Sakura Katana-chan
The richest, most powerful troll princess at School-chan, who just wants Karkat-kun to notice her.
Tropes:
- Action Girl: Of the Magical Girl variety.
- Animesque: As an exaggerated parody of magical girls and Moe girls clambering after their senpais.
- Berserk Button: Being called a weeaboo, and anyone breathing in the direction of Karkat-kun.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Despite her Magical Girl appearance, she's a Designated Hero who kills two of her classmates in pursuit of a guy who doesn't even like her and ends up blowing the world up.
- Blessed with Suck: As much as she touts her magical neko powers, they seem to cause her more harm than anything.
- Care-Bear Stare: Defeats a resurrected Terezi-chan with this.
- Catgirl: She has cat-ear shaped horns, a tail, and Neko powers.
- Cute, but Cacophonic: Has a screechy, high-pitched voice that occasionally edges into Sensory Abuse.
- Everything's Better with Rainbows: Has rainbow blood and tears, and the outline of her giant Neko form is rainbow-colored.
- Gonk: More often than not, she's drawn with grotesque, exaggerated expressions.
- Gratuitous Japanese: Peppers her dialogue with random "desu"s and "sugoi"s alongside the occasional "gomenasai".Terezi-chan: Sakura-chan? Have you seen my spatula? I can't find it, I'm blind.Sakura: anata can't find it because I fucking broke it you piece of shit.
- Idiot Hero: Commits variously stupid actions across the story (such as stealing and using a Transformation Trinket when she's told she'd die if she used her neko powers).
- Informed Attribute: According to her, she's a powerful and wealthy princess. These traits never come up again.
- Jerkass: She's extremely self-centered and rude towards anyone who isn't her (or Karkat-kun).
- Older Than They Look: According to the wiki, she's in her mid-30s. She looks like a teenager and goes to high school.
- Parody Sue: In concept, she's a typical parody of Homestuck Mary Sues (Improbable blood color, in love with a canon character and mercilessly hating the canon character's Love Interest, more powerful than any of the other characters) but she's not very Sue-like in terms of her personality.
- Pink Heroine: Wears pink and is the story's main character.
- Princess Protagonist: She introduces herself as "a princess" and "very rich", which never comes up again in the series.
- Psycho Pink: She's heavily associated with the color pink, and she's a yandere who shows a casual disregard for the people around her.
- Single-Target Sexuality: Towards Karkat-kun.
- Transformation Trinket: A "neko charm" that allows her to transform into a giant rainbow kaiju.
- Transformation Sequence: Drawn in MS Paint, no less.
- Victoria's Secret Compartment: Draws a katana out of her bust.
- Villain Protagonist: Apart from Bitch Vantas, she's pretty much the main villain of Sugoi Quest for Kokoro, being a stalker, a murderer, and all-around Jerkass.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Uses the Neko Charm to transform into her Giant Neko form.
- Yandere: For Karkat-kun.
Terezi-chan
Sakura Katana-Chan's needy best friend turned-rival, following Episode 2.
Tropes:
- Adaptational Wimp: In canon, she's an Action Girl. Here, her blindness is a Running Gag and she ends up wandering onto the highway and getting hit by a car.
- Back from the Dead: After Terezi gets hit by a car, Bitch Vantas ressurects her and gives her Neko powers.
- Catchphrase: Calling people a "baka".
- Heel–Face Turn: Turns on Sakura-chan after being resurrected by Bitch Vantas and being given Neko powers.
- Precision F-Strike: In the first episode. Even weirder considering later in the series she goes out of her way to say "crap" instead of "fuck".Terezi: Sakura-chan, you're late every fucking day.
Karkat-kun
Sakura Katana-Chan's ultimate love.
Tropes:
- Character Death: In Episode 4, after Taking the Bullet for Doctor-chan.
- Informed Attribute: According to Sakura-chan, he's extremely "kawaii". The art style makes it hard to tell.
- No Indoor Voice: Probably to be expected from Karkat Vantas, but he shouts all (two) of his lines.
- Satellite Love Interest: Literally every appearance Karkat-kun makes is based around Sakura-chan's obsessive love for him. He gets two lines. One of which is seconds before his death.
- Taking the Bullet: When the Mysterious MILF tries to kill Doctor-chan, he saves him this way.
- The Quiet One: He has only two lines in the entire series!
- Unknown Relative: He is Doctor-chan and Bitch Vantas' son, something only revealed after his death with no foreshadowing whatsoever.Bitch Vantas: AH! MY SON!
Vriska-chan
The school bully, and main antagonist of episodes 1 and 2. Harasses Sakura-chan and Terezi for no real reason alongside her posse.
Tropes:
- Boob-Based Gag: Complete with camera zooms and bouncing! Leads to her downfall when Sakura-chan pops her breast like a balloon. My tit!
- Break the Haughty: Her Curb-Stomp Battle with Sakura-chan breaks her ego right before she dies.
- The Bully: Your typical Alpha Bitch in a high school setting, with a few... noticeable assets.
- Bullying the Disabled: Steals Terezi's cane in episode 2 and calls her "Blindy", prompting Sakura-chan to dispose of her.
- Character Death: Gets axed in episode 2 by Sakura-chan.
- Evil Counterpart: Would be this to Sakura-chan (being another student with Neko powers who can transform at will) if Sakura-chan wasn't already objectively evil.
- Gang of Bullies: Harasses students alongside Flayme Rayven and Alloin Lucias.
- Misplaced Accent: Despite Sugoi Quest taking place at a very Japanese school and everyone wearing Japanese schoolgirl outfits, she has a thick Southern accent.
- Transformation Sequence: She can become a Magical Girl too! It's just her standing in place while her clothes are superimposed onto her.
Ookami Kitsune-chan
Sakura-chan's friend who shows up in episode 3 and helps her get back to school-chan. Has unrequited feelings for Sakura, but keeps getting interrupted before she can confess.
Tropes:
- Action Girl: Dual Wields two swords and has Neko powers like Sakura-chan and the rest, though she doesn't get to do much before getting killed.
- Animal Motifs: Foxes.
- All Love Is Unrequited: She's in love with Sakura-chan, who not only is completely uninterested in her but ends up squishing her for no reason in the finale.
- Berserk Button: Anyone attempting to hurt Sakura-chan.
- Big "NO!": When Terezi is about to attack Sakura, alongside an extremely gratuitous Panty Shot.
- Butt-Monkey: Every time she appears Sakura-chan has some sort of Kick the Dog moment with her, up to and including her death.
- Cat Girl: Rather, a fox girl. Unlike Sakura, her ears and tail appear to just be her hair.
- Character Death: Squashed underfoot by Sakura-chan.
- The Cutie
- Forgotten First Meeting: Sakura-chan completely forgot about her sometime before her first appearance in the series, despite them apparently being best friends.
- Horrible Judge of Character: Anyone who views Sakura as a viable romantic interest is this on principle.
- Mystical White Hair
- Original Character: Yep.
- Unknown Rival: Flayme Rayven views her as a rival for Vriska-chan's affections, but Ookami is oblivious to it.
Flayme Rayven
One of Vriska-chan's entourage, who inhibits Sakura Katana-chan and other students under Bitch Vantas's orders. She doesn't actually have any Neko powers (yet).
Tropes:
- All Love Is Unrequited: Has a crush on Vriska, but Vriska never appears to realize this.
- Animal Motifs: Ravens. Her lusus is one, apparently.
- Body Horror: Played for Laughs, of course, but her left eye is a Linkin Park CD.
- Black Blood: Though she wears red because she's edgy.
- Dark Action Girl: Gets into a katana fight with Sakura-chan.
- Delinquent Hair: Has bright red streaks of dyed hair,a pretty big taboo for troll culture.
- The Dragon: To Vriska.
- My Nayme Is: Flayme Rayven. A pretty common tactic for extending words for fantroll names, actually.'
- Occidental Otaku: Gets into a fight with Sakura-chan over this, because "you can't POSSIBLY be more Japanese than me!"
- Original Character: Alongside her friend, Alloin.
- Shout-Out: According to the wiki, her design is based on "edgy fantrolls, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Ryuko Matoi from the Kill La Kill anime series." She's a Linkin Park fan and her name may or may not be a reference to My Immortal.
- Tsundere
- Undying Loyalty: Towards her Vriska-sama.
- With Friends Like These...: Despite her and Alloin Lucian being in the same Gang of Bullies, she bullies him for being weak and a pushover.
Alloin Lucian
The right hand man to Bitch Vantas and fellow member of Vriska Serket's gang. A Satanist who has a small piece of Bitch Vantas's demon powers and loves music from the early 2000's.
Tropes:
- Ascended Extra: He appears more prominently in the movie, but he was just a background character in the anime.
- Heel–Face Turn: Turns on Bitch Vantas when he realizes she lied about killing them all.
- Hollywood Satanism: His brand of Satanism is basically just putting "UN" in front of "holy shit" and believing that "God" and "Jesus" are offensive words.
- Original Character: Yet again.
- Smug Snake: Very condescending and unpleasant.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: In their gang, he's constantly pushed around by Vriska and Flayme for being weak and a pushover.
Faculty Members
Doctor-Chan
A doctor who works at the Hospital-chan. Throughout the series he aids and advises Sakura-chan to the best of his ability, but unfortunately his words of wisdom usually fall upon deaf ears.
Tropes:
- Anger Born of Worry: He gets mad at Sakura, but only because she keeps putting herself in danger by directly disobeying him.
- Big Good
- Idiot Ball: For someone tasked with keeping watch over the Neko Charm, he's really bad at keeping it out of other people's hands. Prime examples are him leaving it with a bedridden Sakura right after telling her not to touch it and handing it over to Allois because he said please.
- No Indoor Voice: And HOW!
- Nonstandard Character Design: Unlike the other characters, he's just a stock photo of a doctor with a mouth drawn over it.
- Our Angels Are Different: He has "angel powers" and can transform into... this. The creators also confirmed he's an Heir of Light, further enforcing the angel imagery.
- Sensory Abuse: His voice.
- The Unintelligible: To the point where Even the Subtitler Is Stumped.
Bitch Vantas
The main antagonist of Sugoi Quest For Kokoro. She is the principal of the School-chan, Doctor-chan's ex-wife, and Karkat-kun's mother. Also referred to as "The Mysterious MILF".
Tropes:
- Archnemesis Dad: Is Karkat's mom.
- Atrocious Alias: "Mysterious MILF" is pretty bad, but is it worse than Bitch Vantas?
- Big Bad
- Bilingual Bonus: Only ever speaks in subtitled Japanese. A tattoo on the outside of her left thigh features Japanese kanji for "death" in lime green.
- Catgirl: With bright pink ears and a tail.
- Classic Villain: Complete with a stereotypical 90s anime villain laugh.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Even she feels remorse after Karkat-kun is unwittingly killed when she shoots at Doctor-chan.
- Evil Plan: It just consists of "EVIL!"
- For the Evulz: There's no real motivation to her plan other than doing evil.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Does this in her intro.
- Our Demons Are Different: She has "demon powers" and pretty much looks like a regular troll with giant red wings, cat ears, and a tail.
- Politically Incorrect Villain: Expelled Ookami-chan after catching her and Vriska-chan making out.
- Used to Be a Sweet Kid: At some point, when she was Happily Married to Doctor-chan, she used to look a lot more normal.
- Satanic Archetype: Contrasting Doctor-chan's angelic archtype.
- Spikes of Villainy: Her horns are shaped like spiky stars.
- Stacy's Mom: The narration even calls her a MILF.
Mr. Sollux Captor
A teacher at School-chan and one of the only canon Homestuck trolls in the series.
Tropes:
- Age Lift: Seems like it.
Teacher-chan
A teacher at School-chan and Doctor-chan's cousin.
Tropes:
- Bearer of Bad News: Tells Sakura-chan of Terezi's passing.
- Nonstandard Character Design: Like Doctor-chan, he's a stock image with a mouth animated over him.
- Sensory Abuse: Voiced in the same manner as Doctor-chan (they are cousins, after all).
Ryubre Akfast
A cooking teacher at School-chan.
Tropes:
- Expy: He's just Ryu from Street Fighter, but a troll.
- Punny Name: Ryubre Akfast.
- Synthetic Voice Actor: He is voiced by the "Rod" text to speech voice.
