The Red Wolf, one of the Alphas who support the empire alongside August. Although she is favored by the emperor, there are many within the empire who distrust her. Even so, her charm and beauty have placed untold numbers of imperial soldiers under her spell.

  • Trademark Favorite Food: Thick Strawberry Milk, and her special favorite is a Milk Ice Cream Bar (with the latter's description playing up the fact that it's for phallic reasons).
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: It's heavily implied in her Episode 1 that her immortality is very much real and that the object she's looking for is something capable of actually killing her.

  • Abusive Parents: Gaspard has an abusive father who doesn't love him and only sees him as a weapon when he was a child.

  • Invisibility: Gaspard's Embleo gives him the ability to turn invisible temporarily. It comes in handy when infiltrating enemy bases.

Embleo: Back Left Shoulder)

Voiced by: Kaito Takeda (Japanese); Eric Vale (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hugo_simon_toluminaria.png

Friends with Leo and Celia since childhood. During his activities as a member of Blaze, he became increasingly distrustful of the federation until a meeting with August lured him over to the imperial side.

  • Color-Coded Characters: Green.
  • Defector from Decadence: While the details on why aren't known, Hugo left the Jerle Federation for the Gildllan Empire because the former had left him disgusted/angry in some way. • Trademark Favorite Food: Meat Stew, and his special favorite is Simmered White Radishes. He generally likes healthy food.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: In Ep. Final, Hugo’s traumatic childhood memories were being witnessed after he overheard Lisette that the Federation was responsible for the destruction of Le Sante village and had the Federation soldiers disguise themselves as Empire soldiers. After being discovered by Lisette and he was the only witness, he thought she was about to kill him, but she didn’t. She shoots him with a bullet that suppresses his memories away.
  • Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil: Most of the Imperial soldiers dismiss him as a traitor and see him as nothing more than a brown-noser, thinking that he must have turned on the Federation for personal gain and is now trying to mooch his way up the Imperial ranks.
  • Villain Respect: Inverted, as it's respect to a villain (from the Federation's perspective, anyway) instead of from one. Even while still with the Federation, Hugo admired the Empire's technology for its practical applications and had to remind himself that the Federation considered it heretical.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Hugo and Leo don't want to hurt or kill children when Lisette orders them to kill Emma and her family for being spies for Gildllan Empire. (It was a test for them to show their resolves as potential Blaze members)

A girl who acts like an innocent child in an adult's appearance. She enlisted in order to procure a stable income to send back to the children's home where she grew up. With her uncanny luck, everything she attempts somehow manages to turn out well.

  • Color-Coded Characters: Light Orange.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's always taking pratfalls, and even in player-controlled combat she's clearly just flailing.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She has a generous bust and nicely shaped hips. Her outfits don't shy away from showing her figure. Not to mention, Jiggle Physics.
  • Unluckily Lucky: She's noted to have extraordinary luck, but it usually comes at the expense of her klutziness. Falk even lampshades one case, where she manages to stab a monster in the eye by chance before realizing that if she were really lucky, she wouldn't have been attacked by a monster in the first place.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Heavenly Egg Plate and her special favorite is a Soft-Boiled Double-Coated Egg. Other egg dishes also tend to rank high with her, alongside some specific Reintz Catfish recipes from home.

Recruited by August for the imperial army. A very self-centered individual, he puts all of his efforts into attaining glory through military exploits. After running away from the children's home where he lived with Amelie, he survived solely off his skills as a mercenary.

  • Color-Coded Characters: Yellow.
  • Childhood Friend: With Amelie. They grew up in the same orphanage until he ran off.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: After leaving the children's home to live on the streets, he scraped by as best he could until he became a mercenary. He would then form a two man mercenary group with his close friend Joyce until the latter ultimately died at the hands of a beast.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": His real name is actually Claude and renamed himself Falk (as a play on "falcon"). He is especially annoyed that Amelie insistently addresses him as Claude.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Falk met Alexandra when she was a soldier in the year 993. In the year 997, he doesn’t remember her.
  • Dual Wielding: In Falk's official art, his main weapon is a pair of dual daggers called Falconwing Twin Blades.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hardcore Barbecue Ribs, and his special favorite is Stamina-Packed Liver Sauté.

Adventurer

Members of neither military, they investigate the mystery of the Primordial Beasts on their own.

A young wanderer traveling the world after a government takeover forced him to leave the Miasui Icedom. The experience has given him an aura of apathy, but his innate good nature has not changed and, despite his complaining, he tends to put great effort into helping others.

  • Color-Coded Characters: Navy Blue.
  • Dual Wielding: In Ed's official art, his main weapon a pair of dual daggers called Saw Twin Blades.
  • Noble Fugitive: Is actually the prince of the Miasui Icedom.
  • Only in It for the Money: Non-villain example. Ed tells himself he's only doing it for the money for survival since it’s part of his job as a mercenary.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Warm Seafood Stew, and his special favorite is Whipped Coffee. As with Bastien, he doesn't actively dislike a lot; he explains in one episode that food was scarce where he grew up and so couldn't afford to be picky. But the few dislikes he does have tend to feature eggs.

A young genius, she was working hard at research and absorbing knowledge while in the mansion where she was under de facto house arrest. The books she read in her spare time gave her concerns about the world, resulting in her setting out on a journey to prove her hypothesis.

  • Child Prodigy: Smart enough to make use of the reactor technology from the empire to create her guns and ammo as well as being able to read the energy emitting from the primordial beasts.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Bright Pink.
  • Guns Akimbo: In Lydie's official art, her main weapon is a pair of dual guns called Pink Beast Pistols.
  • Height Angst: Lydie sometimes laments about her current height because everyone mistakes her for a child. She thinks about creating nutrient drinks that help her to grow taller.
  • Little Miss Snarker: At odds with her appearance involving pink and pastel colors, plushies, and unicorns; her personality is actually quite deadpan and taciturn.
  • Older Than They Look: She has the appearance of a child, but according to her main profile, she's 15 years old.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Neon Pop Candy, and her special favorite is Colorful Vitamin Chewing Gum.

The daughter of the second emperor of the Gildllan Empire. A sheltered child since birth, she grew up without any knowledge of the outside world and lacks even basic facts. Through her travels with the party, she gradually learns about the world and its hidden truths.

  • All Just a Dream: Averted. As a child, Alexandra tells her to go back to sleep and thinks her kidnapping was a dream. She was convinced and went back to sleep.
  • Chuunibyou: She believes she's the hero in a grand adventure, out to smite evildoers (with no thought to whether she's actually being heroic).
  • Color-Coded Characters: Red.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: In Ana-Maria's official art, her main weapon is a katana called White Princess Blade.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: She's studied all sorts of things from her books, but she tends to think that the world is like one of her adventure stories, leading her to make several wrong assumptions and take personal offense when others say she's wrong.
  • Lethal Chef: If she's the character who learns a recipe in-story, it's ends up some sort of noxious purple concoction that ends up poisoning whoever eats it. Only Charles actively likes her food, and most others hate it (Bastien and Edouard being the exceptions that can tolerate it).
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Ana-Maria wasn’t aware August sends his soldiers to kill her because she is the previous Emperor’s only child. She believes the Emperor’s soldiers who were sent to kill her are stalkers.
    • As a child, Ana-Maria wasn't aware she was kidnapped by a bandit named Ludwig who almost sold her off.
  • Parental Neglect: Ana-Maria's father rarely visits her due to his position as emperor.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Crispy Takoyaki, and her special favorite is Irresistible Yakisoba.

A loyal supporter of Ana-Maria who always puts her first and acts accordingly. He, however, has a sharp tongue and treats everyone other than his lady like the scum of the earth.

  • Ambiguously Human: He has some close connection to the Primodial Beasts. He himself has denied that he's human, though we still don't know what he actually is.
  • Color-Coded Characters: White.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: His eyes are blue with a distinct red circle surrounding his pupils.
  • Jerkass to One: Inverted. Ana-Maria is the only one he's not a Jerkass to. He's especially hostile to anyone he thinks is disrespecting "his lady" (which is just about everyone, since he tends to view anyone but her in the worst possible light).
  • Magic Staff: In Charles’ official art, his main weapon is a staff called Silver Trident Staff.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: While he generally assumes the worst in others, he really doesn't like Raoul and trash-talks him constantly.
  • Sycophantic Servant: Charles continually gushes about how beautiful and wise Ana-Maria is, to the annoyance of almost everyone else.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: His favorite recipes are all Ana-Maria's cooking. Yes, even with her Lethal Chef status. His favorite is "My Lady's Lv. 1 Rice Ball" and his special favorite is "My Lady's Lv. 2 Baked Apple" (burnt to a crisp).

    Raoul

A self-described archaeologist who claims that his job is to investigate and study ruins. He, in fact, has a profound knowledge of the subject, but those around him have deep suspicions nonetheless. He is at that delicate age where he stubbornly rejects any suggestion that he is old.

  • Adventurer Archaeologist: Very much styles himself as such.
  • Butt-Monkey: He doesn't get a lot of respect from anyone; with everyone razzing him about his age and casting doubt that he's a real archaeologist.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Orange.
  • Competence Zone: He's the Tales-traditional early-middle-aged guy that everyone else treats like he's past his prime.
  • The Drag-Along: To start with, anyway. He encountered Ana-Maria and Charles by pure bad luck, and even though they don't like each other they presumed that he was still traveling with them and badgered him into coming along. He later sticks with the group willingly (despite having to deal with the two), as interacting to the Primordial Beasts appeals to the historian in him.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: While everyone pokes fun at Raoul, Charles really has it out for him and will always belittle him when he gets the chance.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Salted Sea Cucumber, and his special favorite is a Sticky Beans and Okra Bowl.
