Human World

     Mika Anderson

Mika

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_njeza1yqey1r9aavao8_500.png

The heroine, Mika Anderson, is a regular high school student until her grandfather dies. She inherits her grandfather's mansion and discovers 5 injured incubi after they were in a involved in a big battle. She decides to allow them to stay, provided they help her with the mansion.

  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • "Princess", as given to her by Erik.
    • "Doofus", as given to her by Sam.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: With all the demon love interests, to a certain extent... but especially Sam, who is considered the "True Route" of the series. Subverted, if Andrew’s route is chosen
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: She's shown as a pale-skinned girl with long, dark hair and bright green eyes. In the first game, it makes her pop out among the female cast, since the other female characters (Diana, Suzu, Naomi, etc.) are all brown-haired or blonde.
  • Fantastically Indifferent: After a minor Freak Out, she takes the appearance of the supernatural in a surprisingly nonchalant manner.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You can choose her first name, although her Canon Name is Mika and her last name is always Anderson.
  • Interspecies Romance: By default, considering the premise of the game. Though less so in Sam's true ending in The Demon War, as she becomes a succubus.
  • Marry Them All: One epilogue has her cut out the middle man and attempt this with all five of the incubi brothers.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: Her green eyes certainly highlight her connection to the supernatural, and her potential to become a demon herself in the sequel.
  • One True Threesome: The Demon War lets her end up with Saero and Diana in one ending.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: Downplayed. She's the next heir to her grandfather's highly successful toy company (of which she and everyone else is completely aware of), and she and her family are extremely wealthy. That said, she still acts like a regular teenage girl and doesn't make too much of a fuss about her family business.
  • Supporting Protagonist: Surprisingly so in the sequel. While it still follows Mika and her chosen partner, most of the story revolves around Diana and her rebellion.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In the first game she can take on Malix, a devil, but really starts to shine in the second game, where she gets proper training for her magic and kicks some serious ass.
  • True Blue Femininity: Her dress is blue, while her hair is either black with blue tones or a very navy blue.
  • Unexpected Inheritance: She figures out that her beloved grandfather willed his entire estate to her mere hours after his funeral, and she's expected to be the new head of Anderson's Toys (though she knew that for quite a while).

     Naomi Patterson

Naomi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_naomi.png

Voiced by: Samantha Chan

Naomi is best friends with Mika and Suzu. She is the more uptight of the friends, and is referred to as the ditzy blonde by Suzu. She's the girly girl to Suzu's tomboy, and loves to cook. In the second game, she's in Paris learning how to be a chef.

  • Ambiguously Bi: She states during her route that she felt that she'd only ever like men, and became conflicted when she realized that she has a crush on the protagonist. It's unclear if she considers herself bisexual or if it's a case of If It's You, It's Okay.
  • Bookworm: Likes to read and cares more about schoolwork than Suzu does.
  • Coming-Out Story: Her realization of her crush on the protagonist makes her route this.
  • Feminine Women Can Cook: Is studying to be a chef in the sequel.
  • Gay Option: One of the three lesbian options of the game.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Is the most girly girl of her friends, and has very long hair.
  • Muggle Best Friend: She's completely unrelated to the magic and demons of the game.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl with a love of feminine fashion and sweet things to Suzu's Tomboy.
  • Those Two Guys: With Suzu. The two tend to bicker among things, but are almost always seen together.

     Suzu Cappini

Suzu

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_suzu.png

Suzu is best friends with Mika and Suzu. She is the more fun loving of the friends. Her family is rumored to be involved with the mafia, but she denys it.

  • Ambiguously Bi: If not for rumors regarding her family business, she'd be very comfortable with asking the protagonist out, and it's hinted that she doesn't like talking about boys as much as Naomi does (though whether from disinterest in the topic or from irritation at the frequency is unclear). At the same time, she joins in with the other girls in the hallway in gaping at Andrew during his route.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has brown eyes and brown hair.
  • Gay Option: One of the other lesbian options in the game.
  • The Mafia: Being Italian, she swears her family has no Mafia ties. She's actually wrong.
  • Muggle Best Friend: Like Naomi, she's completely unrelated to demons and magic.

     Andrew

Andrew

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_andrew.png

Andrew is a young man who is, along with Mika, a candidate for next CEO of Anderson Toys. However, he is very friendly to Mika and couldn't care less about being CEO. He was also pretty close to Mika's grandfather.

  • Chick Magnet: In his route, a lot of girls from Mika’s school seem to fawn over him, including Mika, Lisette, Naomi, and Suzu.
  • Follow in My Footsteps: Despite his father's wishes, Andrew really doesn't want to be the next CEO of Anderson Toys.
  • Nice Guy: He's genuinely a nice guy in all his interactions with Mika.
  • Parental Substitute: Considered Mika's late grandfather to be this.

     Harold “Grandfather“ Anderson

Grandfather

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hqdefault_6330.jpg

Mika's deceased grandfather, who passed away at the very beginning of the story. He was the one that instilled a love of toys into Mika, and was the standing CEO of Anderson's Toys. He wills his mansion and all its belongings to her when he dies.

  • All-Loving Hero: While he is only mentioned in passing, he is said to have cared for almost anyone, such as his less than kind son and even the incubi brothers, since he was the one who brought them to the human world and did everything he could to let them explore the world.
  • Shocking Voice Identity Reveal: it is revealed in Damien’s route that he was the man who befriended and helped bring the boys to the human worlds, as Mika recognized his voice comforting Damien when they first met
  • Friend to All Children: Seeing how he made toys, children adored him.
  • Nice Guy: He's incredibly kind to Mika and the incubi, telling them they could take shelter in his home if they were ever in trouble.
  • Pals with Jesus: All that time he was running the company, he was also studying advanced magic with permission from the angels.
  • Posthumous Character: Just barely, since his death triggers the events of the first game.

Demon World

Incubi Brothers
     All of them
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cjofig.png

  • Archnemesis Dad: Their father, the Demon Lord, is their primary opposing force in The Demon War.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: James is yellow/gold, Erik is red/pink, Sam is green, Matthew is blue, and Damien is black or white.
  • Mind Wipe: At the end of the first game, if Mika chooses to let Diana take the boys away, Diana will wipe their memories clean of all their time in the human world.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Sex isn't completely required for them to live. They can take energy from just sexual feelings (since at least a little sexual energy is given off at all times). They can do this by touching other beings, same as any other Demon of Lilith. And although they're incubi, only one of them (Erik) has any dream based powers, though it's more in line with the modern interpretations of the incubus race.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: In at least one route and in the Just Another Day CD, they do not end up with Mika. They are still close to her and care for her, but none of them go much further than that.
  • Pretty Freeloaders: Since they're going into hiding, they take shelter at Mika's mansion. At the very least they pull their own weight and try to maintain the house.
  • Sibling Triangle: Sibling Hexagon more like it, but all of them are Mika's love interests.
  • Speak of the Devil: All of the boys have demon names, and can be summoned if a person speaks it. James, Erik, Sam, Matthew, and Damien are truly known as Raestrao, Uzaeris, Aomaris, Zecaeru, and Izroul respectively.
  • Succubi and Incubi: They're Demons of Lilith, so they qualify under here. Although... see Our Demons Are Different.

     James

James

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_james.png

Voiced by: Bradley Gareth

James is the oldest of the incubi brothers, and was the heir to the demon lord. He loves all of his brothers dearly, and tries to keep them out of trouble. At the end of the first game, he's CEO of Anderson Toy company. He has an eidectic memory, and can summon a golden pistol out of thin air.

  • Badass Bookworm: He loves to read, a hobby helped by his ability to learn any language quickly. Though not as short-tempered as Sam, he is the second-strongest brother, and will protect his brothers and Mika, violently, in a heartbeat.
  • Barrier Warrior: He can form a barrier around someone's mind to protect them.
  • Brains and Bondage: Word of God states that he's into BDSM, and is also the smartest of all the brothers.
  • Broken Ace: Was expected to be the best at everything to rule, but he didn't want that kind of life. Telling him that he should be thankful for what he had is a sore spot for him.
  • I Know Your True Name: Raestrao is his true name.
  • Omniglot: According to Word of God, he can speak English, Italian, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Latin. He apparently wanted to be prepared for anywhere on Earth they wanted to travel.
  • Stoic Spectacles: Is the most stoic of all of the brothers, and wears glasses.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Like other demons, James's eyes glow gold when using magic like enthrallment, but his eyes are already a whiskey brown not far from gold.
  • Royal Blood: In the demon world, he was his father's heir... the Demon Lord himself.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Is always well dressed with black slacks and dress shoes, usually including a tie.
  • Super-Intelligence: Of the Super learning and eidetic memory variety.
  • Team Dad: Is the one trying to keep his brothers in line most of the time.

     Erik

Erik

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_erik.png

Voiced by: Christopher Escalante

Erik is the second oldest brother of the incubi. He was raised to be the perfect incubi, who knows how to please a woman. He is a huge flirt and very charming. In combat, he can summon tentacles to fight his enemies.

     Sam

Sam

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_sam.png

Voiced by: Alejandro Saab

Sam is the middle brother, and the physically strongest one. He is referred to as "the brute" because of his tendency to be hot headed and settle things with his fists. In combat, he has super speed and strength that he uses to pummel his enemies to death.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: If the heroine is on his route. Sam is the most brusque, short-tempered, and violent of the five brothers, but appealing to his softer side is how Mika falls for him.
  • Character Development: He doesn't really care for Mika at first and constantly complains about doing chores. However, he does grow to care for Mika (platonically or romantically, depending on the route) and even regrets stealing her first kiss at the end of his route. This is also seen in his attitude towards the human world. He's not a big fan of it in the beginning, but as time goes on, he comes to like it on Earth.
  • Color Motif: Wears mostly green clothes and has green eyes.
  • Developers' Desired Date: According to Michaela Laws, he is the canon route of the game. His True Ending in 1 is also said to follow the True Ending of the rest of the series.
  • Fair Cop: Becomes one by the end of the first game.
  • First Girl Wins: If Mika chooses him on his route in either game, since he was one of the first to approach her once she stumbled upon their bodies.
  • Flaming Sword: Has one of these in his battle with the Demon Lord on his route.
  • Forceful Kiss: During the beginning of the game, he does this to Mika upon waking up from his unconscious state in order to regain energy.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite being the hothead of the brothers, he does taichi and mediation.
  • I Am the Noun: During his battle with the Demon Lord, he gets asked how he has so much power... and then Sam makes one of these.
Demon Lord: Weak brat. Needing the power of a dragon to defeat me?!
Sam: You don't fucking get it, do you? I don't just have the power of a dragon. I AM A DRAGON!!
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Acts like a jerk at the beginning of the game but is really a caring guy.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Being the middle of the five sons of the Demon Lord, Sam had little attention brought to him. He took advantage of this to help out those in need under the table.
  • Never Learned to Read: Since he was the third son, Sam was never taught to read as James was to take the throne or potentially Erik should something happen to James.
  • Not a Morning Person: Sam and Mika both become grumpy at having to get up at 9 instead of sleeping in.
  • Power Gives You Wings: After he become Lord of the Dragons, he has wings of fire when fighting the Demon Lord.
  • Red Baron: Referred to as "The Brute" by other demons.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Tends to have a fouler mouth than the other brothers.
  • Super-Strength: His secondary power is to control his strength and agility at will.
  • Tsundere: Textbook case. More Type A in the beginning.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Oh boy, Sam is this. Several times throughout the sequel, he goes crazy with rage and kicks the shit out of someone he believes to have hurt Mika.

     Matthew

Matthew

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5_1.png

Voiced by: Ethan Nakashima

Matthew is the fourth youngest brother. He is rather childish, but hates to be seen as a child. He can materialize anything into existence so long as it fits in his pockets, and also uses daggers to fight.

  • Berserk Button: Being compared to James. He absolutely resents his elder brother's favored status among his demonic peers.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: His secondary power allows him to create items in his pockets.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Yep... he's pretty damned innocent and has blue eyes.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Has some of this going on in the sequel. Questions why Mika likes him at all instead of one of his brothers.
  • Keet: A very nice but sometimes hyperactive guy who provides most of the comic relief.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Hates the fact that he's treated like a kid even though he's not the youngest brother.
  • Never Learned to Read: Since he is the fourth son, Matthew was never expected to succeed the throne and, as such, never learned to read. Or so it seemed. In actuality, Matthew taught himself how to read before they even left the Abyssal Plains. His brothers never knew about this, though.
  • Older Than They Look: In human years, he'd be about twenty years old despite his young teenager looks, and he's actually the second youngest of the brothers - Damien is the absolute youngest.
  • Supreme Chef: While his main talent is for sweets, he has shown that he can make most any dish and carries a lot of passion for cooking.
  • Sweet Tooth: Loves to bake cakes and sweets.

     Damien

Damien

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_damien.png

Voiced by: Jonah Scott

Damien is the youngest of the brothers, and is a bastard. His mother was a mistress to the demon lord instead of a queen like the rest of his brothers'. His power is mind reading, but he can't turn it off.

  • Ambiguously Human: The result of his good ending. Word of God proclaims that he's still a demon, just unpowered.
  • Big Little Brother: He has a lot of height for being the youngest of the five brothers.
  • Brought Down to Normal: During his Good End, Mika can give her blessing to have him, for all intents and purposes, become a human.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Out of all the brothers, he probably had it the worst in his younger years. For 100 years, he had to deal with being treated like a second-class citizen due to his heritage, listening to his mother get raped every night, and then almost got killed by both of his parents on separate occasions.
  • First Friend: Damien's first friend who was not one of his brothers was a man from the human world, who kept Damien company and told him about humans and his world. Given that Damien was the bastard son, he was ostracized and isolated from everyone except his brothers, making Mika’s Grandfather his first friend outside his family.
  • Heroic Bastard: Is the only bastard of the brothers. His mother is not a queen to the demon lord.
  • Humans Are Special: Believes this about humans. In fact, he prefers humans to demons.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Hates his telepathy and being a demon. Would rather be normal.
  • Never Learned to Read: Due to his status as a bastard, he was never taught how to read. He did however mention that the topics of books In the mansion office were interesting topics, but he may have said this assuming they were, or Mika’s Grandfather told him what the books were about previously.
  • Power Incontinence: He can read the mind of anyone, but he can't control when it happens.
  • Redheads Are Uncool: His hair is a brighter orange than Erik's, and he's lived possibly the most brutal life of the incubi.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: he is sweet, shy, humble and playful with the protagonist, however, when he is faced with an enemy he becomes cold and merciless.
  • Telepathy: He hates that he has this ability, however.

Other Demons

     Diana

Diana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/457114578_preview_diana.png

Voiced by: Michaela Laws

Diana is a succubus who tries to take the incubi brothers back to the Demon Lord. She was promised to James in exchange for the Demon Lord leaving her kingdom alone. In the second game, she is the leader of a revolution against him.

  • Character Development: Several years have gone by in the Abyssal Plains between the first game and the sequel, and, combined with being a Rebel Leader, Diana has changed for the better
  • Gay Option: In the first game and second game.
  • Ice Queen: Moreso in the sequel than the original game, where she’s more of a Femme Fatale
  • Knight of Cerebus: The moment her name is mentioned to the brothers, the atmosphere becomes much more serious.
  • Lady of War: Becomes the leader of the rebellion in The Demon War.
  • Last of Her Kind: As both a pureblooded succubus, but also the sole survivor of her family, who were killed during her visit to the human world in the first game.
  • More than Mind Control: Her ability to enthrall goes above and beyond any other demon seen in the game, probably because she’s the last pure-blooded succubus and a descendent of Lilith.
  • The Nicknamer: She calls Erik "The Sly Second", Sam "The Brute", Matthew "The Child", and Damien "The Bastard".
  • Not So Stoic: Bordering on Tear Jerker, Diana’s final confrontation with the Demon Lord shows just how much trauma she’s suffered fighting against him.
  • One True Love: Saero turns out to be this for her.
  • invokedOne True Threesome: With Mika and Saero on one of her good endings.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her demon form is purple and she fights with purple energy.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The only female demon Mika encounters in the first game. The Demon War subverts this, since some of Diana's subordinates in the revolution are also female.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her presence in the story is a large one, at least for the first game.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Diana has this attitude on her route. She thinks that incubi and succubi are incapable of feeling real love, just lust.

     Saero

Saero

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_static_jmsxhor6yrk0440oc0kssgc8.png

Voiced by: Jello-Apocalypse

Saero is the bodyguard of Diana, leader of the rebellion. He wields holy magic and fights with a spear. He is fiercely loyal and protective of Diana.

Devils

     Malix

Malix

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/malix.png

Voiced by: James Brown Jr.

Malix is a devil who is after the incubi brothers in the first half of the game. Unlike the brothers who are demons, he is a devil who can't understand love and empathy.

  • Arc Villain: He’s the reason the incubi are in Mika’s house, but he’s quickly dispatched to make way for Diana.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Has one named Eris, who will kill him if Mika is the one to fight him.
  • Big Bad: Of the first half of the game.
  • Butt-Monkey: There’s plenty of options to humiliate him, especially if Mika is the one to fight him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the recieving end of this in one of the routes. He doesn't survive.
  • Lack of Empathy: What sets him apart from the demons in the game. Because he is a devil, he only experiences the most violent and selfish of urges, and cannot think to empathize or even love.
  • Jerkass: Well, yes. He's a devil who can't empathize.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: He has red skin and is evil.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Has quite the dirty mouth.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: He has white hair and is one of the most evil characters in the game.
