything without Iris' approval. And to be fair to him, he is proven right multiple times. He even gets angry on finding out this Barry let Thawne go, and gives him a massive calling out for doing something this stupid.
  • Parental Substitute: Clint is like a father to Wanda, and she is an unofficial part of the Barton family.
  • Patchwork Fic: The first story adapts bits from The Flash Season 3, but also takes a few elements from the following Season.
  • Pet the Dog: Earth-1 Frank Castle agrees to help Oliver against Adrian Chase on finding out Chase abducted Oliver's son. Later, he also refrains from shooting Evelyn in front of JJ, seeing the little kid is very traumatized.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Savitar is an insane psychopath, but when his machine goes nuclear, he calls a truce with Barry and Wally to stop the explosion, as that would have disastrous consequences for everyone.
  • Pregnant Badass: Even pregnant, Wanda is a force to be reckoned with, defeating and scaring many villains with her powers, and also taking out the bomb of the Dominators that was supposed to kill all meta-humans.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Barry is very angered by Tony's actions in the Civil War. When he comes out of the raft, he punches Tony and puts his vibrating hand near his chest as a threat. This is his response to Tony trying to justify himself:
"Bull crap! This isn’t about doing the right thing, this is about Ultron! You can’t face your own guilt for that, so you’re trying to make yourself feel better however you can. And you don’t care if you bring The Avengers down with you."
    • Thor gives one to Hela's time remnant, pointing out that she just does not want to change in life.
  • Red Herring:
    • Cisco has a vibe of Savitar killing Wanda and her unborn child, with some other Avengers also lying dead nearby. But when Savitar finally reveals himself, he says he has moved past that plan, and it was just what happened to him. His actual plan is very different from what Cisco saw.
    • Apocalypse frees Adrian Chase, and it genuinely looks like Adrian will end up being his Horseman of Death, since his body is even prepped for it. Turns out Adrian was simply going to be used as a vessel to resurrect Thawne, the true Horseman of Death.
    • Mar-Novu tells Logan to go to the X-Mansion of Earth-66, as he'll find the Paragon of Resilience there. They meet Earth-66 Magneto who, in the now erased bleak future, had killed Barry Allen. Everyone wonders how he can be the Paragon, but he himself says that he is not it. Logan also meets the Earth-66 X-Men, and when he and Barry return, Mar-Novu reveals Logan was the Paragon of Resilience all along. He was sent to the Earth-66 X-Mansion to be reminded who he is fighting for.
  • Redemption Quest:
    • Black Siren is on one, to make up for the sins she has committed under Zoom.
    • After what he did in the Civil War, Tony has to work very hard to earn the trust of everyone else again.
    • The canonical Barry realizes he has been a horrible friend to Caitlin and Cisco, and start trying to make it right.
  • Retcon: One retcon is made in the series but acknowledged as well. While the Malcolm Merlyn and Alexei Shostakov killed by Nebula's snap in he third story were thought to be the present day versions of the two, its later revealed they were also time remnants, since the present day versions still live. But it makes perfect sense, since at the time of the third story, both of them were not dead, meaning the heroes could assume it was their present versions, but since the others were time remnants, them being time remnants as well makes sense.
  • The Reveal: Earth-2 Robert Queen reveals to Earth-2 Laurel, as well as Earth-2 Moira and Earth-2 Thea, that he killed Oliver because he felt his son was too weak to survive Lian Yu, which is in complete contrast to what happened on Earth-1. Black Siren is so enraged she kills Robert with her scream right on the spot.
  • Revisiting the Roots:
    • At the end of the series, Ray Palmer returns to Star City, saying its his home and he has stayed away for too long.
    • Logan returns to the X-Men of Earth-2 after everything is finished, because in his heart, he is always going to be one of them.
    • After the defeat of Apocalypse, Tony Stark finally returns to Earth.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It is not made clear if the original Savitar referenced by Savitar was also future Barry Allen, or someone else entirely.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Dinah Drake is on a vengeance quest against Sonus over Vincent Sobel. This allows Adrian Chase to corrupt her to the dark side.
  • Series Continuity Error: When the machine to connect Julian with Savitar is made, Barry notes that it reminds him of Cerebro from the X-Men movies. But later, its revealed that Earth-2 and Earth-66 both have the X-Men teams, meaning they are real on those Earths, but Barry's thoughts about this from before are not shown.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Small Role, Big Impact:
    • McGee is the one who makes a cure for the Red Death in Barry's system, and he uses it, thus avoiding his future insanity and descent into Savitar.
    • Coulson only makes a brief appearance in "Crisis on two earths" before the Ghost Rider incident catches up and kills him, but he spends that brief appearance ensuring that Fitz is motivated enough to create the new Infinity Gauntlet, directly leading to the restoration of the ones snapped away.
    • Stan Lee has many cameos in the series. In one of them, he ends up giving the Helmet of Nabu to Clint.
    • Mephisto is only mentioned, but his actions are responsible for the events of the final few stories.
  • Sole Survivor: In One last run, a combination of the snaps by Thanos and the actions of Thawne have led to the deaths of almost every hero. Out of the Avengers and Team Flash, Barry is the only one still alive.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • Since Adrian Chase is stopped from killing himself, Samantha Clayton survives.
    • Instead of Tony, it is Nebula who snaps her fingers to end Thanos once and for all, and due to the different way in which the Infinity Stones are recovered, Natasha survives as well.
    • While not shown directly, since its mentioned that the Season 11 comics of Smallville never happened here, that'd mean that Bart Allen is still alive.
  • Take That!:
    • Sam Wilson tells Barry to never watch The Last Jedi because its horrible.
    • Barry is given the alias Sabastian Schmidt for an undercover mission, and he says he sounds like a jerk.
  • Time Travel:
    • Freya Allen and Clint Barton from the future travel to the past to stop Thanos and Thawne, making sure their dark future never happens.
    • Thawne brings forth several time remnants of deceased villains for the final fight.
    • Barry is sent into the canonical timeline by Mr. Mxyzptlk.
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Barry Allen is worthy to wield Mjolnir. Having held it also gives him a boost permanently, making him much faster than he was before. Not to mention the hand-to-hand training given to him by Steve and Natasha makes him a much better combatant too.
    • Pietro Maximoff is given a device by Savitar to make him faster. Later, Cisco modifies it in a way that it increases his physical strength. In the final story, after Mar-Novu's death, he also becomes the next Monitor.
    • Clint Barton ends up finding the Helmet of Nabu, and turns into Doctor Fate.
  • Together in Death: At the end of the series, Oliver and Sara are together in the afterlife.
  • Tragic Villain: Black Siren ended up becoming a villain due to her circumstances.
  • Unsafe Haven: Barry ends up voluntarily going to an ARGUS prison so that Savitar does not find out the rest of the team's moves. But soon enough, Alexei Shostakov breaks into the prison and causes a Prison Riot.
  • Villain Team-Up:
    • In the first story, Savitar has Alexei Shostakov work for him.
    • Outside of his canonical allies, Adrian also has China White, Carrie Cutter, Liza Warner and the evil Dinah Drake work for him.
    • Thanos and Thawne team up to defeat the Avengers and Barry, and later Thawne also brings forth time remnants of many deceased villains.
    • Hydra works with Malcolm Merlyn and Alexei Shostakov, with all of them being under none other than Apocalypse.
    • Apocalypse turns Thaddeus Ross, Smallville Lex Luthor, Marlize Devoe and Eobard Thawne into his Horsemen, and also resurrects various deceased villains to guard the Quantum Tower.
  • Wake-Up Call:
    • Barry is imprisoned in the Raft briefly and muses how its actually better than his pipeline prison. After returning to Earth-1, he shuts the pipeline prison down due to its inhumane conditions.
    • When everyone starts ragging on Barry for Flashpoint during the Dominator Invasion, Sam Wilson snaps and tells them all that Barry had to beg Thawne to kill his mother again, horrifying Cisco who feels shame at how he has treated Barry.
    • Iris is given a calling out by Joe for how badly she has been treating Wanda and the Avengers simply because Barry is with Wanda. It works as well.
    • The canonical Barry realizes, after being called out by the main timeline Barry, that he has been a horrible friend to Caitlin and Cisco. A gentle breaking of the truth to him by Caitlin on his own request just reinforces that, after which he vows to do better.
    • Kara is unable to lift Mjolnir, which dents her ego. Later, after Oliver's Heroic Sacrifice, Kara says in self-loathing how he had no super powers and still did the right thing, while she simply lectures people about what she thinks is best for them, also saying she didn't really treat him like a friend. J'onn assures her that recognizing her flaws is a good first step.
  • Wedding Episode:
    • A wedding of two earths is a one-shot about the wedding of Barry and Wanda.
    • Attack on two earths starts like this, until Hydra interrupts.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist:
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • At the beginning of the series, Barry is disgusted at himself for Flashpoint and the suffering it has caused to his friends, finding himself unworthy of being the Flash, basically applying this trope to himself.
    • The Avengers are already surprised at Tony's actions in the Civil War, but him outing Clint's family (even if it was unintentional and careless on his part) is a huge shock to them.
    • Barry already does not like his canonical version due to how bad of a friend he is to Caitlin and Cisco, but him letting Thawne go is the final straw for him.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness:
    • When he doesn't need her anymore, Savitar has McGee try to kill herself and Barry in a suicidal bomb blast, though Barry saves her.
    • The only use that Apocalyse has for Adrian Chase is to make his body a vessel for Thawne to take over. Once Thawne does that, Adrian is pretty much dead.
  • You Killed My Father: Or rather, grandfather, in the case of Sinthea Schmidt, and robbed Hydra of what they truly deserved in her mind.
  • Your Magic's No Good Here: Thanos himself confirms that the Infinity Stones do not work outside their resident Universe.
