Exit Tunes

    Mayu

Mayu

Artwork for VOCALOID 3

The first Vocaloid devloped by Exit Tunes, Mayu is a Yandere-influenced Vocaloid. She was designed by Hidari.

  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her default design has her in a frilly sleeveless dress themed after a grand piano, with mary janes, High-Class Gloves and an equally frilly beret completing the look.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: The rabbit's name is Usano Mimi. It doubles as a microphone for her, and apparently she strangles it while she sings.
  • Girl with Psycho Weapon: She's quite the cutie, but she's often seen holding an axe.
  • Sixth Ranger: In EXIT TUNES compilations of Vocaloid songs, Mayu will rarely have a song just to herself and will often be part of the chorus of one of the original group songs. It's been this way ever since she made her first appearance on the Vocalo series of compilation albums.
  • Yandere: Is said to be one via Word of God, and thus many of her most popular songs portray her as such.
  • Womanchild: In Uso to Nuigurumi, she acts like this, taking a plush animal for a real friend she can talk to, and she also says that acting like an adult is tiresome and she hates it.

Ki/oon

    Utatane Piko

Artwork for VOCALOID 2

Released by Ki/oon, a subsidary of Sony (yes, that Sony), as the fifteenth Japanese Vocaloid and the first one by Sony. The voicebank was recorded by the Nico Nico Douga singer Piko, hence the name - this makes Piko somewhat of a Promoted Fanboy. The design is based on an electric guitar (complete with a power cord).

The voice data is male but has a feminine voice; however, gender factors can easily set to make it more masculine.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Piko's voice can be either masculine or feminine.
  • Idiot Hair: Styled after either a music note, or the letter P.
  • Meaningful Name: "Utatane" means "sound of singer". His voice actor is Piko, an actual singer.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Downplayed - he looks more robotic than most other designs, looking from his unusual headphones, his eyes, and especially his USB tail.

The first Vocaloid produced by 1st Place, IA is voiced by singer Lia. She is described on her official site as IA -ARIA ON THE PLANETES- and was released on January 27th, 2012. Her demo song was a cover of Lia's Tori no Uta. After having starred in kemu's "A Tale of Six Trillion Years and a Night" and the popular Kagerou Project franchise, she experienced a massive popularity surge and was, for a long time in the mid 2010a, listed alongside some of Vocaloid's biggest juggernauts. Currently affiliated with CeVio along with the rest of the -ARIA ON THE PLANETES- vocal synthesizers.

She was designed by Aka Akasaka (creator of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War).

The 37th Vocaloid released for the VOCALOID 3 engine in collaboration with We've Inc. and Internet Co Ltd.. Her debut was in Vocalo-P ni Naritai! ("I want to become a Vocaloid producer!"), a how-to magazine showing novice users how to use Vocaloid software and create videos for their songs. Her voice is described as "tomboyish and ready to rock". Her voice is provided by Ai Kakuma. She was updated to Vocaloid4 on December 1, 2015.

  • Animal Motifs: Rana's hoodie is bear-shaped, and when she puts the hood on, the lights on her head resemble bear ears. Her logo also comes in the shape of a bear.
  • Copy Protection: The only way one can use her Vocaloid3 is by collecting all the tickets found in the Vocalo-P ni Naritai! magazines. Her Vocaloid4 release averts this, being able to be bought normally.
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: Has rainbows on her hoodie and the lights on her head. According to the creator, they're supposed to symbolize her users' creative freedom with her, so they may "color her with the color that best represents you".
  • Robot Buddy: Three of them: Morio Shishou (a panda), Jasmine Kenkyuuin (a puppy), and Sakiko (a bird). Her Vocaloid4 release gave her a fourth companion: Kouhei (another bird).
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Certainly has the looks of one.
  • Sailor Fuku: One promotional image had Rana dress up in a Fujimura high school uniform.
  • Significant Birth Date: Shares the same birthday as her voice provider.
  • Stealth Pun: Rana's bear motif might be due to her voice provider's name being Ai Kakuma.
  • Updated Re-release: She has a Vocaloid4 release.
  • Younger Than They Look: Her official age is stated as 0.

Artwork for VOCALOID 3

A Fuji Television character used as an announcer. Originally a synthetic host for several failed TV programs, Anri was given new life as a Vocaloid.

  • Book Dumb: Official sources say that she get bad marks in Japanese class.
  • Cosmic Plaything: This girl just hasn't gotten any luck. When she was used for Fuji TV she didn't stay on the programs for long because all of them got cancelled. When she was set to be used as an announcer for a phone service, it shut down after two years. And when she was converted to Vocaloid, she ended up only producing one major song before being left in limbo for two years, and then was subsequently retired as both a mascot and a Vocaloid.
  • Canon Immigrant
  • Lady in Red: During her Fuji TV days.
  • invokedOne-Hit Wonder: Her first major hit was Kikuo's "Hallelujah Super Idol" before her retirement.
  • Older Than They Look: Her redesign makes her look like a teenager, but her official age is 23.
  • Pals with Jesus: Seems to have this relationship with God in "Hallelujah Super Idol".
  • Put on a Bus: After her first performance, it was never made clear if she would be put up for commercial purposes. Turned into Bus Crash 2 years later, as YAMAHA stated she was never meant for commercial use and Fuji TV put out the statement that she was retired.

Akatsuki Visual Artists

    LUMi

LUMi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minilumi.png

A Buddhist-themed Vocaloid released in August 2017, representing the concept of "Death for Life". Her voice is provided by Sayaka Ohara.

  • Animal Motifs: Jellyfish. She seems to carry one on her back, and her ability to regress to jellyfish form on severe injury is based on Turritopsis nutricula's ability to do the same. Her initial concept was even a jellyfish imitating human form.
  • Animorphism: If hurt enough, she will turn into a jellyfish to recover.
  • Bioluminescence Is Cool: She has glowing marks on her shoulders, fitting with her jellyfish theme.
  • Fairy Tale Motifs: Associated with the tale of Urashima Tarou, since she was raised by the titular character and Otohime in her backstory.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: LUMi is supposed to take on humanity's pain, but is prone to that same pain herself due to dealing with personal anguish on top of it. As a result, her voicebank cones with built-in pained sounds.
  • Light Is Good: Is a kindhearted girl who is a Miko, wears white, has white hair, and has glowing marks.
  • Magical Girl Queenliness Test: Her job is to turn 1000 of humanity's "seeds of anguish" into "seeds of hope". If she succeeds, she will Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence and become a goddess.
  • Miko: A Benikurage miko, according to her backstory.
  • Mystical White Hair: Her hair is tied to her backstory as a goddess-in-training.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. She may be semi-divine, but she's a kind soul.

Bandai Namco

    Mirai Komachi

Mirai Komachi

Artwork for VOCALOID 4

A Vocaloid developed by Bandai Namco Studios as a benchmark on their company's game development technology. She was released on May 24, 2018.

  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Meta version: due to her lack of marketing, her announcement was issued the day she was released.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Carrots, fitting her orange motif.
  • Two First Names: Both her first and last name are given names in Japan, leading to some difficulty in figuring out how to parse it. The Japanese YAMAHA site deals with it by referring to her as "Komachi" when using a given name, while the English site avoided it altogether by spelling her name in CamelCase.
